Fun friendly and good food. Been eating there since we bought our first house in Great Falls in October 1981. Sunday night was no exception. It has only gotten better over the years. It has been nice watching this establishment evolve over the years to meet the community’s needs. K L

My husband and I have been here as well as Katie’s coffee house several times despite not having checked in. Each time we have been here the wait staff has been unfriendly and rush us to order after making us wait for service(this is for both sides of the restaurant). We came back only because we thought maybe they were having a bad/busy day. After waiting once again, we were seated by a seemingly unhappy employee. The restaurant was dead and service was extremely slow. We received water, which was from the tap and tasted horrendous(yes, I drink tap water, but this was really bad). The sign says happy hour is at 4pm but the server says there are no specials until 4:30pm. It took 25min to get our appetizers(we got the chicken wings) but the flavor was good. When 4:30pm finally rolled by our server came by with the«specials menu» but in stead of handing one to us, he tossed it on our table without saying anything and walked away. When the server came back, instead of asking if we wanted to get entrees he simply said«anything else?». At this point I was ready to get my food and leave so I ordered an entrée for my husband and I to share and asked for my check. We ordered the Wednesday special«prime rib». I was not asked if I want everything on my baked potato, which I don’t, so my husband had to eat it since it can out with everything on it. He said the bacon bits tasted like it had been sitting in old rancid oil. The prime rib was ordered medium rare but was clearly rare and the au jus was watery and weak. A popover came on top of the prime rib which was soggy and stale. The check was the quickest thing to come out as it only took 30 seconds to a minute to get, which I paid for and was astonished that the server came back and took the finished check before we even got our food instead of waiting till we leave(bad etiquette). The food’s flavor was good but was over priced compared to the quality. It may finally be time for us to stop trying to make excuses for why the service is so bad and discontinue coming here.

It is very hard to recreate the authenticity of an Irish Pub in another country but this is one place that has done it in my opinion. The food that purported to be Irish was excellent and it was authentic Irish, and the service was first class. I visited here after going to the Great Falls and it was so good I made a special visit from Washington just to have lunch here a few months later. I always hesitate in giving an excellent rating to a review especially a restaurant as I want to be able to go there whenever I want to and I don’t want it to be fully booked! I would take my Irish friends here.

Great Falls staple. Noisy, but friendly atmosphere. Good food, I suggest any of the Irish pub foods(stew is especially good). Never had an issue with the staff. Only place in Great Falls to get Hard Cider…

The restaurant has a old dish rag moldy smell when you enter. Not too appetizing. The hummus was average and the veggies were just thrown on the plate. The pitas were nothing special.

We normally really enjoy the Old Brouge. However, unfortunate changes have occurred. One of my favorite menu items changed, and not for the better — namely, the ribeye steak sandwich served was just leftover meat that was fatty and mostly uneatable. Our dinner companions were equally aghast. The Old Brogue was incredibly busy, so I waited until the next day to call and complain. While initially met with apologies from a manager, I was disappointed the promised follow-up did not occur. We’ve always liked the Old Brogue, but something has changed that has negatively impacted both quality and service. Old Brogue management, please return your former excellence.

I am a fan of the Brogue. My fav was fried chicken night. My husband loves the sausage platter. The Brogue is great for a reasonably priced lunch or dinner w great service. In Great Falls you either liked the Brogue or Tavern(which is now gone). I was always team Brogue

This place is a GEM. My friend and I were in the area after our hike on Sunday, and we were hungry and looking for a place to eat. We found The Old Brogue on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and my friend ordered the Fish n Chips — both delicious! They also have a great draft beer selection. Their bartender, Young, was friendly and very attentive while we were asking questions about the beers. We’ll definitely go back again.

Went on cold but sunny day with our dog and needed to sit outside. At first the hostess told us no they weren’t serving out there, but the manager was kind enough to say of course they’d do it for us. The food was typical pub food, nothing special, but the service was excellent. Saw a lot of families there on a Sunday afternoon. The patio where we were sitting was very cozy. There was also a coffee shop as part of the building. Would definitely go back if in the area.

The restaurant had a very cute patio which is where we dined. The menu was very appealing however we must have made poor selections. I got the lemon chicken with crab cake, potatoes, and spinach. My husband got the Parmesan crusted trout with mashed potatoes and spinach. The sides were pretty good however the fish was a very plain battered piece of fish with a red spaghetti sauce on top. The crab cake was pretty good however the chicken was extremely bland. Let’s just say the entrees were definitely nowhere near worth 17 $ each. However, I will say the people we went with seemed pleased with their Reuben and salmon salad. This maybe more of a sandwich type place.

This review is specifically about the brunch. The corned beef hash was cold, the breakfast potatoes were obviously a frozen product that had been heated up, and the breakfast pancakes tasted like a purchased mix. For the prices, a higher quality is expected. Service and ambiance were very pleasant.

Wine is good, prices are ok, location is not bad Staff are a bit overbearing. Clientele seems very family-oriented, so if you’re looking to take a date out, this is an awkward place to go. You’ll be slurping adult drinks across from a table with 6 screaming kids or grandma and grandpa with a bunch of relatives from out of town. A-w-k-w-a-r-d. Skip it, unless you’re just looking for Perkins but with a wine menu. Seems like a total time warp to 1996, in ways both good and bad.

