My fiancé took me here for our Valentine’s celebration. It had a very nice ambiance, and the food was delicious. I wish they had enforced the dress code though, as it would have given it that extra-special touch. Appreciated that our waiter double-checked that he was giving us the correct wine.

Where has this place been all my life?! Right here on Lafayette in Gretna and I didn’t know it! Charming is not too strong a word for this place. Neither is“great” for the food. And $ 10 lunch menu — Outstanding! Seafood gumbo was delicious, great roux base. And the Catfish Pecan is perfectly spiced and fried catfish filets served over a bed of creamy sweet potatoes… a sweet and spicy delight. I’ll be back!

I love how charming this place is. We went during the Christmas season and I felt like I was in a small village somewhere in Europe. So charming and the food was great! I got the turtle soup and crab pasta. Definitely a Gretna jem!

My wife and I had a very enjoyable dinner. I tried the Oyster Credeau as an appetizer and it was delicious. Justin was the best waiter I have had serve us at any restaurant. He removed my hat from the table and hung it up. What was really nice is that he returned it after dinner and put a clean cloth napkin under it before putting it back on the table. Also he was the first waiter to ask if I would like more butter or sour cream for my baked potato. Very polite and anticipated our every need. I do not kno0w where he learned to be a waiter, but he did a superb job. The Rib eye steak was delicious and my wife enjoyed the creamed spinach.

So we went here years ago and the service was HORRIBLE. We didn’t go back till yesterday. This time it was so much better. We sat near the fireplace and ordered drinks. Once our drinks came, we ordered an appetizer, soup and salad. My only complaint is that the appetizer, soup and salad all came out at the same time. I would have liked to enjoy my appetizer before my soup and salad. I had turtle soup and it was delicious. The flavors were spot on and it even had a little kick to it. I thought I ordered a cup, but I received a bowl and I was glad I did. I couldn’t get enough of it. The salad was a caprese salad and we both felt the cheese wasn’t fresh, but it was still a good salad. For entrees she got the redfish and substituted the sherry sauce to a lemon beurre blanc sauce, which she enjoyed and I had the Veal and it was perfect. It was exactly what I wanted it to be. The lightly breading soaked up the lemon butter just enough to soften the breading a little, but keep its texture without losing any flavor. It was delicious and I would go back… actually we will go back probably this week.

Unfriendly, absent, slow and rude service. Ordered the Seafood Sampler(fried) for around $ 24. They were out of asparagus(BOO) but the broccoli was perfectly steamed, seasoned and hot. That was the best part of the experience/meal. I normally order un-breaded seafood, but the fried shrimp was good. Crawfish étouffée was delicious. The fish was unappetizingly soft. Oysters had an off-flavor and the mini crab cake was inedible. Weird atmosphere.

This place was recommended by some people. We went for lunch and the food was great and was reasonable priced. The service was awful slow slow slow. I hope it was a one time deal. I will try again because the food was good but service gets a 0.

First time here, seemed to have a really great atmosphere. Noticed the prices on the menu didn’t exactly fit what seems to be the regular clientele. I was about to order dinner but the bartender was much more focused on her texting and did not hear the words which I spoke clearly to her…“miss, when you get a chance, we are ready to order”. Upon completion of her text, she walked away and came back moments later asking if we had decided. Spoiler alert… we decided to leave.

The only good thing I can say about red maple is they make a decent martini. Other than that, the food is poorly prepared and the specials are mediocre. I spent more time picking bones out a snapper than actually eating it and my date’s meal was literally two fried veal patties with greasy spinach as a stuffing. The wait service offered to take off one entrée due to our obvious disappointment, but this attempt was foiled by management. At one point they had a great turtle soup as a regular menu item, but that seems to be a rarity as well. Don’t waste your money. There’s too many great restaurants in this city for better prices.

Wasn’t overly impressed with this place. Salad was good, the rolls were good, but the homemade lasagna wasn’t that good at all. No flavor to it. Just had a bland taste to it. Should of stuck to the hamburger… Will say the price was reasonable for what we ordered.

Went to the bar area to get something Togo and a few drinks while we waited for the order. We were there for an entire hour, might at well just eaten there! Granted she was very busy, service was extremely slow, but we were patient. Left more than a 20% tip and when I asked for a lemon for my calamari, I was told I could go down to the oyster shucker and get it myself. Was less than impressed with the food as well, especially the calamari, which had no flavor. Needless to say, we’ll take our money elsewhere!

Between Gretna’s «speed ticket vans» and irregular, un-announced closings; we have given up on Red Maple ! When in the ‘hood; try Gattusos’, instead. Much, much better; and, only about 3 blocks away !

