This pizza is the BEST. I brought some of my coworkers here, and we all absolutely loved it. This is not your typical New York grab-a-slice-and-go type of places. Be prepared to sit down and order a full pie. Pies are small(6 pieces with a thin crust), so you can definitely get a few to try and share. Our favorites were the Hellboy, the Not the Quattro Formaggi, and A Whiter Shade of Kale. Small but good selection of beer on tap as well. We all can’t wait to go back here!

Pizza was really good but I was impressed by the place/ambience more. Service was great also. Interior was interesting especially of restrooms. Pizza crust was perfect neapolitan. Hellboy pizza was hell-yeah anyway!

Excellent pies here!!! It isn’t the best pizza in the city– that honor still belongs to Di Fara. But, you can’t really go wrong here. The pies are very very eclectic, they have a long list with a wide assortment of toppings. You could probably eat here for weeks and not try every pie. My friend and I ordered a «Brian Di Brisket» and a «Hellboy», both were delicious. There are other things to order, sides and desserts, but we just came for the pie. The brisket pizza was excellent with a wonderful interplay between the sweet ingredients and the smoky salty brisket. The Hellboy was a nice juxtaposition with its sweet and spicy honey contrasted the hot and spicy sausage(sopressata I believe). The crusts on both pies were excellent, perfectly charred and crispy. We didn’t order any drinks(weeknight rule) but their beer list looked outstanding. The staff is extremely nice and very efficient. Heather took care of us and she was great, our drinks were always full and our every need was catered to. On a very special note the owner came by our table and asked us about our experience! How often does that happen in this city? I can only remember a handful of times in my 10 years here. It was very special of him(Paulie Gee?). There might be a few places that make pies as good or better, but their space is beautiful and cozy, their staff is amazing, so Paulie Gee’s is definitely worth a trip(or two, or three…) I hope to make a return trip soon. Then I’ll start making my way through their long list of pies.

There’s a LOT of really great pizza in NYC, that’s nothing new. But combine amazing pizza with friendly, caring service and a killer ambiance, and Paulie Gee’s has a leg up on a lot of the other heavy hitters. The wait can be crazy, but we came in on a Tuesday night and it was half empty. I guess the key is to come when there’s post-blizzard sludge everywhere and no one else wants to go out. Paulie Gee was there as I’m told he usually is, weaving around the space with his cup of coffee and stopping at literally every table. For us, he offered to curate our pizza order and who were we to argue? Read on for what Paulie Gee himself recommends: — The Greenpointer: according to Paulie, basically like eating a salad due to the piles of fresh baby arugula on top. — The Mo Cheeks: My personal favorite of the meal. The pickled onions on there are a nice surprise, and give a nice kick to the rest of the ingredients. — The Monte Cristo: OK, so this is probably something I would never think to order myself, but I’m glad it came out for us because it’s actually super tasty. It comes with Canadian bacon and a drizzle of maple syrup, which I know sounds weird but trust me(or rather, trust Paulie). — I didn’t catch the name of the last pizza, but it was one of the best and after peeking at the menu again I think it might have been the Hellboy. It was piled high with the tastiest Berkshire Sopressata, and it was perfect with the side of Mike’s hot honey(which you haven’t tried on pizza you must immediately). They asked if we wanted a dessert pizza but at that point we were stuffed to the gills. It was one of the best New York pizza experiences I’ve had so far, and the service is what really puts them above and beyond. I’m going to run for vice-president of the Paulie Gee fanclub soon!

Delicious pizza, rich ingredients. Came away feeling very full and a little sick because I could not stop eating. Definitely try the local milk and honey ale! It was like a dessert in a glass.

