Very clean presentation. Good food as usual but on the slow side of delivering fast food.

I’ve been obsessed with Jimboys since I was a kid so when I go to a place that has a Jimboys I always go. This was the worst experience ever! Went through the drive thru and ordered a veggie taco and shrimp quesadilla for me and my fiancé had shredded beef tacos. We let the lady taking our order know I don’t eat meat. There was a little bit of meat in my veggie taco and it was soggy and cold. The shrimp quesadilla was also cold and filled with beef so I couldn’t eat it. I should have checked before driving off because they got my order completely wrong. Such a shame. Jimboys used to be incredible.

I decided to go to Jimboy’s again as i had been there a few times over my years here, but couldn’t find any current pricing on their menu online or their website. After getting to their drive through I sort of found out why. Their prices are REALLY high for what they offer. I was just looking for a couple of tacos and a combo type burrito but ended up just driving through and leaving. Perhaps I’m too cheap to want to pay their prices, but my food last time there wasn’t special enough for a recommendation. Not many more places left in GV for good Mexican food.

Frequent many Jimboy’s Tacos and this is my favorite as the service is outstanding and the restruant is very clean. Only in this area 8 times a year and every time I go I enjoy the food and service. That says something about this location. Yesterday I asked them to make them off menu due to diet and I was quite pleased how accommodating they were and also got the order spot on.

This is one of the nicest Jimboy’s Tacos in the entire chain. Their Grass Valley location is modern, very clean, and attractive. Jimboy’s was a perfect place to stop for a quick lunch, especially for their Saturday meal special. This location has a lot of history on the walls and may actually be the flagship location for the chain since they started in the area. It is just off Highway 49 north of downtown Grass Valley heading towards Nevada City on the west side of the freeway. The parking lot is rather tiny given the large size of the interior restaurant. There may be additional parking in the rear, but I was not looking. It was a little early, but the place was still pretty vacant. Unfortunately, this meant that there were few employees working, but young and rather frazzled employee took my order while juggling the drive thru with ease. The food is nearly identical to the other stores, but this location had Vanilla Coke on tap and a very nice fresh salsa bar. I would not only return to this Jimboy’s, but I would recommend it anyone passing through looking for a good and quick meal of tasty Mexican-inspired food.

You can make a case that Jimboy’s started in Grass Valley in the early 1950s. I’ll give them bonus points for this. However, I’ve tried them twice now and can’t say I was thrilled. They should update their menu to be more like Chipotle.

Loved the food! Was recommended this place by a friend and they really surprised me I must say :) I grew up in a Mexican community so I get a lil picky with my Mexican food. The portion sizes are plenty and the price is very reasonable. What made me give them 5* was a few things. First the many meat options(sorry vegetarians, I’m a carnivore!) like shredded beef, carnitas, chicken, and Diablo shrimp or garlic shrimp. Really pretty amazing since its not a huge restaurant. Also the salsa options were various and I like spicy while my kids do not so big props for that one. They were really quick too and I get impatient when I have to wait :) Not a ton of people here so maybe people don’t know about this place. One thing to keep in mind for those looking for authentic Mexican style food, or just don’t want extra calories, is to ask for your corn tortillas for tacos to not be fried. The carnitas come that way and you don’t have to ask but for me it is a preference with any kind of meat, so ask, it’s an option! I say it’s one of Grass Valley ‘s best kept secrets! I will be back when I’m in the area.

I don’t know why I’m not a huge Jimboys fan. I mean, they’re ok. I just don’t like greasy tacos. I know, it’s a Mexican staple to have grease! And I love GREASYHOLEINTHEWALLMEXICAN! I just don’t like in Americanized Mexican. Kinda snobby, I know. I do like the parm. added to the shell, but minus that; nothing special.

Came to the Nevada City area for the weekend and the 2.5 hour drive from the Bay Area made me deliriously hungry. Once we checked in our hotel, we saw a bunch of fast food restaurants in grass valley and decided to try out Jimboy tacos. I ordered a beef taco and beef enchilada plate and hubby ordered a beef taco and chicken burrito. The beef taco was too salty for my taste and the enchilada plate was sub par. I didn’t bother eating the small side salad that came with the plate. Hubby’s chicken burrito was huge but wasn’t impressed with it either. I hate to say this but I’d rather eat at Taco Bell then Jimboy’s Tacos.

Guilty pleasure. I love Jimboy’s even though the food has got to be horrid for your arteries. A bit slow in the drive through, but at least it’s consistent so you can expect it.

