So I just went to Steak n Shake and waited in the drive thru for 30 minutes, after getting my food I open it to check, and there’s cheese on it and I ordered it w/o cheese. So instead of waiting again I go in and ask if I can have my food remade or get my money back so they get the manager, after the cashier explains what happened, the manager proceeds to ask me with an attitude why I can’t eat it with the cheese? Excuse me? I told him that doesn’t matter I just would like it remade or a refund. He says he’s not going to remake it or give me my money back!!! Boy I felt my brown skin turn like 5 shades of red, I know my blood pressure went up, I told him you better give me money back now!!! He then comes and says you can stay here all night but I’m not doing either. He told one of the cooks he was going to fire them if they made the food for me so the cook told me to sue them. Then he calls the police on me. When the cops get there they’re like let me get this right, you don’t have the food and he won’t give you you’re money, this is horrible customer service. The cops made him give me my money and the same cook remade my food for me risking his job. I was so mad my blood was boiling

I am coming at you today with a review of another cheap and American eatery. I suggest coming here if you don’t mind sweaty crowds of filthy people and surfaces greasier than a pan of bacon. There is also nothing like washing down a big olé cheesy steak burger with a creamy milkshake. However the fries are so small and petite that some may say their size is below-average. The waiting staff did not mess anything up but some people working there honestly just disgusted me by their lack of hygiene and a good haircut. I would also like to note when checking out that the cashier was rude and must have not had much experience in relations with customers because he didn’t greet us goodbye or make any eye contact which was very upsetting. The restaurant was also very filthy for many reasons. When we where escorted to our table by the useless hostess she wiped it down in a split second missing most of the crumbs and left. When we sat down areas pertaining to my buttock were soaked by the moist seat causing much discomfort in the bum. But well, in the end we where served good food at a super cheap price in a sticky and uncomfortable environment by some really sketchy and tacky employees. P. S. Do not touch the ketchup bottle that thing is revoltingly gross as it is covered in grease and God knows what else.

Food was good but service was awful, ordered drinks first but didn’t receive them until after I was halfway through my meal

Well, at least they’re consistent from location to location — same very ordinary food, same slow service. We stopped by to get Alice a chocolate milkshake(and the one here is really pretty good), so I took a chance on a couple of items, and lost. The Original Double with Cheese with terrible — overcooked with a bitter after taste, and I ordered it with L, T, & M — but it came with MUSTARD instead of mayo. The Chicago Style Dog was decent, but just that. And the FFs were awful as well — under-cooked, & not salted at all, and when you don’t salt them as they come out of the fryer, no amount of salt will help because it will not adhere to the fry, and of course, that’s what you’re trying to salt. Will be back for the shake, & that’s it.

Great burgers, as usual with efficient service and wait time for our order to arrive. However, waiting to be seated is another story. The restaurant was very busy. The staff would look at all of the people waiting to be seated and just continue with their task. It was a few minutes before someone managed the situation. She was wearing a blue, instead of white, shirt. Does that mean she’s a manager? She was not at all pleasant.

Good food and service. Lots of options on the menu. Clean inside. Definitely not somewhere I would chose to eat typically over the other more refined restaurants Greensboro has to offer, but at 3 am after the bars close this place is definitely an excellent late night choice!

Forced to wait because a party of three was not allowed to sit at a table of six. We were offered the bar, a table for two with a third seat added(entirely too small), or to wait. Food was typical for Steak and Shake.

Driving through town stopped for a quick bite. Threw meal & drink away. Condiments were oozing out of the stale bun, fries were old & tea was over sweetened. Took forever & we got over charged. Go to Sheetz instead if you want a quick burger!

Food is great. The meat in the burgers is quite tasty. The fries are great. The shakes are thick, creamy and delicious.

Could I have waited any longer in the drive thru? That answer would be NO. No customers inside, just me at the drive thru… I can’t understand the 20min wait. My wait was rewarded by medium warm fries, an extremely burnt hot dog, and a 3.00HALFFILLED bowl of chili. This was my first visit to the chain. perhaps I’ll try them again one day. Just no time soon.

