I’ve been a few times and each time I love it more and more. The pasta is so fresh and cooked perfectly. The sauces are light and seasoned well. The portions are perfect as I have room for dessert and then don’t feel like a ball of carbs rolling out the door. The bread is something I could just keep eating forever and ever. Everyone who works there is so nice and accommodating. Already can’t wait to go back. So happy to have this gem of a place within walking distance.

Alrighty… Let’s get down to business! I had made reservations as it is Father’s Day. We walked in at 1:45 and there was a single party in the back. I was worried!!! Why no patrons? We were offered a variety of choices of where to sit, we got comfy and looked at the menu. We started with an antipasti with the tagliere which was amazing! The mortadella mousse was amazing on the bread! We shared happily and received more bread when it was offered. The bread was soooo good! We didn’t order pasta, going for our secondi– red snapper(superb!) branzino(so well seasoned– beware it is not filleted so there are bones) and finally bistecca alla fiorentina. We all tasted each other’s dishes. Each done to perfection. We rested a little, I ordered a limoncello which is homemade. Very potent and yummy as an apéritif! On to the desserts… The olive oil cake which has a lemony flavor with vanilla bean gelato, deconstructed cannolo and chocolate budino were all well received! This place was wonderful and we will be visiting again! And soon. Thanks for a terrific meal! By the time we were leaving it was becoming more busy, btw! Beautiful place!

Had dinner with three people there yesterday — and was stunned by the food quality and amazing service. We started out with some cocktails, which were great and then had 4 starters and 3 mains. All of them were really great. Mixed veggies were a highlight, as was the Parpadelle(which I had as my main). Highly recommended, definitely coming back!

This place is the real deal– a few friends and I happened upon this place after our original pick turned us away bc those kitchen didn’t open till 6p(we walked in at 5:30!) so I looked on Unilocal and boom– Naked Dog was open and close and perfect. Service was spot on– drinks served fast and refilled when needed. But the highlight was the food– homemade pasta perfection! I had the scallop special– it was delicious and I am craving for a second plate! We ordered all the desserts and shared– my fav — – olive oil cake! This place is wonderful– it should be your pick when your in greenpoint!

This restaurant allies style and hype with traditional ingredients and cooking talent. And we are very used to Italian restaurants in Italy or elsewhere in Europe. The crispy eggplant with burrata, the fried seafood, the two pasta(tagliatelle and agnolotti) that we had were really amazing. What’s more, the staff is super nice and knowledgeable about the menu. The owners were also there and very friendly. Ah, I almost forgot the wine list, very well chosen! In a nutshell, highly recommended. Jenn & Jean

The food was delicious!!! The red sauce on the spaghetti was the best I’ve ever had! I almost ordered a second serving to bring home. I had a problem with my bill and the owners were unbelievable in communicating with me and rectifying it immediately. I have come by such excellent customer service in this city in a while.

So happy to find house made pasta in Greenpoint. The food was perfection. We had the eggplant appetizer with balsamic vinegar drizzle and cheese(name escapes me) but it was fabulous and plenty for two. I had the braised short rib and it was by far the best I’ve ever had(served on a perfectly crisped helping of Polenta). My only complaint is that for the Manhattan prices, there should be a side vegetable or salad. The wine was fabulous but very pricy. The bread was also delicious) served with olives) but you will get no more than two pieces at a time.

This was one of the best culinary experiences I have ever had. I’ve eaten at pretty much every great restaurant in town in the middle price range and nothing compares. For the app, we had the vegetable special, crispy eggplant with burrata for the main, my friend had the pork rage pasta and my other friend had the beef bolognese… I had the short rib with polenta cake and it was phenomenal. Moving on, we had the deconstructed cannolo(it was delicious and huge, I just ate some of it for breakfast!), Gelato(cherry, vanilla and pistachio=Delicious!) and the Tiramisu, it was excellent. For 4 dollars, hop the east river ferry walk a block up and a block over for the best meal in Greenpoint and peobably all of Brooklyn!

