I think this is a great, little library! First, it’s open 8 – 8 most days, where most local libraries don’t open until 10 or 11. Second, I just love the kids’ area. There’s books, of course, but there’s also fun stuff for kids to climb on, color, and snuggle with. I agree that the creepy painter statue at the front entrance needs to go, but overall I have no real complaints about this library. There are a lot of book and media options and the librarians are friendly and helpful. Aside from my kid(who has difficulty using his ‘inside voice’), I’ve never known it to be a noisy place. Rather, it’s a cozy nook in quiet downtown Greendale that’s worth a visit … or five.

A little library nestled in the heart of «Historic Downtown Greendale». This block might be the creepiest street in the whole city. Maybe it’s all the old people walking around, trying to relive the days of their youth by looking at this street to trigger some kind of sense memory. Maybe it’s the creepy mannequin painter set up on the street painting the Village Hall in front of said Hall. If the next Fallout game took place in Milwaukee, this area of Broad street would be the first level. It’s unsettling enough to shake your nerves. Anyways, this library is packed to the brims with books and other media. It’s small, but they use their space wisely. Everything is easy to find, including the DVD’s. I appreciate that they alphabetize all the DVD’s. Most libraries in the area either throw their discs wherever or just stick the titles that start with A in one bin, titles that start with B in another, etc. You can actually find discs pretty easy here, making your visit very convenient if you know what you want. As far as the other reviews, I was in and out, so it seemed pretty quiet to me. With Southridge so close, I’m dumbfounded why any teens would be at the library. Nonetheless, there is a creepy dummy down the block who has been painting the same picture for years, so I guess anything can happen on this block. If you want convenience, this is your place. Just don’t expect a whole lot.

Don’t come here on a weekend afternoon if you’re looking for a quiet place to read/study/work. The middle schoolers hang out here after class. I could have gone to a bar and it would have been more quiet than this library.
