My husband and I came here for dinner date. I decided to try a new place for restaurant week. We absolutely loved this place. I don’t think that we can afford it on a weekly basis but def are going back. The service is top notch. The only downside is that the women’s restroom was messy, such a shame for such a beautiful restaurant.

The staff is very attentive. Very polite. Do not intrude. Allow you to eat and drink at your pace. I ordered the fall salad. I’m not a big fan of strong vinegar dressings. But if you are, the salad is good. I had the filet with green peppercorn. That was VERY good. The filet was tender and cooked perfectly. It came with au gratin potatoes — good, but not the best. The Brussels sprouts were good, if you like them. Cocktails quite good. I sat in the bar because I was staying at the hotel on business. It was louder than expected. I guess that’s what you get for having dinner in a bar with a singing piano player. If you want something more quiet, choose the restaurant. Dessert was a vision and delicious

A stone’s throw from busy Greenwich Avenue, drove up from NYC to see fall foliage and stopped here for brunch. On the water, with a terrace, but we ate in the lovely dining room. Tables are spread out, eclectic country chandeliers, stone floors, wood burning fireplace and depressed wood. Portions are huge. Ordered the lox omelet and it came runny as requested with a magnificent green salad in the side. An order of pommes frites was something we shouldn’t have ordered– but they were SO good.(Had I known the orders were so large, we would have skipped the fries.) Service was relaxing… And as I’m writing this the waiter just showed up with some mini pastries for dessert!

Was taken there for lunch as a treat by my friend. We wanted to have a window view so we were seated in the bar/lounge area-no problem. The waiter service was via the bartender, and was abysmal and quite inattentive, even after 2 complaints to the management. I had the salad that was with scottish salmon. The salmon was quite good. The salad part was passible, and the mustard vinaigrette was OK. $ 5.50 for a pot of earl gray tea and $ 5.50 more for a fresh pot. My friend has gone to the restaurant many times, and was quite embarrassed by the service, etc. Will not return.

My wife and I went there for our 7th Wedding Anniversary. What a wonderful night. The staff made us feel special. They could not have been more accommodating or responsive. The Prince of Morocco showed up with his entourage later. I doubt he got better service than we did. The ambiance was very inviting. Excellent lighting. A classy, cozy atmosphere. And being right on the water was nice. As for the food — delicious. The local roasted oysters were fantastic. The house salad was solid. And the pork belly hit the spot. My seafood linguini was terrific and my wife’s steak was alsovery good. Not the best steak ever, but still quite good, flavorful and cooked to order. The desserts were superb. We had the souflle and the banana split. This will now be a destination spot for us with friends and for special dinners.

Defenetly worth the try! Food is always fresh with a good and quick service. The wine list is really good with great selection of reds… Obviously if you are into whites there is some for you as well to chose from. Loved the outdoor dining with great view and Sunday lunch! Try it! You will go back…

My husband and I went for dinner last night and sat outside on the water. We ordered the tuna tartare, steak tartare, and fall salad. Everything was delicious. We also had some great rose’ wine. Will definitely go back if we are in Greenwich again.

Young woman at reception was unfriendly and unhelpful. Poor service from the outset isn’t worth staying for.

This is a great eatery and drinking establishment snuggled right up on the harbor with luxury yacht views moored right out on the shared pier. The service, food and presentation are excellent. I believe I had the best Crab Eggs Benedict in my life here, and the Bloody Mary’s were spot on. This is a serious consideration when in Greenwich.

The host was very rude. And the food was nothing special. I could only stand a rude staff if the food is extraordinary. And it wasn’t.

What a disappointment! They are just using the advantage of being near the water. The food tastes average. Don’t eat the lobster sandwich, awful. The french toast smells like egg. Last but least, the host at the entrance is the rudest person I’ve ever met in such a restaurant. It was Sunday brunch on Aug 30th.

I had such an amazing experience at L’escale last night! I’ve been there a few times to have drinks by the water and always had a great time. Drinks are a little pricey, but waterside bar at a nice hotel in Greenwich CT — that’s to be expected. Last night was my first time dining there, but definitely not my last. We arrived for our 8:00 reservation and were informed that they had seats available inside immediately or we could wait a few minutes for the terrace. We decided to wait since it was such a beautiful night(and I’m so glad we did. LOVE sitting on the harbor in summertime). We grabbed a drink at the bar — full bar with a variety of fun specialty cocktails — and were brought to our table in a few minutes. Bread and olive oil was placed on our table. The bread was fluffy and warm. Then we were given the wine list, which was quite extensive, and the one we chose was delicious. We had the Georgette Salad and the chef’s vegetarian appetizer for the night — boccaccini balls, which were both delicious. Neither my friend nor I eat seafood(which I believe is the specialty?), so we went with two of the pasta dishes, were both also amazing. Unfortunately, we were both so stuffed we couldn’t finish our pasta, I could barely finish my wine(something that never happens) and were unable to order dessert because the thought of more food made me want to pop open. The only thing I’ll change next time I visit is to save room for dessert!