Second time I went to Jimboys in Grass Valley that my cheese enchilada dinner was not cooked! The cheese was tossed into the tortilla and not melted. The first time it was cooked and returned in a timely manner. Then second time on Aug. 10th, I returned it to the counter. I waited 15 minutes, and watched 3 people pick up their orders. My husband had finished his dinner. I went to check on it and I was told«the order was still sitting on the counter to be re cooked!!!» it was over looked. I asked to speak to the manager, but he conviently had stepped out. I was told the girl was spoken to about forgetting my order. I ate my dinner and waited another 10 minutes to speak to the manager, but he still wasn’t available. I will NEVER go back to this Jimboys. I will go to the one in Auburn, where I know my over priced enchilada will be cooked, and I will be treated with respect. Terrible customer service!

Good place for a quick Mexican bite. The food is consistent with other Jimboy’s. This location has nice atmosphere and seems to be cleaner then most restaurants in the basin. The steak nachos can be surprising and better then expected, also give the original taco a try extra crispy… The drive through isn’t the speediest, but your not getting Tbell food. Overall a great establishment.

Jimboys is way better than taco bell and other fast food Mexican I’ve tried the shredded beef tacos with parmesan shell is awesome. Problem is they are small not a lot of meat and the last one I got I had hardly any cheese. At $ 2.79 each they are pretty spendy.

It’s fast food, nothing special but it’s decent. Service on the other hand is HORRID. They treat people like shit and are more engaged in personal conversations. Save yourself time, money and frustration and go elsewhere.

You could call this fast food if the service wasn’t so slow! The restaurant part is beautiful and huge. Every time I am there the place is almost empty. Me thinks they have worn out their welcome in GV. I love Jimboys. But not this one.

Our go-to fast mexican food place. The only issue is that sometimes it is a tad bit slow if you use the drive-thru. Other than that, this Jimboy’s is AWESOME. It is always super clean, totally friendly people work here, we have been going here for years. THe enchilada sauce rules and we always get a side of it to put on our random items. I love the veggie burrito. I also love the steak style fries with a small side of nacho sauce, dipped! YUM. The salsa and beans and lettuce and tomatoes here always taste fresh and have that signature jimboy’s flavor. Unlike another Jimboy’s I know(placerville) where the salsa constantly tastes fermented and everything seems out of whack compared to other Jimboys. This one is the real deal!

Grass Valley /Nevada City is totally lacking in decent Mexican food. However this Jimboy’s beats Taco Bell, Paco’s Taco’s, Maria’s, and Margaritas, HANDS-DOWN. Keep in mind — this is fast food! I’m not sure why a couple of the other reviewers give it only 1 star. Maybe they order stuff we don’t, but we like the items below. The shredded chicken tacos are very good, as is the cheese enchilada which comes on a decent-sized bed of mexican rice. We like the salsas, chili relleno, shrimp tacos. Lots and lots of vegetarian options here(unlike taco bell), also decent kids menu. As another reviewer mentioned, the chipotle salsa is good. We usually do the drive thru and it’s pretty fast(usually less than 5 min.), but sitting inside is usually a 5 – 10 min. wait on the food. #6 combo is our favorite(taco & enchilada plate). Skip the taquitos and flautas. The cream stuff churros are kind of deep-fried tasty grease bombs(great if you like donuts, which we do).

Fast food, but great fast food. Jim Boy taco’s are awesome, but different than anything you’ll get anywhere else, so be prepared. The shells are sprinkled with cheese. It’s sorta weird the first time you eat ‘em but it grows on you. Now I crave JB taco’s. I also love their burrito’s. Chipotle Salsa is their best(IMHO).

The food is delicious but this restaurant can kiss my ass!!! My little brother(16) lives in Grass Valley so when me and my sister went on his most recent school break to drop him back off he swore by Jimboys tacos. This place was shitty! Service =NONE!!! No high chairs for little ones so I don’t get why they advertise themselves as «kid friendly«they messed up my order after it was simplified so much it couldn’t have been an easier order… steak on a tortilla… they added rice and cheese anyway since they could not take a simple moment to make sure the cook understood… after we brought it to their attention an annoyed cashier took the burrito back… didn’t even offer it to keep since they messed up(like any Starbucks would) and the prices wow pretty much spent 40.00 on 3 people. for good food but poor service has cleanliness and unnnnkidfriendly! !!!
