I searched everywhere for a certain tv series on DVD to rent. Finally found it here! I love the selection and movie sales here. Prices are reasonable for a 5 day rental. I miss the ice cream though, not that I need it.

I truly miss Video Library! I’ve never found a mom ‘n pop store in So-Cal that even comes close to VL. Cult classic section for the win!

Doesn’t sell any food any more except fpr candy bars. This is still the best place in town to rent a DVD, but the food side of this business is gone.

Good selection and staff is helpful. I wish the movies had a bit more international and indie exposure, but they are working on it. It is getting better every year. I F*%#ing Hate Blockbuster, so these folks are the only game in town really. I also like that they eschew the whole«adult» section which makes most store a bit on the slimy side. Good selection. Frequent contests and giveaways, and the staff is «alternative» young and personable.

Okay, for the sake of magnanimity, we’ll start at five stars. Video Library, you’ve been there for me since I first moved to Grass Valley ten years ago and I have fond memories of you dating back to high school. But recently, I’ve become a little less enamored. I took away a star because of the availability of new releases; I hate to give any props to Blockbuster here, but they do at least ensure that they have plenty of copies of Knocked Up to go around the day it comes out. But I’ll give you back that star because you do have a great«employee favorites» section, chosen by people who obviously watch and enjoy good movies, and not crap like The Princess Diaries(Hollywood Video, I’m looking at you). And I’ll throw in another star for the ice cream; even though I’ve never personally bought ice cream from you, it’s a cute touch. We’re up to six stars– wow! Plus another star for not being all anal about kids renting movies on their parents’ accounts. I know you never believed my name was Linda but you looked the other way and I appreciate that. Uh-oh. You don’t have any sort of Netflix-type arrangement? No unlimited movies for ten bucks a month? Unthinkable. Almost enough to send me over to… well, you know. I’m going to have knock off three stars for that. And another because, well, why do so many girls work there now? Half of your appeal used to be the cute artsy boys behind the counter, surely there must be reserves somewhere? But, okay, you can have that one back because I realize it’s a little unfair, after all I’m getting a little old to be checking out high school guys anyway… Which leaves us at four stars! Not perfect, but pretty darn good.

Blockbuster bites ass. Video Library is the way to go. They actually have genre sections!!! What are you looking for? Horror? Classics? Musicals? Music videos? Foreign? Documentaries? LOVE this place.

This is the only video rental place we go to. One year I(and many others) won their annual contest, by picking every Academy Award winner in the major categories. I got some free video rentals. So I figure I owe them. They have a pretty varied selection, for a place that is not huge. They only offer DVDs now. I strongly recommend this place over the local Blockbuster.

Blockbuster up the street? Who cares! The staff here know what they are talking about when it comes to movies. Their prices are very reasonable and they have a full ice cream bar! Places like the Video Library make Grass Valley unique.
