I’ve been looking for a place to get good Chinese food from since May and finally I’ve found it! The restaurant is clean and the food is good. We ordered chicken with garlic sauce and sweet and sour chicken. Both met our expectations.
I’ll definitely be visiting this place again. It’s worth the 15 – 20 drive past at least two that’s within 5 minutes from my home.

Best Chinese food I’ve had in the area. Much better quality than the popular competitors. We ordered orange chicken, chicken fried rice and two egg rolls. The egg rolls were crisp and not greasy at all. The orange chicken was a generous portion– we even had left overs which never happens. Sometimes Chinese restaurants fill the meat dish with veggies and sauce to take up room, but not China Chef! It was packed full of deliciousness. The fried rice was pretty good too. Chicken was a little rubbery in that dish but I gotta tell ya, this is quality Chinese food.

I drive by two other places from Lake Villa to pick up orders from China Chef. They’re the best I’ve tried from about a half dozen locations around me for Chinese-American cuisine. The restaurant isn’t much to look at, but the food is very good and portion sizes are large.

My family loves this place. It’s not fancy, or haute cuisine. It’s take out Chinese. It’s pretty good, very consistent, and affordable. We always have leftovers.

Food was very good and price comparable! The crab Rangoon was Amazing!!! The only difference between 4 and 5 stars for me is the chicken fried rice, didn’t have a ton of taste and the onions were a bit large for me. Overall, highly recommend

I ate here with the family a few days ago. Rude Chinese woman was all by herself taking orders, taking care if her kids, and probably cooking all by herself too. Food was so so, none of it spectacular in any way. Place looked dirty. Had egg drop and hot and sour soup, lemon chicken, egg foo young, and shrimp lo mein. All mediocre.

I tried this restaurant for the first time a few weeks ago for takeout. Overall, this place is a solid choice (nothing fancy, but tasty food). I ordered the lo mien dish and my boyfriend ordered the general tso’s chicken. Both of these entrees came with fried rice and an egg roll. The portions were huge! We could have easily shared one with some to spare. We shared an order of fried wontons.
Everything that we ordered were tasty. There was nothing mind blowing about each dish, but it definitely fulfilled the Chinese takeout craving quite adequately. The price was right, portions were large. I would definitely order here again.

Absolutely terrible!!! Dirty, flavorless food, served cold, had to ask for plates multiple times would only give you a couple at a time. Didn’t even finish our meal it was so disgusting!

Very solid American Style Chinese food, the best we’ve tasted in Northern Lake county, by far.
I’m from NY and we are pretty picky about our Chinese, and this place definitely satisfies our occasional cravings.
Would earn a 5^th star if they delivered! (It’s pick-up only at the moment)

Just ordered from them today for the first time. Gotta say it was pretty good! I ordered hot & sour soup, fried wonton, and the Dragon and Phoenix dish, which was great. A combination of shrimp, vegetables and General Tso’s chicken in the same dish? Yes please. And like other posters said, pretty big portions, too.

Delicious food and have plenty of authentic Chinese food. Great price and the portion size is great. My favorites are Singapore noodles, beef chow fun, ma po tofu… Best Chinese take out place around this area.
No MSG and you can ask for some modification of the order and they are very good at doing so. I often add additional tips to the take out because of that, and it worth it.

A typical order-at-the-counter Chinese restaurant with lit-up photos of some of the dishes on the wall. Maybe there were 6 tables in the place.
I ordered sesame chicken and an egg roll. It was okay. Maybe someday I will return and try something different, but for now, it isn’t a place I would recommend.
