Great local sub shop. Can’t go wrong with a Big Time!

Easily the best sub I’ve ever had. I ordered the California sub(turkey & avocado), and it was sooooo creamy and delicious. The turkey was sliced thin and tasted incredible. There was avocado in every single bite — yum! Not to mention the friendly and funny man at the cash register, and the fact that my sandwich was ready in a jif. I will be coming back soon! And it’s fairly inexpensive. Do yourself a favor and stop by for lunch.

This is the cutest family owned sub shop. Prices are very reasonable, everything is handmade and has a personal touch. I ordered the CA sub with turkey avo and cranberry and it was delicious. Definitely coming back.

I have been in Grass Valley just over a year now and I have had this sub place on my list of places to try.(Small biz, locally owned) Today was the day. 9 bucks for a med soda and bag of non gmo potato chips with the large hot sandwich. The sandwich was good and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Service was fast and because they do not offer WiFi I took it to go. I say try it and see what you think. The business, I recently noticed in the Union newspaper, is up for sale sooo… try it and report what you experience on Unilocal.Hope you enjoy.

First timers here while visiting the area. Subs were fresh and so yummy. Hubby loved his 14″ Big Time Sub & I got a 7″ Italian Sub. Love the variety they offer, as well as chip selection! Left feeling so satisfied & content. Great subs!

I went here yesterday for a quick lunch, and they made both of my sandwiches wrong. The girl behind the counter made them in about 3 minutes, and immediately went back to texting. They didn’t ask if it was ok, and glared when we had to grab more napkins(which were like one-ply toilet paper). I won’t be going back.

I work in grass valley. On lunch went here for the frist time. Orderd a 14“bbq beef. The bread was old and tuff. Bbq beef was slimy and had no flavor. Tuff bread plus bbq beef equal meat falling out. Lame I dont see them being there very long if u can make a good bbq beef sandwich. Will never go there agian.

If Jared has you craving subway, then this is the place for you. It’ll be the last time you even think of subway. These sandwiches are delicious and very reasonable. Decent amount of in house seating for a small place. Could benefit from a dry storage behind the counter as cases and cases of drinks sit in the dining area, but it’s worth it for a great sandwich.

I waited 30 minutes for a peanut butter sandwich one of the easiest sandwiches to make. I hate going to a place where phone orders and taken in the middle of ordering. I wonder how many times that happens. I think from now on I’ll go to Raley’s for my sandwiches

I had the turkey avocado and it was great and I must add… it actually had more than enough avocado which is rare for me. I usually end up asking for more and that wasn’t the case here. :-) I’m a germaphobe so as I first walked in and saw the kitchen area I was a little skeptical but that quickly changed and I felt very comfortable. They were super busy and the customers waiting in line all had great things to say and most of their Unilocal reviews are spectacular as well and now I see why! The only negative that I could say would be that they don’t offer a military discount but at that price point I honestly didn’t mind. When you decide to give them a try, I have one request… Get me one too! ;) Now I come here every time I’m in town. It’s my fav!!! :) Don’t forget to ask for a stamp card.

If you’re in downtown Grass Valley and looking to grab a bite to eat QUICK, this is your place. They are FAST even when the line is long! It’s actually quite impressive that they have both speed and accuracy! I’m not really into sandwiches but if I was I’d be in love with this place! My friends LOVE it.

Stopped here on our way thru town and so glad we did! The sandwiches are so good we may just make it a regular stop whenever we travel this way. I had the Turkey & Cranberry and my husband had the egg salad. Both were excellent. They had kid-sized sandwiches which we appreciated for our little ones. The young lady behind the counter was friendly and efficient. I wish this place was in my home town so that I could be a regular!

I’m from the area and a trip home for me is not complete until I’ve been to subsational a few times. Admittedly my review is biased by memories of childhood but to this day the sandwiches are reasonably priced, simple and delicious. No pretentiousness, just good food. Check it out if you’re nearby

I stopped in to this deli as per Unilocal’s guidance. I was looking for a solid sammich, and this seemed like a great option. The owner was so kind, and was overly patient as I didn’t know what I wanted. The sandwich itself was a bit lack luster. I had avocado on it, which is delish, but the slices were SO big that the bread ended up breaking in half and all of the avocado fell out the bottom of the sandwich — sad times. The atmosphere is that of any local deli, family friendly, and lots of seating.

My gf and I tend to stop here on out way to or returning from Reno. The sandwiches are good and price isn’t bad. One morning we drove in 15 min before they opened and were on a time crunch to get to Reno. The owner prioritized us and got us our sandwiches in a timely manner, despite still opening. I would mark a 5, but nothing strikes me as «Wow amazing», but it’s good and I will without a doubt be back.

Gosh, this would be the perfect time to give 3.5 stars. The struggle… I really love the number one here. It has a variety of meats and is really delicious. In fact, it is probably one of my favorite sandwiches of anywhere I go. Excluding Ike’s(SF), of course. However, given this place is in Grass Valley, it’s really a consistently good spot to have lunch. And, like the other reviews pointed out, they are always very fast. I knock it down because the customer service isn’t great. I have experienced pretty good service at best. It is totally hit and miss, though. The service can go from ‘pretty good’ to ‘poor’ depending on the day. It has never been bad enough to leave me frustrated or not wanting to come back, just don’t think of it like they are going to bed over backwards attempting to make you feel welcome. Overall, this is a great place to try if you are in the area!

Please take a look at the photos of my «salad» before getting mad that I only put one star. I went in the shop 20 minutes ago and was so furious that I literally dropped everything I was doing to write this review. I am a business owner and Hospitality Business Management was my major. I walked into this place and stood there waiting for the owner to finish his personal conversation with someone hanging out before he even addressed me. I stared at him for a good 30 seconds with a smile on my face before he finally said :“You ready?“ Me: «I’d like a turkey avocado sandwich for my friend with these toppings.» Listing off the toppings. He got distracted after writing that down and started talking to the other guy again. «Oh yeah. You. And what do YOU want?: Me: «How is your chicken salad?» Him: «As opposed to what?» Me: «Well, is it a basic green salad with chicken on it, or with chicken SALAD on it?» The menu is unclear. «Chicken salad.» «Okay.» so I ordered it and the sandwich. My salad cost $ 6 plus tax, not bad for a salad, seeing as how I paid about $ 700 at the French Laundry for one meal once, but please refer to the photo I posted. The«salad» they gave me is basically a really bad sandwich in a plastic container. It’s shaved lettuce, tomatoes, PICKLES, onions, pepperoncinis, sliced cheese and a small scoop of «chicken salad.» No dressing. Nothing actually resembling a salad. The girl working handed it to me and I took it out of the bag and looked at it. Aside from it looking not like a salad, there was no dressing, no fork in the bag, nothing. I looked at the owner. He said: «You want some dressing?» I started walking away. «You want a fork or something?» I kept walking right up to the salon I own and started typing this. I have never been treated so poorly by a supposed owner of a business, and have never seen such a shitty salad. I will NEVER patronize this establishment again. I take pride in my business and it’s sad to see people who would run a business in a small town that is DIRTY, old, run-down and serving such crappy food.

I’ve been here about 5 times in the last 10 years and have not really been that impressed until today. I got a turkey and avocado sandwich, 7″ for around 5.50. It was delicious! It had ample meat, condiments and tons of avocado. They lose a star for the bread. They are soft rolls that taste great, but I am not a fan of this type of roll. I like a little crunch and prefer french bread. If you are visiting GV and need a quick and clean sandwich, this is the place.