After a 2-hours wait on a weekend for a party of 2, we finally got a table at the renowned pizza shop in Brooklyn. After having one of the best pizzas of all time at Little Isabella located in Baltimore, I was on the mission to find its companion in NYC. Overhyped as we suspected, Paulie Gee had nothing on Little Isabella! Perhaps, it was the quirky blend of sweet and savory flavors, but with that 2-hour wait, we surely did not have a pleasing experience. We ordered two pies: HellBoy and Greenpointer. HellBoy: Fresh Mozzarella, Italian Tomatoes, Berkshire Sopressata Piccante, Parmigiano Reggiano and Mike’s HOT Honey Greenpointer: Fresh Mozzarella, Baby Arugula, Olive Oil, Fresh Lemon Juice and Shaved Parmigiano Reggiano We didn’t really enjoy the sweetness of the honey in the HellBoy or the sourness of the lemon juice in the Greenpointer. Fresh, as we saw them make each pie to order, I definitely thought the doughiness of the pizza wasn’t anything spectacular. In terms of service, I think it was pretty solid. Our waiter was patient and helpful. As a surprise, Paulie Gee himself introduced himself to just about every table, making it feel quite personable. In all, I definitely wouldn’t return back to this pizzeria, especially with that crazy wait. During that 2-hour wait and 1.5-hour dining time, I can drive down to Baltimore and get some Little Isabella for half the price and no wait!

Five of us ordered four pies, and they all tasted great. The Hell Boy stood out, because adding hot honey made a world of difference. I cannot describe it, so you need to order it and describe it for others. Go, save others!

I’ll admit I was a little skeptical as my friend led me through what appeared to be middle-of-nowhere-Brooklyn by the river on the promise of excellent pizza. I was at the point of wondering what I had done to wrong him so much so that I would now be swimming with the fishes when we finally arrived at Paulie Gee’s unassuming entrance. We did have to wait about 20 minutes since they’re apparently pretty strict about their 6pm opening. Once I was able to get my bearings and realize I wasn’t about to face my untimely death at the hands of my closest friend, we dug into four different pies: the Ricky Ricotta, the Hellified Porkpie White, the Hellboy and the Brian DeBrisket. It’s difficult to pick a favorite since they were all excellent options but I might have to go with the Ricky Ricotta. Service was quick, even after the restaurant filled up soon after opening. We were in and out in about thirty-five minutes.

I love Paulie Gees. I have lived in Brooklyn for 5 years, and it upsets me that I only had it for the first time a year and a half ago. The pizza is consistently delicious. Atmosphere is also perfect for a date or a large group of friends. The one thing that I noticed changed are the vegan desserts. It seems they switched bakeries and oh my god the chocolate cake was insane. I could weep. You must try, vegan or not. I may even go tonight after dinner remembering how good it is. Oh and great beer selection!

Do not come here looking for traditional New York pizza goodness. You will be thoroughly disappointed! Instead, come here for unique flavors if you are the hipster foodie. The ambiance and décor will make you happy and also make you feel like you are drunk(is it the lack of lighting? Flickering of candles on every table?). Albeit creative flavors, it tasted like flatbread pizza. Make it crispy at least! The thin crust was super reminiscent of the chipotle-style, customize-your-own pizza places, except at twice the price. I ordered the In Ricotta Da Vegan, and it wasn’t that great. Definitely not worth the $ 18 for sauce, funky tasting dollops of cashew cheese & sausage, and arugula on flatbread. Insanely tasty and yummy vegan pizza is super easy to make at home. I wanted something special and delicious but didn’t find that here.

3.5 stars for this pizza joint hidden behind a HUGE wooden door all the way down Franklin street Crust was good with a nice char on the hellboy but the crust of the greenpoint pizza seemed a bit underdone We were quoted a 1.5 hour wait at 8pm for 3 on a Saturday but we were lucky that people in front of us hadn’t returned so we were seated right away!(so don’t be discouraged) —hellboy: everything was good about this except that spicy honey! Should of gone with a more classic margherita style pizza instead —greenpoint: fresh arugula, with a bit too much lemon juice, so nothing special NOTE: they don’t have pepper flakes, only chili oil

One of the best pizza’s in town. They use a original brick oven which you can see in the back to cook up all there pizzas. The menu has a list of great creative pizzas with wonderful toppings. We went for the sausage, ricotta, arugula pizza and the flavors came out great. Pizza was soft and crispy with the ricotta standing out. We also had a pineapple speck pizza. This fell a little flat as the speck wasn’t as fatty or melted as much on the pizza. It also came out a bit tough. The pineapple stood out well but the sauce was too sparing. Pizza dough though was the standout. Also had some great beer there as the greenpoint milk and honey was refreshing. The place is kind of hidden as you won’t see signage but large almost like barn doors into the restaurant. Service was a bit lacking as once they opened it was a bum rush to the door with no orderly entrance for who was waiting outside first. Also once inside it took quite a long time for our orders to be taken and we were skipped given utensils or plates. I would of given 3 stars because of the service but the wonderful pizza really makes this place stand out.