After wanting to go ever since I laid eyes on this place two years ago, I finally got to try it tonight and I was not disappointed. My fiancé and I recently got engaged and decided to celebrate a little and splurge. Now first let me say, they have a bar area that looked like a fabulous time if you’re looking for a great location but don’t want to break the bank. We’ll definitely be back there before summer is over! We started out with the pigs in the blanket. They were spicey, which was a surprise to me, but my fiancé loved it! I had the 12 oz steak with fries, cooked medium rare. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten that much steak in my life but with the flavor I gobbled it up! For dessert we got the vanilla and chocolate soufflé. I could eat that soufflé all day it rocked my world. It wasn’t too sweet and filled with sugar how I feel most desserts these days are. You can tell they took their time with the food and take pride in what they do. I will absolutely come back again to check out that bar and for the next celebration.

L’Escale…L’Escale…quite an enigmatic place. Awesome bar, beautiful dining room, and the summer outdoor terrace makes you feel like you’re in France. Except on Thursday night when it makes you feel like you are in… Amsterdam. If you know what I mean. BUT — great food, beautifully presented. Service is mostly foreign but they do an excellent job. Really a very high end, well run, charming restaurant. Frankly it’s a bit like three restaurants in one because you have the bar and the tables there, the terrace, and the main dining room. I do like the main dining room for breakfast(a mightily expensive breakfast) but I certainly wouldn’t go there unless i was on business or going to a business meeting… expense account. Occasionally as area residents we’ll take the kids to an early dinner on the terrace and it’s just a lovely experience… if you like spending $ 250 on a simple dinner with your kids. So be warned. It is the nicest hotel in the highest per-capita income town in America, so what do you expect…

Beautiful setting. Mediocre food. As many other reviewers have pointed out, a nice view, a wonderful outdoor bar and elegant indoor bar with live music, but you might want to eat somewhere else in Greenwich. This is not the place for a great meal.

We had a great experience at L’Escale. We got a table outside close to the bar which was packed at 6 pm on Wednesday — well dressed middle aged and older scene. Lot of men in nice suits and shoes — got to envy anyone who can be having dinner at 6 pm during a work week. We had some fun cocktails and ate mostly seafood which was really really good, especially the seafood crudo. I thought the desserts were least impressive, though profiteroles were really good. As far as service goes, I thought they were great. My chair was pulled out when I went to the restroom, our water glasses were always filled and we had a very sweet waitress, a tall blond woman from Lithuania I believe. I recommend requesting her if the service has been an issue previously.

Adore this restaurant. The décor and space is beautiful and airy. I’ve been in the winter, spring and summer and it always is bright and beautiful. It has a French/shabby chic feel. Service is always great. I usually suggest fruites de mer(seafood) platter, oysters and smoked Scottish salmon for appetizers. For entrees I love the chicken paillard that is served with arugula, fennel, cucumber and cherry tomatoes. I usually come here for lunch with family and am always impressed. Great restaurant, atmosphere and service. Highly recommend it!

This is really in the 3.5 range. I am giving them 3 stars because this is really not a «As good as it gets» type of place, but a very nice place nonetheless. I visited L’Escale with my boyfriend and his family during brunch. The service was wonderful and the ambiance was dreamy. It seemed like a place you would host a wedding or event as the dining room was big and bright, and the décor was understated but very effective. What I am trying to say is that I felt good being there, looking over the water, and drinking my brunch bloody mary. So yes, the service was good and all of the servers are very attentive. However, the food was just average. From the bread, to my butternut squash soup, to my entrée(omelet), to my dessert, nothing wowed me to the point that they bump up to four stars. It was boring food in a beautiful space. What a shame.

Aside from creepy, leery old dudes flooding the bar area, L’Escale is wonderful. Wines by the glass utterly amazing. Drink concoctions fabulous. «How to Marry a Millionaire» — as long as it’s not one of the creepy leeries. Food is truly outstanding, creative, inventive and fresh. Harbor side dining A+. Makes you feel far away. Ambience — bar is super cool, almost a hip swanky Parisian vibe. Dining room itself formal. Really great place. You can’t go wrong here.
