Sandwiches are ginormous and the garlic French fries are so so sooo good! However, the lady who seated us who is young looking with black hair seems like she hates her job. She never smiles and always has a big frown on her face. At least or waitress was friendly and nice. Id recommend you give it a try. We had a groupon deal for $ 30 of food for $ 16 dollars. I’m glad I bought it because their sandwiches and fries are a bit more pricy than other places.

Was there on Saturday, it was my first time and Certainly NOT my last. It was outstanding, — the portion sizes are out of this world(ate for 2 days on my left overs :-)) the service was excellent, the prices excellent, can’t say enough good things about the place.

Foods good but they were rude to us. They treated us disrespectfully. They wouldn’t let us use our groupon and were rude about it. We called a couple times before when could we use the Groupon and were told Monday through Thursday. Came on a Monday, ordered a huge lunch, were told it was MLK day and can’t use the groupon and were stick with 45 bucks bill. Ouch. And treated rudely. We were the only people in there practically and I just don’t get how they could act this way. Don’t they know about Unilocal

I was enticed by a coupon to come into the restaurant. After I ate, I was told that they would not honor the coupon. I was told that I should have read the fine print. Apparently, they will not accept the coupon because the banks are closed. I have been talked down to by the staff and they have tried to embarrass me in front of the other patrons. I now have a coupon that I will never use. I was excited about coming here and I am disappointed with the way it turned out.

Kind of a weird spot, in an old residential house. I wasn’t a fan.

Still great oven roasted turkey dinners as well as yummy hungarian mushroom soup but was very disappointed with a chocolate coconut dessert that I ordered a few weeks ago. WAY to much coconut! My husband and I were going to share it and neither one of us could gag it down! What a shame because I always look forward to your delectable desserts. Please go lighter on the coconut next time around Truffle Hunter!

Yummy food Friendly people. Nice place. Started with zucchini. Hubby had biscuits and gravy. I had chicken Gorgonzola penne. Ended with pineapple millionaire pie.

The place is quaint and inviting. We were excited about having soup and sandwich after a cold hike. The service is nothing to brag about, we felt rushed and the server seemed very bothered with our questions about the menu, especially when I tried to explain that we have a child with allergies. The food however was amazing little pricy but delicious. Would have given it 5 stars if the service was better, and apparently we weren’t the only patriots there who thought the same.

Great mushroom soup. Seems like a busy lunch spot. Had a short wait of about 5 mins at 12:30pm. Could use some more organization at the host/cashier stand.

This place was a family favorite for a long time, but a combination of new employees and a change in the kitchen have dampened our experience recently. Last time we had dinner here my hot sandwich I ordered came out nearly cold. My mother ordered an open faced turkey sandwich that came out with mostly skin on it. Next time, when we arrived to eat for my sisters birthday dinner, a new hostess curtly told us there was no room for a 5 top and pointed at a business card, informing us that, «You can call ahead and make a reservation.» Okay… but we were already there and we could see at least two — three different tables our party could’ve been seated at. We called ahead this evening to see if we could make a reservation and was told the list of all the reservations they had tonight, therefore leaving no more room for an additional reservation… The girl was not helpful enough to suggest a later time or anything. Bottom line is, your reputation could be great but if the customer service is bad and food quality deteriorate, the clientele is going to dwindle.

We have had to leave several times from this place because we stand in the doorway for 30 minutes as the hostess walks by and doesn’t greet us. Every time I go there it’s only with one other person and there is terrible customer service. Good food but not worth the crappy service! We have even given them chances and keep coming back to be disappointed :(

I have come here twice for lunch. I suggest right at opening, 11am or the lunch crowd gets dense. Split a sandwich because they are as big as a plate, seriously they are huge! The Hungarian mushroom soup is amazing too. It’s expensive to think a sandwich and a side is $ 12+ dollars, but if you split the huge portions it evens out. They are a great dessert selection of pies and cheesecakes as well. Service is an issue though. The first time there it would 45 min to get our order, however the second time since we were the only ones there at opening it went much faster. I will return, but really only if I can make it at opening and I have a large time margin to work with.

Oh my! This was a GOOD place! The restaurant is in an older home. Nice décor. Great service and oh my gosh food! I think this would be a great«date night» dinner or lunch. Great selection on the menu food, wine and beer. You won’t be disappointed! Enjoy!!!

Good grief, this place is AMAZING! Love the homey décor. It’s neat that an old house was converted to a restaurant. The bread is insane. It’s so soft and huge loaves. The sandwiches are all good. And when you are paying 12 bucks for a sammie, it’s because it will also be your lunch tomorrow. The sandwiches fill the whole plate. Next the Hungarian mushroom soup. Great flavor. Great soup. I mean, how many ways can you say this place is the bomb? Snickers cake? Died and gone to heaven. Peach pie? Yes please. Mixed berry mimosa? Well, don’t mind if I do. Just eat here! You will NOT be disapointed!