Honestly I was turned off from this restaurant due to the name–«Naked Dog”– Strange! But Crap was I wrong. I had a couple friends go and highly recommended it. After I heard great reviews and did my research on Unilocal I decided to give it a go– I’m glad that I did. I would like to start off with the décor: The bar area is differently designed from the seating area— It feels like you are in two different places at the same time. I love when a restaurant makes the extra effort to make the décor inside make you feel like home. The Staff: Amazing! Great service, all around 5 stars! Let’s get down to the real reason you are reading this review– THEFOOD! To Start Let me tell you everything is Heaven in your mouth! I can’t say one bad thing about the food. except that the serving size could have been tripled and you still want to order what the people next to you are eating. So far I have had the pleasure of tasting the following: — Torretta Di Melanzane– Love Eggplant and it’s done in a perfect not to heavy so you can still taste the actual eggplant. — Bruschetta Pesto e Burrata– Love pesto and the basil gives it that extra kick in your mouth– Who wouldn’t love this! — Tagliatelle– any dish that has pasta and wild mushrooms in the name count me in!!! – I forgot the name of the pork belly dish– But that was also Heaven! You can NEVER go wrong with anything you order– Trust me! Drinks: They have a great assortment of wine and Beers: They have also a great spin on the drinks. Unfortunately\ I was unable to have one since I drove but next time– Watch out! I want to come back to try Brunch– Can’t wait. Get it while it’s hot.

Hip but yet modern classy Italian spot in Greenpoint. Went here with a group of four on a Saturday night and the place wasn’t that busy. They have a nice selection of food on the menu and a full bar with plenty of wine. I tried the Agnolotti pasta and the Red Snapper. Both dishes were great. Just the right size and mix of ingredients. All of their pasta is made in house, that is always a plus. The service was great. Paulie Gee’s had their usual 2 hour wait on a Saturday night, so we decided to switch it up and come here. You can be like me and do the same thing if you get in the same pickle.

The name Naked Dog to me conjures up images of a dirty dive bar or maybe a hot dog joint, but don’t be fooled — this Italian restaurant and bar is so much classier than what you might expect. The space is absolutely gorgeous — beautiful lighting, and you can tell they put a ton of thought into each detail. It’s still pretty new, so you’re likely to be able to stop in pretty much whenever for a meal and be seated right away. But trust me, it won’t last long because I’m sure soon enough the word will get out and people will be breaking down the doors. On to the prices: it’s definitely not a cheap meal, with most cocktails going for at least $ 10 and pasta dishes around $ 15-$ 18. If you’re having a proper Italian meal with antipasto, a pasta course, and an entrée, you could easily get up to $ 60/person before drinks. Then again, for the wonderful ambiance, top notch service, and most of all that heavenly pasta, it’s totally worth it. The hit of the night was the tagliatelle with mushrooms and thyme butter sauce. It was one of those moments when everyone else at the table had a pang of jealousy that I ordered it and they got other things. That being said, everyone was happy with their dishes so the hostility didn’t last long. The only less than stellar choice for us was the olive oil cake for dessert. I typically love this dish but the night we had it it was quite dry. The flavor was delicious and still definitely edible when paired with the vanilla ice cream, but I probably wouldn’t order that one again. Even if you just come for a drink, you’re definitely in for an experience. The wines were delicious and they had a creative cocktail menu that had something for everyone. The servers are so helpful that they’d definitely find something perfect for you. It was one of the most pleasant dinners I’d had in a long time, and can’t wait to return. Thanks Naked Dog!

Arguably, the best Italian food in all of Brooklyn! With creative desserts like deconstructed cannoli and olive oil cake that I can only describe as «to die for!»

This is really a 4.5 star review. My boyfriend and I first came here for brunch with another couple on the first weekend Naked Dog was serving brunch(unbeknownst to us). Needless to say, it was virtually empty, which was great. Some of the brunch dishes are also on the dinner menu, but there are others that are unique to brunch, such as the porchetta sandwich on focaccia with caramelized onions, which is what I got. I don’t usually gravitate toward pork, but for some reason this sandwich sounded appealing. It did not disappoint – extremely tasty. My boyfriend got a short rib sandwich, which he also said was superb. The other two got the pappardelle with bolognese, which they loved(this item is also on the dinner menu). We were all so pleased with our meals that we vowed to return for dinner later in the week. The four of us did indeed come back a few days later for dinner. We arrived at 8:15 and there was plenty of seating available. To start, my boyfriend and I split the torretta di melanzane(fried eggplant, fresh burrata, reduced balsamic), which was delicious. Hard to go wrong with burrata. For main courses, one of our friends stuck with the pappardelle with beef bolognese again(why deviate from a good thing?). My boyfriend tried this as well and loved it. I got a special – squid ink pasta with crab meat – and our other friend ordered the maltagliati with white pork ragu and rosemary. I really liked the special a lot, but the portion seemed to be smaller than the other dishes, so that was a little disappointing. Our friends also got broccoli rabe and brussels sprouts on the side, which they liked(the broccoli rabe wasn’t bitter at all). Unfortunately, our friend who got the maltagliati did not care for it. It seemed to have way too much nutmeg in it, which really bothered her. She debated whether to just power through it, but ended up sending it back. The staff was extremely gracious about this, and offered to bring her something else(she got the pappardelle, which she was very happy with). They came back to check on us several times to make sure everything was satisfactory. Truly excellent service. For dessert, my boyfriend and I split the olive oil cake with vanilla bean gelato(tasted good, but the cake was incredibly dry), and our friends split the affogato, which they said was good, not great. All in all, I loved everything I had at both brunch and dinner with the exception of the dessert, so I definitely plan on returning. The service is also great, and the restaurant doesn’t seem to get too crowded or too loud, which are nice bonuses.

