We ate here last night for Father’s Day. We made reservations and just had to wait a short time after our reservation. It was very busy so I expected to wait a little bit. We ordered the spicy shrimp appetizer, which was delicious! It’s our favorite appetizer! My husband ordered the kangaroo with mashed potatoes(which is what he always gets), my 3 year old son wanted fish so we ordered him the rainbow trout with fries(he didn’t want chicken fingers, burger, or macaroni and cheese, which are on the kids menu) and I ordered the cedar plank salmon. My husband LOVED his kangaroo and my salmon was AMAZING as usual! It was not over cooked at all and the Chardonnay cream sauce is delicious! My son’s trout was on the dry side. We’ve never ordered that before so I’m not sure if it’s always like that. We will probably just try something else the next time. Our server Matthew was very nice and informative about the menu. We ordered the triple chocolate mousse pie and the carrot bread for dessert to take home! They were delicious! We will definitely be back!

Saskatoon is an atmospheric place that serves«wild» game dishes. We stopped yesterday for the first time and enjoyed ourselves very much. The atmosphere is one of a hunting lodge with big game heads on the wall. Our server, Carmen, was wonderful and the food was very good. Among the three of us, we tasted Elk, Emu, Kangaroo, and Buffalo. All had unusual, but pleasant tastes. The only downside was that the Buffalo was so tough we couldn’t chew it enough to get it eaten. But, Carmen was so gracious and swapped it out for the Emu — which was very tender. So, our experience was a good one. They said their steaks are the best around, so we may have to stop in again some time to check that out. I see that Saskatoon is rated $$ — I would rate it more as $$$.

Went for the first time this evening, service was great! Julio(spelling?) was amazing, very knowledgable about the menu and sold us some delicious specials. Definitely want to come back to taste more of the wild game items. Thanks for the great experience!

We really enjoyed our meal. Katie and Kate make a great team. They were informative, personable and guided us to a great meal. The gator tail was the best we’ve ever had — unbelievably tender. My salmon was great with an amazing sauce and my husband enjoyed the buffalo fillet. A good time

We are waiting to close on a new house and have been in an extended stay hotel for two weeks. We have eaten out at a different restaurant every night. Sakatoon is our favorite so far. Everything from the appetizers to the exotic game to the dessert and last but not least, the excellent waitstaff was top notch! We can’t wait to come back! Thanks for an amazing dining experience!

Well… we had high hopes based on the website but when we walked in we were not greeted for a while, staff walked past us without a hello. Then the bathrooms were old and not updated and not very clean(bad sign!) And when the hostess(possibly owner) told us we’d be seated in a while I did not want to sit on the disgusting chair or blanket covered couch. So nasty. Old and yukky. We nearly left but thought this was worth a menu check due to the wild meats we wanted to try and this was supposed to be like a hunting lodge… so we got the sausage appetizer and it was very good and got a second round. Then 45 min. Pass and I had to ask the hostess to get our server to get our salads out. Unreal! Tiny Ceasars came out. Then… another very, very long wait for our meals. We nearly left. I got the elk, my man got the bison. Both were tough and disappointing. Did I mention the plastic ancient diner table covers? Eh! No wonder all the other tables were getting chicken and fish. They must be regulars. Kangaroo was on the menu. Glad we didn’t try it. $ 115 later and we are wishing we stopped at the appetizers. Our server was nice, but it seems like she dropped the ball on service and let way too much time pass on the flow of the meal. It was not very busy tonight. Even the owner/hostess did not check on us after the salad issue and didn’t thank us for coming in. She knew it was our first visit and that we found this place through a web search for good steaks. No plans to return and I would not suggest a visit.