It pains me to write this! I have been coming here for 20 plus years. When I lived near by I would come once or twice a month. Now that I live further it is about once a year. I saw they had a groupon and was excited to go and save some money! We made the 45 minute drive. It only took about 5 minutes to be seated and then we sat, and sat and sat. They had brought water for the three adults but not my toddler. After about 10 minutes they asked if we wanted drinks in which I asked for water for my toddler. We got the water and then waited another 10 – 15 minutes. During this time my mom leaned on the table and got her shirt soiled by coffee that was dripping on her from between the table leaves. I got up and asked if we could move since the table was leaking and the hostess seemed super bothered and said«yea I just wiped it, it is water». I said not unless your water is brown. So we moved. Sat at our new clean table for 20 plus minutes. Finally flagged down a server after multiple attempts and asked if we could order. She seemed bothered. Oh well. Placed our order and waited about another 30 – 40 minutes. Never once did they refill water or check on us. Other tables resorted to getting water pitchers off they serving station to help themselves. After about an hour and a half our food arrived. My mom ordered the pot roast. There were no veggies just half a plate of meat and three scoops of potatoes swimming in gravy. When asked where the veggies were she was told others never ate them so this is how they serve it now. AFTER our meals came we asked when we could get our soup. She just walked away and brought it back. No sorry, no Acknowledgement. The food was subpar. We all tried food off the dinner menu and everything was floating in gravy or fried. We took home ¾ of it hoping we could doctor it up. Honestly I was sad I did not get a sandwich. The sandwiches and mushroom soup are the best. Truffle hunter you make great sandwiches and bread. Looking at your other Unilocal reviews your lack of service seems to be a prevalent problem. This is an easy fix. Every time I asked for anything I had to find it myself, extra napkins, another table setting, water, to go boxes, an extra plate. If I ever chose to go back it will be for a sandwich and soup and will be to go so I don’t have to sit there and deal with the crap listed above. Used to be a great spot. Sad.

Sorry I would not come back here again solely based on service alone. I came in around 2:45pm and surprisingly there was still a decent lunch crowd here. 3 groups in the waiting area and it took nearly 5 minutes since my arrival for someone to acknowledge us all. The waitress gal just walked off and left us all wondering what the heck. She finally returned and seated one group… then wondered off again for another couple minutes. Took someone’s to go order whom was in line behind me. Oooook. 3:00pm I’m finally seated. She doesn’t walk me to a table, she just points and tells me to «sit over there.» It’s just myself so I order sand which and a beer. They forget to bring my beer. Had to flag down another gal to get it. 3:45pm and I’m still waiting for my meal wondering what the heck is going on. It’s not THAT crowded and it’s literally just me chilling in the smaller dining area. Also worth noting its hot as hell in here. I get it’s a really old home but when it’s 100 outside you need some fans or something. Ceiling has a fan but it’s not on. Also no one has checked on me in the last 45 min either. Both water and beer are gone and I’m starving. Can’t tell if they just need to hire more staff or hire more efficient ones. 3:55pm tried to flag the waitress down and she just dismisses me. Another couple gets seated in my area 4:00pm ok seriously… where the sh! t is my food 4:05 order comes and it’s wrong. Awesome. Others that were seated around me get their food within 10 minutes. I seriously do not understand what is going on here. I’m getting up to leave.

I drove home from Bend jonesing to get a piece of Pinapple Millionaire pie. Im never in Gresham and I WASGOINGTOHAVEONE. I even planned on how I would calm myself if they told me they were out. They were not. I got a piece to go and sat in the shade snarfing. That is THEBESTPIE in Multnomah county. Another to go on my list of last meal requests.

I. Love. The. Trufflehunter. Every time we go here, I ask myself why we don’t frequent it even more! The food is fabulous. This time I got the Monte Cristo(without the ham, just a personal preference) and it was like eating a cloud of happiness. The only thing a person MUST know before eating here is that the sandwiches are made for a person the size of Shaq or larger… I can only eat about a forth of one at a time. The good news is that it keeps well for about 24 hours. I’ve never had trouble with the staff, either… Not the best, but not the worst, service of my life. Bonus tip: the garlic Parmesan fries are WELL worth the money. They may seem an extravagant splurge, but I promise your taste buds will pay you back ten fold.

Always great food. Service depends on who you get. Most of the time it’s great. Everything I’ve tried here so far was delicious. They did bring a meat patty instead of veggie so always double check before you dig in. Shrimp fettuccine was creamy but was lacking flavor, I had to salt it few times. Their grilled salmon was juicy yet firm, very tasty and just the right texture. You get a lot of food but take boxes and save room for a desert, you won’t regret it.

«Holy crap! That sandwich is f***ing huge!» That’s should be pretty much what any reasonable person says when they eat at Trufflehunter. Also, no reasonable person should eat one of their sandwiches in a single sitting. No, this is two meals for a normal person, three if you eat light. So what’s a guy on a diet to do? Get a Cobb salad. I opt for the raspberry vinaigrette because that sounds healthy-ish. Of course, they tell me that it comes with a slice of fresh-baked bread. That seems fine to me, then I realize that one slice of their bread is equal to three of what you’d find elsewhere. I push them to the side, and eat my salad. It’s very, very good. It was large, but not as ridiculously big a portion as the sandwiches. Seriously, who eats a whole one of these sandwiches? Not me or my lunch date, and both of us can put back some food. I am pretty much never in Gresham, so I don’t know when I’ll be back. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t return, just that I’m not in the hood. The food was tasty, the service was nice, and the environment(an old house converted into a restaurant) is nice and cozy. But seriously. Portion control, people.