A disappointing Steak ‘n Shake. This is coming from a person who loves the chain and feels like they rarely do anything wrong. Well lately that has changed in my opinion. It has nothing to do with old, or new. I’ve seen it with both. So my very first stop when rolling into Greensboro prior to checking in my hotel was Steak ‘n Shake and I was starved to death. I immediately noticed when pulling in it was and older restaurant. I happen to park by the sign at the road and could see filthy dirty mildew and dirt at the base. The parking lot was clear to my recollection, it’s been a few weeks. Not a lot of cars in the lot at around 1:30PM on a weekday. I stepped in and was not greeted. I looked around to find a few guest at tables, but overall it was pretty dead. Many of the tables had trash and dirty dishes. I almost turned around and left, but decided to take up real estate at the bar. Upon looking around it seemed to me that they were short staffed. I waited for a long time before finally a nice waitress did come and got a drink order. But I stopped her to get my full order in fearing an even longer wait. I noticed several customers wanting to check out and no one was there. Finally someone would appear. I went to the restroom before my food arrived and it was evident that this place was not as maintained as it could be. The men’s restroom was okay and passable until I found no paper towels. I told a waitress while exiting and it appears they have been trying to get time to fill it up. I went back to my seat and waited for over 15 minutes just for my shake. Then another 10 – 15 min for food. Keep in mind they are pretty much dead, so no excuse. When the food did come out my waitress was again friendly, but no apologies on it taking so long. My cheeseburger, fries and strawberry shake were all tasty and I enjoyed. This SnS is poorly managed and I would not return to dine in if living in the area. If they cannot pull off a good service when they are slow I don’t want to see them with a crowd. I did go back on my way out of town and got a shake for the road, no issues. I heard the other location in town is superior.

I was addicted to this place! Went back twice in one day. Didn’t get to try the food but I ordered the chocolate banana shake the 1st round, and the 2nd round I ordered a chocolate and strawberry shake. I liked the chocolate and strawberry more than the chocolate banana. Although that one did have chunks of bananas. I also tried my cousins shake, the butterfingers, plain vanilla and also strawberry. All in all a great place I crave for. Awesome price also.

We stopped at a steak n shake on our trip back from north carolina, the wait was very long, once we got our food the burgers were thin and crunchy, junk, where were the steak burgers?

I just love me some Steak-n-Shake. Let me just say that its something that I grew up with. This location is pretty much on point with your general expectation of a fast food restaurant. The difference between others places is apparent here. Service is quick and friendly. Food is delivered hot, fresh, and ready. This time around I took them up on a Triple Steakburger with Cheese Combo and a Sweet Tea. The burger was steaming fresh as I enjoyed it down to the last bite. I even contemplated on whether or not I was going to eat that last fry. Long story short the plate is cleaned. Less work for the dish washer right? If you want to eat great and save more this is your place.

Holy cow. This place was packed at 2:30 on a Saturday afternoon. I was expecting a quiet late lunch but not so. We actually had to wait for a table. Service was so-so. I learned long ago that Steak-N-Shake’s shakes just aren’t my favorite. Really runny and some strange flavors seem to sneak in there. So I passed on the shake but did give the«Bleu Ribbon» burger a try. If you don’t know SnS, they use steak burgers that are pressed very thin. This one had smoked gouda, bacon, roasted red peppers, french fried onions, and a blue cheese-horseradish sauce. It was really really good. I loved the gouda and the sauce. The french fried onions made the whole thing pretty salty, but I was ok with that. The skinny fries are typically a let down for me. Service was ok. Kinda slow but I’ll blame the crowd on that.

The drive-thru service can be a little slow late at night, but they are one of the few that are 24 hours. I have eatten on the inside, and I do like the fact that they have a waitstaff. It takes the fast-food feel away from it. I like the regular steakburger(which by the way, tastes just like a regular hamburger pattie). The food is usually hot, the service is ok. I am not a fan of their tiny french fries, but they are cool at 4am !?