What an evening meal! My man friend and I went to Saskatoon for dinner. I had never been there before, he had been once — over 15 years ago. As soon as you walk in the door, you are greeted by a cozy«lodge» type atmosphere. It is a place you can be comfortable in very casual clothes or in very dressy clothes. The bar looks like a nice place to have some bourbon and talk with friends — but we opted for a table instead. We were seated in a small room off to the side and our team of servers was headed up by Katie.(BTW, Katie is awesome! Totally knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. We wanted to taste as many different things as possible, so we started out sharing the sausage appetizer(one each of boar, elk, and buffalo) served with a horseradish cream sauce and a honey mustard sauce. Each sausage was delicious in its own way. YUM squared(or since there were 3, cubed!) We also got to have warm, delicious bread with a trio of butter — standard butter, cinnamon butter, and blueberry butter.(YAASSSSSSSS!) I had been craving a good steak, so I ordered the 12oz ribeye. Dry aged. Beautifully cooked. Seasoned perfectly. It came with a salad — I chose the house salad with the house vinagrette. The dressing was fresh and light and not overpowering. My steak also came with fresh steamed vegetables and a choice of potatoes. The potatoes were divine… skin-on roasted garlic mashed potatoes. I ordered unsweet tea to go with my meal — but I decided to try a cocktail(there is a large selection of wine and beer, but I was feeling more like a cocktail last night). I asked Katie if there was a cocktail she could recommend — and she did. The«WooTini» is delicious and deceptively refreshing! It has several liquors and some fruity juices. Seriously — even if you don’t want to go for a meal, go sit at the bar, order an app, and get a WooTini. Or 3. Heh. My friend ordered the«Mixed Grill» which included Quail, Lamb chops, and Flat Iron steak.(Of course I tasted off his plate!) It was all amazing. I think his eyes rolled back in his head when he tasted the lamb. ;) Yes, it was that good. From my seated position, I could see servers going into and out of a bigger dining room off to my right. One of the gorgeous things I saw go by a few times was this bigger than life chocolate cake looking dessert. Yeah, I had to have some. My friend and I decided to share the piece of Chocolate Moose Pie. Holy decadence Batman! The«crust» is a delicious brownie. There were layers of chocolate moose *almost* frozen. A layer of white chocolate, a layer of chocolate with chips and a layer of milky chocolate. It was topped by a drizzle of chocolate syrup and some whipped cream. I thought I was going to explode(or go into a food coma) but I did survive the endeavor(with a big smile on my face). All in all — what a fun place to enjoy a great meal and maybe even try something new.

We have eaten there quite a few times. The food is ok when you want to venture a little from the norm. I find the restaurant messy & cluttered to say the least. I think they could stand to clean up their act a bit. I have edited my review, perhaps it was too harsh.

Went for the first time tonight. Food and service were great. I had the Kangaroo steak medium rare. This is such a lean piece of meat, I will probably try it rare next time. Excellent atmosphere and prices are very competitive with chain restaurants for regular steaks/salmon etc. The specials can get more pricey, but the portion sizes are large.

This place is amazing! The atmosphere is great and I felt welcomed right when I walked in. I had a beer, the sausages for my appetizer, and the wild plum bbq trout, which came out sizzling on an iron plate, with garlic mashed potatoes and a salad as my entrée. Everything was delicious! My server, Kate, was awesome and made the whole experience even better.

I went to this place many times and felt pretty good about it until the last time. The server was a super size woman and she looked very friendly. However, after I came back and accidentally found she charged me $ 5 more for the final price. This is really stupid and disappointed. Please check your credit card account after you go there. Those people will charge you more!!! p. s. The asian woman at the front is usually not quite friendly.

This was a hard review to write for, me due to I am torn(last sentence). We stopped in for an anniversary dinner by randomly picking from a list. We wanted a good steak, a new atmosphere, and something different; so we took the chance. Good: The people were friendly and the steak was delicious! I ordered the special blue cheese and bacon NY strip, with garlic mash. This NY strip was the most tender NY strip I have ever had. The steak was seasoned perfectly and cooked exactly to what I ordered. RECOMMENDATION: do not have them put the bacon and blue cheese on your steak. I feel it overpowered and ruined an awesome steak. Have them put that on your salad. The garlic mash was good and plating looked good. Bad: The script… The server had the same script and tone at every table. She spoke loud enough that we could hear her clearly across the room. Not very personal and did not make us feel like we were dining at a 20 – 30 dollar an entrée restaurant. The Caesar salad was super wet(normally food), but a strong sweetness that reminded me of eating miracle whip on my salad(do not recommend). We did not receive everything we had in our order, aka the dessert with our main course(even though we had a long and over the top conversation with our server). The service was mediocre, several times drinks were empty for longer than they should have been. We were overlooked several times as we sat with napkins on out plate at the finish of our meal. The people behind us got a lot more service then we did, maybe because we are a younger couple or not over dressed. The veggies with the steak were horrible. Corn was WAYOVERCOOKED and boiling in butter since yesterday. The place could use a face lift. This place probably was at one time an awesome atmosphere but it has been neglected. Window panes popping off windows, bathrooms that would remind you of a biker bar, cheap glasses, cheap table covers and dingy décor. A face lift could do miracles to this place. The perceived value for this place is low. Middle ground: The spinach dip was super cheesy but lacked flavor. The chips were generic chips you would get at a gas station nacho bar. Overall I was not impressed, but the steak was really good and really that was I was looking for.

It is not often I rate a restaurant with 5 stars, but this restaurant was exceptional. The staff was professional, knowledgeable and friendly. There selection of wild game was great and the food was perfectly cooked and tasted excellent. I would highly recommend.

I heard so many good things about the food and I wasn’t disappointed. Good place for special occasions. Service was good even though we had a party of 11. They start you off with bread and flavored butter. For appetizer I had the alligator bites. They were yummy especially with the dipping sauce it came with. I sampled some of the wild game sausages(elk, buffalo and boar) the boar was my favorite out of those. For entrée I ordered the kangaroo which came with a side of broccoli, corn, and roasted garlic mashed potatoes. I enjoyed every bite. The dining experience was good will be returning hopefully the ostrich is available.