Outstanding pizza; one of the best pies I’ve ever had. Not sure if one would be enough or not, we started with the Hellified Porkpie White. Loved the hot honey with the white pie and pepperoni; it gave it a nice spicy flavor contrasted with the sweet honey. Boyfriend wanted another so we ordered the Porkypineapple. I wasn’t a fan — the sauce was very acidic and very sparse on the mozzarella. More cheese and it could’ve been better. The crust on both pizzas though had a nice chewy texture with the taste from the wood fired oven. Primo. Paulie came by our table and mentioned he was looking to open another location, maybe in Berkley, CA. If you build it, they will come.

Came here 3 months ago in August but still find myself thinking about how good it was! Such creative pizzas! We had the Hellboy(hot honey on pizza WORKS!) and the Greenpointer which was an excellent combinations of one tomato-based /spicy /savory pizza with a lighter /vegetarian /a little bit tart white pizza. We had the flourless chocolate cake for dessert which was not memorable. Come early. There will probably still be a wait so take a quick walk down the block to the waterfront and check out the small park and views of Manhattan.

Zagat rated the hellboy as the best pizza in NYC. Wow! Big call Zagat… We had to try! We would say it was delicious… But I would have to say Marta is equal of not just ahead. We got here at 6:40 and had to wait over an hr to sit at the bar. When getting here service was prompt and food was great! We ordered the hellboy and the hellified porkpie white and I have to say it was fresh, full of flavor and great value. My only critique would be more hot suppressa on the hellified and take numbers at the door! It’s a little unreasonable to ask people to wait 90 mins and not offer to call when table it ready. Either way it was great but probably won’t be crossing the river to wait another 90 mins.

Tip: Come here at 4:50 pm on the weekend to avoid waiting in line. If the G train breaks down and you get here at 5:30, there are a couple of bars nearby to pass the time. But, really, do try to come at 4:50. There’s nothing quite like the waitress bringing out the first pie of the night, announcing it with a flourish, and hearing the attendant murmurs and sighs. I still don’t know much about Brooklyn, except that the place serves consistently superior pizza(keeping in mind, my sample pool is still relatively small but rapidly growing, as is my waistline). I basically memorized Paulie Gee’s menu before we went, and because we couldn’t very well eat the entire menu, we went with the two most intriguing pizzas — the Hellboy and the Ricotta Be Kiddin’ Me. I enjoyed the Hellboy more. Something about spicy honey on top of sopressata made downing three(or four) slices seem like the most natural thing in the world. The Ricotta pie was more subdued, though I did appreciate the fat lumps of ricotta on each slice. There’s a reason why Paulie Gee’s banned take-out: unless you eat it hot and piping, the dough becomes overly soaked in juice from the toppings, and you’re eating a wet, formerly pizza-shaped pile of meat and cheese. The pizzas are a little bigger than personal-sized, so 1 pie for each person is totally reasonable. What’s even more reasonable is getting 1 pie and a salad, or 1 pie and a dessert. One thing in particular warmed my heart about the service: a man’s coat was slowly falling off the seat back, and a server inconspicuously straightened it so it wouldn’t get dirty or trod upon. NEXTTIME: the hometown brisket, any of the other pies that incorporate Mike’s hot honey, the hot honey sundae.