The food here is really below average. I’m sure all 3+ star reviews on here are from old white people with no taste buds. I ordered the Swedish Eggs – eggs Benny with salmon instead of Canadian bacon. The hollandaise sauce was very weak and had more of a liquidy consistency than a thick sauce. The potatoes that came with the dish weren’t special at all; they were cubed and fried but somehow weren’t crispy. My mom ordered fish & chips and while the fish was fried well, my dad said he smelled something funny about it and we determined the fish was not fresh. Probably frozen all week. My dad ordered shepherd’s pie and I felt really bad for him because he was excited about having authentic shepherd’s pie, but this was probably the worst dish of all. The potato crust on top was not crispy at all; in fact, it was very doughy and seemed undercooked. The beef or whatever was inside was bland and underseasoned and I barely saw any vegetables that were supposed to be in there. Also, patio seating: it’s a nice concept except for the fact that three of the tables closest to the trash can are infested with flies. My family sat down at one of these tables and then had to move after five minutes. We saw the same thing happen to at least 3 other parties that came in to eat. I’m only giving this place 2 stars because our waitress was nice. All of our mediocre food plus a beer and a glass of wine came out to $ 75 including tip. Please spare yourself this horrendous yet somehow expensive dive restaurant and eat a decent meal at like, Popeye’s or something.

We visited this traditional Irish Pub with a friend for his birthday. It was a warm day for VA and we sat inside. There are not a lot of windows so it felt cool and dark inside. We sat at the bar on comfortable chairs and our server was super friendly. We order a couple of Guinness and talked to her about what she recommended. The most popular dish is their fish and chips. They also had lobster rolls and a Maryland crab cake sandwich. I enjoyed the fish and chips. The plate came with 2 fillets that were just the right size to be crispy and not soggy in the middle. The sauce was a dill based and was pleasant. The chips were typical fries. People around us seemed to be locals and were chatting about this and that. This looks to be a popular gathering spot for the area. I hope we can visit again in the evening before we leave.

Had the shrimp tacos the other day for lunch, it was alright but the shrimp tasted extremely fishy and I’m normally not bothered by that… they felt a bit rubbery too. But I didn’t get sick so it turned out fine! I’ll be back for lunch soon and will try more things

I lived mclean all my life. Today this white hairy looking stuff came with my order of burger and fries. As normal asked for manager. He came out to me and rather apologizing he said two things to me, «I will buy your burger and what do you want me to do about it». What a poor way to handle this matter. Been coming here for years but I’m done here today.

Pictures on the Unilocal business page do not justice when you’re trying to determine whether or not to eat here! They have great happy hour specials on appetizers and wine. There weren’t too many people there in the early evening, so we were able to choose our own table outdoors(roofed). My date and I ordered the sausage rolls for appetizers and we both got the chicken pot pie(«Dillard»? Pot pie, I believe), and we also ordered two glasses of white wine(forgot what type, but it had strong notes of citrus and grapefruit). The sausage rolls were chopped and wrapped in a flaky pastry, sort of like«pigs in blankets». Cooked great actually, since the meat wasn’t dried out and instead, was very flavorful. The pot pies came out and the pie top was perfect, also flaky and golden. However, when I dug in to the chicken mixture(combination of white and dark meat, potatoes, and vegetables), I didn’t expect it to taste the way it did. The soup mixture was actually very sour, and I had to put more pepper into it to balance the taste. I wasn’t sure if it was an Irish custom to actually have it taste like this, but I had to balance the taste out with the pie top and green beans(which were wonderfully seasoned, pretty tangy with whatever sauce it was on top). Overall, I believe this place deserves a three mostly because of that unexpected sour taste to my pot pie. Would definitely come back, but I may just order something else. Definitely try the wine selections though during their happy hour! Those wine descriptions are very accurate.

Good location with outdoor tables and inside, good service, moderately priced brunch and sandwiches, went there for lunch. Had several friends with me, some got beers, I got the lemonade, corned beef and hash, salmon bagel sandwich, and a fish sandwich. All tasted good, quick service and easily got split checks. Would recommend for informal get together or meal.

Not a bad place to make a pit stop and grab a bite and beer. Outdoor seating is a nice feature and you can tell this place has some history. Looks like a good place to come during happy hour on a Thursday or Friday. I came on a Wednesday right before happy hour(4pm-6pm) and it was moderately busy. The iceberg lettuce is delish!

this was my first time visiting this venue and it was a really nice place in Great Falls, Va. The staff was attentive and there were«Stand In» wait staff during the Leukemia & Lymphoma event. Live music and plenty of food to go around. The reviews are high for this place and I have to give my 4 out of 5 stars as well. I will return on a night that doesn’t have an event to see if the visit is just as nice. The food was really good as I didn’t expect to enjoy anything at first glance. If there is only one thing I would change it would be to add other locations. The drive during rush hour is brutal and once you are there parking is difficult with sporting events going in the park. This location has a lot of regulars and they welcome you as if you are family. I recommend this as a place to visit if you are visiting Great Falls Park or in the area for another reason.

I’ve come back here a bunch more times since my old review and thought it deserved an update. Come here for the authentic 2 piece crispy fried chicken dinner served only on Thursday nights. Comes with 2 sides– mashed potatoes here are also great. Its the best fried chicken I’ve ever had! It deserves 5 stars!

A nice casual place to grab a nice hot bite to eat and a nice drink. The food is nothing over the top special, but it’s decent pub food. I wasn’t very impressed about the sausage rolls; felt that it was a bit over priced. The calamari was crispy and the asian-influenced sauce was tasty, but seemed out of place for an Irish pub. The fish and chips portion was a nice size and the fish was golden crispy o the outside with a nice flaky interior. The chips/fries portion that seemed overly generic. The pie was more flavorful and more fun to eat, with it’s steaming, gravy-laden filling and crisp pie top.