The lodge feel was warm and inviting. Incredibly friendly and well-trained staff. Started with the bacon-wrapped scallop appetizer. Large portion and two sauces. Remoulade was nothing remarkable, but good. The buttery sauce was lovely and rich. Presentation looked like a smiley face. LOL Sweet bread loaf was served with trio of creamery butters(traditional, cinnamon, and blueberry). Bread was warm and airy. Ceasar salad was very cold, like perhaps it had been stored in fridge in the bowl. Would have preferred the house, I think. Ostrich steak was delish. Tender, excellent jus. Skin on mash was nice. Green beans very fresh. Carrots were cut large, would have been nice if slightly smaller cut. Corn was sweet and crisp. Veg did need a bit of salt and pepper. Bread pudding made with french baguettes and was smooth without being too rich. Whipped cream appeared to be from can. I would absolutely recommend it and would go back to try other game.

My Company’s Christmas Dinner I had: Bacon wrapped scallops. Buffalo, boar, and pheasant sausage Caesar salad Garlic mashed potatoes 8oz Ostrich Steak cooked medium The appetizers were the first highlight. I could eat those scallops all night, but I usually love scallops. The sausages offered an interesting contrast of flavors on the same plate. The Caesar salad was above average. The ostrich steak was perfectly cooked and literally one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. The food here is always perfect. The bottle service is properly done. Our waiter Edmond was brilliant. They offer craft beer! As the sign beside our table said: «There’s plenty of room for all God’s creatures– right next to the mashed potatoes!» If I had the wallet of Donald Trump and the appetite of Joey Chestnut, I would eat here every day.

I’ve had my adventurous ventures into the foray of exotic meats before, and wasn’t truly impressed with many of them. Naturally, it was clearly my fault for having flawed taste buds or having trusted inferior chefs for turning me off to meats outside of the normal conventions, and that I needed to go to Saskatoon the next time I was passing through South Carolina. Saskatoon is located a hair off of the main vein of US276 which is off of I-85, or it’s apparently easily accessible off of the I-385 bypass. Their parking lot isn’t tremendously large, but then again neither is the establishment either, so it’s safe to say that it’s a sufficient size for the business. Entering Saskatoon is like walking into a cabin, or like a ski lodge, which I gathered is pretty much the atmosphere and feeling that they’re going for. It’s warm and cozy feeling and needless to say, comforting to my personal preferences. Since we had to wait for others, we waited at the bar, which is small, but also cozy, with the bartender friendly and personable-y chatty. They had a pleasing variety of local and unique-to-me beers, as well as an I guess fairly decent selection of wine. Looking around at the bar itself, there’s a, and I sometimes feel that the phrase is so often overused, but rustic feeling about it, and I dig that the glasses they use don’t all match, and some have branding or logos of businesses in from the past. Regardless, once the full party arrived, we moved into the main dining area, where we were served by an evident veteran of the restaurant, who was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and had a magnetic charm that can only come with age. I’ve noticed other reviewers insinuate it as over-the-top, which is fine, but I absolutely enjoyed it. I would take a server who took their time and showed their personality over a cynical waiter doing the bare minimum to earn their tips. The menu is definitely favored for carnivores, but then again it would be reckless for anyone abhorred by flesh of animals to come to a place that has«steaks fish and wild game» in their name. «Standard» animals like beef, pork and chicken are available, but obviously, I came for something slightly off the beaten path. That being said, I went with the ostrich. And my company was right, I’d clearly had poorly prepared exotic meats in the past, because my ostrich was fantastic, as well as some of the other meats sampled from theirs as well as the sampler appetizer. Nothing was overly game-y, was tender, or made me second guess what I had just put into my mouth. It definitely prices as fine dining, but for something a little unique but still of good quality, I don’t have any qualms with paying. It’s not like I’ll have the opportunity to come back as often as I might want to, but it’s probably not a weekly excursion for those that are even local. Overall, I literally have nothing bad to say about Saskatoon. The location was easy to get to, the atmosphere was cozy and comfortable, the service at the bar as well as main dining was outstanding, and the product was fantastic. Saskatoon rescued my opinions of meats like kangaroo and ostrich, and I’d gladly look forward to when the next time my travels take me through Greenville so I could come back.

Sorry — I LOVE meat and this place truly knows the meaning of MEAT and certainly knows how to cook it. From Kangaroo — swordfish — bison — pheasant to lamb — it was all very good. The service was a bit slow due to too very large parties that got there before we did, but the place, price and knowledge of our server all brought this place up to my 5 star rating. There is always a large selection of choices, but leave the vegetarians at home!