This is a review of the private party space. I am a novice when it comes to setting up private events. Despite my lack of experience, I was tasked with setting up a function for work. Red Maple made the whole process extremely easy. I emailed the manager and she returned my email promptly with a price and option sheet. All it took was a phone call and we were set. The Bar Our bartender Dominique was excellent. Besides being a great at making drinks, she was engaging and quite patient with our motley group. She went out of her way to get Turbodog specifically for me. If you book an event, make sure and ask that she is your bartender. The food We picked three different entrees when setting up the party. I chose the fillet, but others got either smoked chicken or grilled redfish. My fillet was cooked properly, and as good as any that I have had at a private event. Besides the entrees we had corn and crab bisque, a salad, and bread budding. The corn and crab bisque was the star of the night. It was among the best versions of that dish that I have had in the city. The room The private room is very nice. While it is next to the main dining room, you definitely feel secluded from other diners. We didn’t get too rowdy, but I would imagine we could have and not bothered the other guests. The cost I wont list prices since I am sure they are subject to change, but Red maple was by far the most reasonable and easy place to deal with. I contacted numerous other venues, but I am glad I chose where I did. If you need a place for a private party, give the Red maple a try.

A charmer of a traditional neighborhood Louisiana restaurant. Great service and food at a reasonable price. Convenient location certainly a bonus. Was there on a lunch meeting, arranged by someone who lives on the Westbank. I chose the lunch special of the day – white beans along with grilled catfish. Most definitely pleased. Copious amounts of food, prepared very well. The salad served with the lunch was standard iceberg fare, but the blue cheese dressing was homemade and just great. Our waiter was a long-time member of the staff, also known to one of my dining companions who frequents the café. He was just about alone in working a crowded room, and attempted to make excuses for slow service. But, the service was neither slow nor harried, and his recommendations related to various menu items were well-received and appropriate. I will happily return to Red Maple and encourage anyone on business in the Gretna area to enjoy a lunch there as well.

Didn’t go to the bar, which seems to have much better reviews. I don’t think I’ve EVER said this before, but our waiter gave me the creeps, like he was planning to kill us and serve us to the next table. He was a little too enthusiastic, a little too eager to please, and somehow it wasn’t in a pleasant way. When we didn’t want dessert he made it seem like we were offending him. The food was expensive and underwhelming. I ordered a salad with grilled shrimp and it was okay, but I can make a better one on my own. I tried things from my family members’ plates and was also disappointed. My boyfriend only took his leftovers home to be polite. What’s most disappointing about this restaurant is that it’s so well decorated. There’s a beautiful patio and the dining area is all wood panel and brick. One star solely for the décor, despite how misleading it is. I probably won’t ever come back.

This place would get more stars from me, but there’s a few negatives about this place… First, the service is by far the worst. Ive been here a few times and i always dread the service. When we were seated, it took our server about 10 minutes to come and get our drink order. There were a table of 5 and a table of 2 who came after us and they got their drinks before us! One also got their order because they knew their server. Even though we had a different server from them, it still doesn’t matter! After she came got our order, it took about 10 – 15 minutes for her to come out and give us empty plates and our utensils(we did the All you can eat snow crabs). It then took another what seemed like 10 minutes for her to come out with a plate of them, when we seen other tables getting seconds and thirds. I don’t want to jump the gun and assume, but this place either has horrible service every time we go or they are racist. If they aren’t, they put the vibe as if they are because i feel like the white customers(no offense) are getting better service and more attention then my table. Our server disappeared after giving us the platter, and didnt come back to us until we needed a refill on the crabs. After we were done with our second round, our drinks were already empty, and that’s when she asked if we needed a refill. Um, aren’t you suppose to ask when it’s like half empty or close to being gone?! We were ready for the check! The good about this place is their corn and crab bisque. It was very delicious! Not salty like other places I had. So, thumbs up for that!

We like going to Red Maple for a couple of drinks and apps. The staff and owners are very friendly. If you’re looking to be entertained, you can guarantee«Richie» will most likely be there with his shenanigans. LOL ;) Also very convenient because it’s right around the corner from our house. It’s definitely one of the nicest places on the westbank! Not necessarily the place to go for a quiet dinner and conversation… the music can get quite loud.

I’ve never gotten more than an appetizer here, but I really like the place. It has an «old school» Westbank feel and could probably stand to be updated, but the staff is nice and it’s a nice place to hang out if you just want an appetizer or a drink. The front has more of a «loungey» feel with a jukebox, bar area, and video poker, but the back is huge and gorgeous. I can definitely see having a party here or going here on a night out with friends. The staff was really nice and attentive and made sure that we were taken care of and had everything that we needed. I would definitely go back, maybe for lunch.
