It appears that they have closed down. Paper over the Windows & padlock on the gate at 5:30 on Saturday night.

We went to grab some lunch. I ordered the elm burger. Best burger! The food came out quickly and hot. Love the fresh cut french fries. Our waitress was very courteous friendly and offer for the right amount of service. I put this on my list of must again.

I’ve eaten here several times and have yet to be disappointed with the food. The wait service is spotty but not bad enough to give the restaurant a bad review overall. I can recommend it for those who are not in a hurry.

The food was good and while our server was nice, the service in general was not very good. There were probably 6 – 7 tables seated when we arrived and at lease 5 – 6 employees in the restaurant; plenty for the volume of business. Everything took a while longer than it should. Several employees kept going outside to see what was going on at the Greensboro Pride festival and while their interest was admirable and understandable, this may have contributed. Our server seemed«new» and I can grant grace in that regard, but our fried pickles(an appetizer) did not come to the table until I’d taken the last bite of my burger and fries(all the food was excellent). We were offered refills on our beverages, but it took a long time for that to happen and to compensate, she offered«to go» ice waters, but never delivered and we cashed out at the register because we needed to get home. I wrote in a modest tip, considering the service, of about 13%. I did not want to «stiff» the server, but the service wasn’t good. As a former server, I’d never tip less than this unless my experience simply warranted leaving a place(which I would do instead). Here’s the problem: when reviewing my bank statement, I learned that the charge was actually processed for $ 2.59 more than I wrote in on the payment slip. I’ve disputed it and feel confident that it will be taken care of, but this situation is indicative of a problem; either ethics or carelessness. If they step up service and be more careful with the money, it will be a great place. Until then, I can’t recommend it.

I love Fincastles! It’s always been great, and I must say the revamp is impressive. I love the wall colors & design, not to mention the mural. The new tables and bar stools really modify and spruce the place up. The food — -yum! I’ve had the Carolina & Elm burgers. You can’t go wrong. I highly recommend the fried pickles. Pure glory. Another reason why I enjoy this place so much is the music that’s played. Nothing but classics! Today, the music only added to my inspiration of wanting to fulfill my goal of becoming a bar owner in «paradise.» The feeling I had while patronizing Fincastles is the same feeling I want my future customers to have – satisfaction. I know, I got deep. Really though – good food, good drinks, good tunes – it works for itself.

Great lunch spot Happens to be halfway between my folks in Hendersonville & Richmond(all of Greensboro is I suppose) I had a great burger w/pimento cheese and pickles Frannie had yummy chicken strips — flash fried Good fries My folks split a deli sandwich with two thumbs up Juke box you can control from your smartphone Prompt, attentive service, fair prices, friendly staff, clean, etc, basic, good, you won’t be disappointed We went there a few years ago, and it was still as good as I remembered it

I love the atmosphere and concept of Fincastles and the food is excellent and reasonably priced. Fincastles is one of my go to lunch joints in downtown because the staff is friendly and it is close to the office. They have limited outdoor seating and at times limited seating inside do to the lunchtime crowds.

Fincastles does a lot of dishes well, but every dish that they make, I can find a better version of it at another resturant in greensboro. That with with an exception of their castle chili, which is very good. Their burgers are good and so are their po boys, fried green tomatoes and fried pickles, but there are still resturants that do all of those dishes better than fincastles. Fincastles is great if you want a good variety of foods to choose from.

This place has one of the best hamburgers I have ever had anywhere! The meat was fresh, the Kaiser roll bun was really fresh and soft and the rosemary garlic fries were fresh cut, hot and yummy. This place would be a regular stop if you worked in downtown Greensboro. I recommend this place, they are craftspeople!

I love the idea behind this place. The inside was very bright and colorful. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The menu consisted of typical diner type foods but with a twist. Our server was nice enough, for sure, but her attire was not appropriate for a place of business. She was wearing a very ill-fitting tank top sort of shirt that displayed too much of her body. It was off-putting and unprofessional. There were two tables around us that mentioned it as well. There were only three of us in the group. About 15 minutes after we arrived another group came with 4 folks. They received their 4 burgers about 20 minutes before us. We ordered two burgers and a pulled pork sandwich. We waited for nearly 35 minutes before we got our food. There were only 4 patrons in the establishment at the time so I’m not sure why our food took so long. I ordered the sandwich with bacon, pulled pork, and sausage. It was okay. The flavor was nice but the pork of each component was dry. Truthfully, the wait and lack of professionalism was a huge let down to the point of translating to the food.

Definitely worth checking out again! The reinvention of Fincastles since May 2015 is amazing. I LOVE the retro 50s theme! The Great Pretender and Truffle Fries are my favorite!!!