I came here with a large group a few days before Christmas, and, to be honest, we were quite obnoxious. In spite of this, the restaurant staff treated us like we were important guests. I don’t know if it was out of fear – I mean, we were armed with forks and knives – or because they treat everyone that kindly, but I can’t exactly say that we deserved their patience. This, alone, has compelled me to write my first Unilocal review, and earns them 5 stars. And now, on to the food! We ordered at least half of the menu, so I tried most of the appetizers and a couple entrées. My sister’s orrechiette was nice, and the portion size was good. I ordered the salmon, which was only mildly seasoned with a peppered crust, but was surprisingly good. The salmon was a sizable portion, and the added lentils and chard made the dish substantial and satisfying. I emphasize portion sizes because these two were inconsistent with the portion sizes of most of the other dishes. Many of the entrées were similar in size to the appetizers. A fellow diner who happens to have a stomach the size of a Cocoa Puff actually had to order more food, and he ordered an appetizer because it was more substantial than his entrée. Some of the appetizers seemed overpriced, such as the bruschetta, which consisted of three thin and narrow slices of pesto-topped bread with burrata. Split among three people, it would be five bucks per person, or one dollar per bite, though I guess all the money goes into the burrata? We ordered more than one, and the slices were notably smaller in one plate than the other. Were it not for their exceptional service, I would dock their rating a star or two. My advice: since most of the food is quite nice, do yourself a favor and just ask for the dishes that are most filling. Your stomach and wallet might be fuller, and likely happier.

Naked Dog is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood! My boyfriend and I split the delicious frittura appetizer, which was very lightly fried, and then shared the tagliatelle and the rib eye — the pasta was delicious and the steak was one of the best we ever had. We also ordered two desserts(apparently we were really hungry), the deconstructed cannolo and another one I forget the name of that was a scoop of gelato with espresso and coffee liqueur on the side for you to pour on. They were both amazing! Our waitress was also extremely kind and helpful. We will definitely be returning!

One of my favorite restaurants in NYC, period. Tremendous food, excellent service, great ambiance and setting, the right level of crowded, and good prices. Worth getting on the G train for, and that’s not something I say lightly.

I celebrated my birthday at Naked Dog in late December right before Christmas. I had been adventuring in the hood one day and stumbled across it, astonished that I didn’t know it was a new spot that just opened. When I emailed the restaurant asking about a party of 14 on the Sunday before Christmas they were extremely accommodating about it. Thank you, Naked Dog staff! Naturally with such a large group it takes some time to get things sorted out and ordered. They were tastefully patient with us as we said our hellos, hugs, catch ups and finally ordered. They cook to order here which is very obvious by the freshness of the cuisine. I was very impressed with how delicious the food was, especially my yummy portion of scallop. Most others seemed pleased with their fresh made pastas and my husband said it was the best short rib he ever tried. I’m sad to knock a star off but have to because portion size was a joke. Especially for the pastas. Maybe because they the less expensive entrée, but my goodness it was pretty sad when those tiny plates came out. Even worse most of the pasta orderers were guys who eat a LOT, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they left hungry. We felt the same about the salads we started with. The check was pricey regardless of the portions. Naked Dog, please step it up on portion and give BKers what they want. Great service, ambiance and selection are great but the key to our hearts is a full belly.

This is my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood– delicious food, drinks and dessert. It’s beautifully lit and decorated, and has a gorgeous bar. They can easily accommodate larger parties as well. I was so happy to have dinner with friends here within their first week of opening. My party and I loved our appetizers. I especially loved the burrata and frittura. I’ve never had such lightly breaded, fried seafood. We enjoyed several pastas, which are made in house. You can’t go wrong with any of them. And capped of dinner with their olive oil cake. Try their signature cocktails. The Hornet was incredible; I’ve never had anything like it. They also have a great selection of wines to choose from. Naked Dog is the perfect place to enjoy a fresh, delicious meal.
