This place is ok. It is however more akin to Greek fast food than a real Mediterranean restaurant. I came here a couple of times during a busy lunchtime and at first, found the service to be a little odd with its cafeteria/diner type system, but it works. The first thing I ordered was a greek salad. I may have just ordered lettuce, because the salad was lacking toppings. Hardly any feta cheese and veggies were on it. I also ordered a vegetarian platter on another visit. Everything on it tasted like it was packaged and was not fresh at all. Finally, I ordered a side of Spanokipita, which was too greasy and bland. Overall, it is basically what you would expect from a restaurant such as this. It definitely has a greasy spoon like feel which I suspect would attract many college students, so it is well placed. I on the other hand, probably will skip it unless there was no other option.

In my opinion this is the best Mediterranean food in Greensboro. Everything is super fresh and they have tons of options. Their falafel wrap is my favorite! I especially love this place because they are awesome enough to label all of their vegan options on the menu. Vegan onion rings ftw

College friend suggested this. Quick service, clean store, good food. I had the gyro, my husband had the Mediterranean Platter. He said all was excellent.

Seriously so damn good. Every time. I have yet to leave here anything but ecstatic and stuffed. Everything is very well priced too! I personally love the falafel, but I’ve heard great things about a lot of the menu, including the burgers

I’ve eaten here about 4 times now. The food is consistently good and ingredients fresh. The average price of a platter/combo is $ 8. They have a kids’ menu with prices averaging $ 5. I love the gyros(beef and lamb mix). The kabobs are also excellent — never dry, which is typical of kabobs, and the spices are spot on. The ambiance is nothing to be desired, but that’s not what you go there for.

I’m in Greensboro for business and had a hankering for gyros. Jack’s is a nice little place with a small parking lot, but it wasn’t too busy when I went there around 2PM. My gyro was good, and the fries had a tasty seasoning on them. I would definitely recommend Jack’s.

Consistently one of my favorite eats in Greensboro. I make an effort to stop by every time I’m in town. Their Gyros are fantastic, their service is very quick and friendly, and they offer a student discount which is always a plus.(you don’t have to be a uncg student-any student id works!)

Good but not great. Counter service and not the most atmosphere but if you are looking for something good to eat in a hurry this is your place.

I’m not sure who they paid to write these rave reviews for this place, but it is not worth it. The«marinated chicken chunks» are tiny strips of chicken sliced so thinly they look almost like potato chips(just with less flavor). A bag shredded of lettuce is piled on to make the gyro look full. Huge disappointment

Thanks Unilocalers! I was still on a mad hunt to find some good Mediterranean food and followed your suggestions to Jacks. I had the Mujaddara plate and it was yummy! If they ask you if you want cucumber sauce with it, I say get it for some additional flavor, but it’s not necessary! The portions are pretty large as I couldn’t eat it all. so I’ll save the rest for dinner! I ordered pick up and the food was ready when I arrived. I will say that parking is a bit of a challenge though. I’ll definitely be back to try their falafel!

There’s no doubt that the location is convenient, the food is consistent, and the service is quick, but for me, Jack’s falls a little short on value. A gyro platter with double salad(instead of fries and salad) is what I typically get. For $ 9, I would expect a really great gyro with a lot of meat, especially considering salad is a cheap side. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good, but $ 9 doesn’t even get you feta on the gyro — that’s 95 cents extra. If they dropped the price just a bit, or added some extras in the portions, I’d probably visit more frequently, rather than just out of convenience in a pinch.

First came here in 2005, and it was great. 10 years later, and I’ve watched the steady decline. Falafel wrap is my standard fare, and I won’t buy it anymore. Period. Used to be full and delicious. And it just gets smaller and smaller. Maybe 3 years ago, I started countering that by ordering extra balls of falafel @ 70 some cents a piece… This trick worked for a while, filled it right back up… That is until they started skimping on your stock sandwich falafel because you ordered extra. IE if the sandwich comes with 3, and you order 2 extra, they only put four total. I fixed that problem by asking for the extra falafel on the side, that way they couldn’t give me a sandwich with falafels taken off the top. Then I stopped myself… WTF am I doing? Paying them $ 1.50 extra, on an already expensive sandwich, and I have to give them special instructions to make sure they don’t rob me? You shouldn’t have to do that. I hate feeling foolish. Never again.

Gyro platter with lentil soup today. Whenever I eat here I don’t feel too guilty. The food is never to the table slow or cold, the menu has lots of options, and the solarium seating lets the sun in on a cold day My gyro could always use more meat(dunno if it’s just me being greedy or not) and I always forget to omit the lettuce and add more onion. Nonetheless, the meat is tasty and the bread warm and chewy. The fries are just fries. I am sad to say that I did not enjoy the soup. It was too diluted and tasteless. I know they can do better so I will try again at some point.

A tasty little eatery tucked away in a corner of the college district, frequented mainly by students and locals both for affordability and surprisingly authentic deliciousness. The seating is unpretentious in the extreme — think fast food dining room or college cafeteria — but the folks back in the kitchen know their stuff, and they keep it coming hot and fresh and yummy. Their baba ganoush and hummus are the best in the area, and their hot, thick, floury pitas are the perfect foil for their seasoned ground beef and lamb sandwiches.

On the corner deli is exactly right. Very casual place to eat right by UNCG. I Ordered the chicken kabob platter. It came with hummus, a huge, round slice of pita bread and salad. Really good! The cucumber dressing comes on the side and is another great dip for your bread. Mm. Mmm. I also love all the family pictures on the wall!

I liked this place. The cafeteria style ordering was a little strange but hey whatever works. The place was a little cramped and clean… ish. The food came out quickly and was nice and hot. The French fires were awesome. They were nice and crispy and seasoned well. The Gyro was great too. The pita was a little tougher than I like but the flavor was nice. The steak was nicely cooked and wasn’t tough at all. The cucumber sauce was so lite and refreshing that made the perfect compliment to the steak. The Spanakopita was not good. It was bland and tasted old. The layers just under the top crust were undercooked and a bit doughy. Not a fan of that. I’ll be back.

When I’ve had less than a stellar experience at a restaurant, especially a locally own one that others seem to like, I’ll try again, hoping for a better result — yeah, I know, insanity. Tonight it was this little place near the UNCG campus — you gotta try, things may change — or not! Baba Ghanouj Plate($ 3.99) with pita — simply not a version I care for — chunky, oily, and with an under taste I don’t like. No reorder! Chicken Kabob Platter($ 7.99) — 2 skewers with Greek Salad, Pita, Hommus, and Cucumber Sauce(tzatziki, I guess) — chicken was a little dry, chewy(more like sinewy — to many chews to the bite); the Greek salad was almost totally devoid of feta cheese, which makes the salad Greek; the pita was nice, if a little thick; and the sauce was rather drab. No reorder! Dawali Sampler($ 8.79) — Garpe Leaves, Taboulih, Falafel, Spanokipita, Sauce & Pita. The Grape Leaves were mushy and greasey; the Taboulih was flavorful, but very dry; the Falafel was like a dog bone with a mushy center; and the Spanokipita was dry, dry, dry. No reorder! Mujaddara Plate($ 6.99) — Lentils & Rice, topped with tomato, cucumber, onions, and mint salad — simply an excellent, refreshing dish! I would reorder in a heart beat. Vegetarian Platter(&.59) — Falafel, Hommus, Spanokipita, Greek Salad, Tahini, & pita — covered most of these above — tahini was ok, the rest stand as reviewed. The only think I’d reorder is the Mujaddara Plate — an excellent salad. Nothing else is close to what is offered at several other Mediterranean restaurants — and the portions are not great values here.