This was my first visit to Fincastles since they changed their menu/management. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly/attentive. I was especially impressed with their side salad. It had a variety of lettuce, freshly shaved cheese, and cucumbers the salad dressing tasted homemade. Best part is I got 10% off by checking in on Unilocal

Fincastles left me searching for a little bit more. The service was good and the food was decent. The burger was okay… I’ve had both better and worse from comparable diners. The bacon cheese fries were very impressive. I don’t know exactly what kind of cheese that was used… but it was some sort of liquid gold that didn’t taste fake or processed. They were very generous with the bacon. I felt that the fries were the star of the show and the burger was an accompaniment. I would have probably rated four stars but sadly I found what looked like a beard hair nearing the bottom of my fries. I lost what was left of my appetite after that. With that being said, I would still be willing to give Fincastles another shot… things like that happen from time to time unfortunately. And I totally love beards… just not in my meal.

The wife and I were in Greensboro and wanted to try a new place, so we opted on here. The restaurant is located in downtown and has no parking dedicated to the business. The inside is decorated like a diner with the bar and stools to the right and tables on the left. I opted for a build your own burger, as I hear this place has a good burger, sadly I felt abit let down. The burger was cooked to order, but the quality of the beef is lacking by comparison to other places I’ve gotten an awesome burger at. Also the pickles were the sweet pickles and I didn’t realize that when ordering, so that threw off the taste some what. I will say my favorite part of the meal was the fries. They are straight thin cut fries with the right among of salt. I added cheese and bacon and was surprised at the size of the chunks of bacon. The cheese was melted and perfect. Our waiter was polite and attentive for the most part. My biggest gripe is the cost vs what you get. I can get the same meal at other places for the same price or less, but better quality. I may go back in the future but I’m in no rush to do so.

We wanted to try this place now that the ownership has changed(in September) — the new owner also operates the very successful, Smith Street Diner, a good sign, I think. The service was excellent, something that had been missing on our previous visits, and was the reason we’d not been back. It seems that most of the menu remains in tact, featuring burgers(specialty and build your own), sandwiches(Grilled Cheese, several BLTs, Fish, Chicken, and of course, Buttered Steak!), a few salads, a few Cajun entrees(Seafood Gumbo, etc) as daily specials, and Fries and Hot Chips. The burgers here have always been nice, and remain so. We ordered the Finn($ 6), Fries($ 2), a Hot Dog($ 2 as a daily special, normally $ 2.75), a BBQ Pork Sandwich($ 5), and Hot Chips($ 2). Sodas came in at $ 2.25, on the high side. The Finn has Finn Sauce, which is a knock off of Boar & Castle Sauce(and it is also on the Buttered Steak Sandwich), and generally this is a really good burger, though the beef atty is not the largest you’ll encounter, especially at that price. The roll is a brioche(not a personal favorite for burgers), so much of the burger is bread, but the taste is there. The sauce makes this a somewhat messy burger, but it is worth it. The Hot Dog(they use Nathan’s All Beef wieners) is good, not great. The chili is a little bland, and the roll is big, making the dog very bready. The BBQ Pork was simply awful — it was composed of diced pork(not chopped or pulled) and it tasted odd, much less than fresh. The side of slaw was not one I cared for, coarse chopped cabbage with onion. The combination of the pork and the slaw was doubly awful. The Fries are just excellent — thin(almost shoe string), well cooked, and well seasoned. The Hot Chips were very good, but did not come with Ranch Dressing, rather odd. This was a better overall experience than we’d had previously, and the Burger, Fries, and Chips were nice, while the other items were either average or awful. The prices are not outrageous but a burger, fries, and a soda will cost you $ 10.25. We’ll probably come back once in a while, but not on a regular basis. They are now open for breakfast, which is interesting, might be some Smith Street Diner type items on that menu.

I’ve been living here almost four years and haven’t been, mostly because I wasn’t sure what to think of a singing waiter. I mean, I like to eat my food in peace! Having some guy sing over my food seemed more than a little annoying. We saw the food on NC Weekend though, and realized we could wait no longer. I had a coupon for the butter steak(holy cow, delicious) and we split a regular fry. I also had one of the $ 1 Rolling Rock’s. Thankfully, the singing waiter was out that day or something. I plan on going back and trying the fried green tomatoes, as well as having one of the burgers, but we’ll definitely have this place on the agenda in the future.

A favorite of mine since the Morphis brothers open it. Displayed their Cajun talents well. In today 15 August, no Cajun, only person who had not been served. Ordered Carolina Dog, onion rings, iced tea. Waiter took his seat back atThe bar. Twenty minutes later I receive a sloppy burger, and onion rings. Observed waitress and one cook playing games as I waited. Burger was sloppy and certainly not the hotdog that I ordered. Onion rings were good but certainly not worth the nine bucks they cost me. Service is not only bad it is nonexistent. Sad, I truly enjoyed the original Fincastles. Just saw that Fincastles was sold. Good luck to the new owner. You need new cooks, new wait staff and a new attitude.