Maybe we came on an off night, but we didn’t care too much about the pizza and it was definitely not the best we’ve had. My friend wanted to celebrate her belated birthday at Paulie Gee’s and so we did. We ordered 3 pies(Greenpointer, Ricotta Be Kidding Me, and The Hometown Brisket). I think the Hometown Brisket was our favorite only because of the BBQ sauce. Other than that, there wasn’t much brisket pieces on the pizza. Ricotta Be Kidding Me was okay. The Greenpointer was all greens so that balanced our meal a little bit. I hear people waiting for hours to get a seat here and right now I’m just wondering where all the hype went? We came when they were opening, so thank goodness we didn’t wait on line for this… cause it wouldn’t have been worth it. FYI: There’s no sign outside that says«Paulie Gee’s». You just have to look by the address number«60» in order to find this place. I actually walked passed it while we were trying to find it. Also, use your flash on your phones to read the menu. I really liked the rustic interior but it was literally pitch black in there.

No wait for two people on a Thursday night(~7pm), which was nice. Got the Hellified Porky White with a friend(the pies aren’t large at all, and I’d recommend getting a pie each if you’re decently hungry — but I just don’t eat much) before attending an event nearby. I’ve been excited to try Paulie Gee’s, as it’s one of the less accessible, but well known pizza joints in NYC. However, when it came(and very quickly it came), it was mediocre. I don’t love Roberta’s, but I think they do a better pizza in every aspect than Paulie Gee’s. The Hot Honey does have a nice kick to it, but is too gooey for my taste — I like the Bee Sting at Roberta’s, which is very similar, more. The location is interesting — it’s in a dim-lit hipster barn. I’d just tell you to try other Brooklyn pizza places(Di Fara and Lucali remain my favorite).

I almost feel like it’s blasphemy for not giving 5 stars. Finally made my way over here at Paulie Gees after way too long. Clearly this place is GPs staple so was excited to drop by on Wednesday night. There was no wait– very good. I had been worried about this so called 3x around 6:45pm to see how long it was before heading over. No one picked up and their answering service basically hangs up on you. I ordered the Daniela and he ordered the brisket pizza. Mine came out a good 7 minutes before his. I noticed immediately that about 40% of the crust was charred to the point of being inedible. To top that off, the spinach topping my pizza was the same. It was literally a black piece of ash and when I picked a leaf up or crumbled in my hands. The cheese blend was very good(mozzarella and Parmesan) but the pizza was just not good. To top it off, parts of the center were soggy and didn’t hold the toppings when I grabbed a slice. When the brisket pizza came out a few minutes later I noticed immediately that it was cooked perfectly. The crust was edible and delicious. I was bummed that mine didn’t come out this way especially since it seemed like a classic. All I can say is they probably put our orders in together and maybe his needed a little longer in the oven. Mine was most likely getting over cooked while his needed a few more minutes. Hence the gap in time between both of our orders coming out and the reason why mine was half done by the time his came out. I was really disappointed but the good thing to know is at least the brisket pizza was cooked well. I know there is a good meal at Paulie Gees but I feel like we were jipped. Also, great touch that Paulie himself came in to greet all the diners. He was super friendly and it brings a family quality to the place. This is maybe one of the main reasons I’d come back.

We had tried to get a table at Paulie Gee’s before, but we weren’t willing to wait two hours, so we thought we’d give it a try on Monday night. The wait was only forty five minutes, so we put our name on the list and headed a couple of doors down to grab some beers. We headed back and checked in with the hostess, and within a few minutes, they were able to seat us. We ordered a couple of beers – I had the Greenpoint Brewing Milk and Honey, which I loved. We started our meal off with the Gates of Eden salad, which comes with greens, Gorgonzola, candied pecans, red onions, dried cranberries, and pears. If you have been to Piece Pizza in Chicago, it is almost the exact same salad minus cucumbers. We loved this salad! For pizza, we ordered the Hellified Porkpie White. It was really good, but I think I like pizza with red sauce better. I have had a Hellboy pizza before, and I’m a huge fan of the addition of hot honey to pizza. For all of you vegans out there, they have a pretty large selection of vegan pizzas. The desserts all looked awesome too, but we skipped it on our visit. Also to note, they no longer do takeout; my guess is that it probably compromises the quality of the pizza.
