I invited my mom out to Lunch today and she picked Casa Lupe Restaurant :) I am a big fan of the Market/deli, which I frequent often. I haven’t been to the Restaurant in a long time, so it was a great choice for a rainy Saturday afternoon. The inside of the dining area has been newly remodeled/changed about two months ago. Everything looks very different, more open space, nice atmosphere, and festive Christmas decorations everywhere. They still have the bar, counter seating, flat screen TV’s, and the girls still wear those cute black outfits. Basically it’s a black skirt with white lace trim, black top and black leggings. The guys wear black slacks and black shirt. Hostess was friendly and welcoming, we got seated to with menus. Overall, I was impressed with the new look and changes. This Restaurant is always BUSY, they posted new hours near Entrance and are now closed on Mondays! They bring you chips and their unique salsa! I love their chips and salsa, it compares to no other and I’ve never had anything like it anywhere else. It has a ton of flavor/spices, everything is chopped very tiny, and my favorite thing about their salsa, is that it has crunchy celery! Once I start eating their chips and salsa, it’s so difficult to stop lol. We ordered Chicken Enchiladas, a cup of Albondigas soup, and Carne Asada steak! Jessica was our server, very nice and attentive. She checked on us, refilled our waters, and did a great job in a timely manner. Since it was lunch time, the Restaurant was busy and more people coming in while we were eating. The Chicken Enchiladas come with rice and beans, lots of shredded chicken inside, homemade sauce is delicious. The Albondigas soup is very good, you can order cup or bowl size. I had their Carne Asada steak, it’s one of the main things I consistently always order over the years. It’s a decent size cut of meat grilled to your preference, I usually pick Medium, topped with bell peppers, onions, and a few french fries. It comes with rice and beans, a side of guacamole and your choice of Flour or Corn tortillas. They have good Flour tortillas! I always ask for them to bring their spicy chiles, which come in glass bottles, one is red and one is green, the red is HOT! Lunch today at Casa Lupe Restaurant was great!!! I left so FULL and satisfied, those chips and salsa are what get me! I highly recommend the Restaurant for a nice sit down meal, and the Market/deli for a quick To Go. They only have Carnitas on the weekends, which are excellent! Breakfast is available until 1130am. I asked about their desserts and they have Flan, Cheesecake, Tiramisu. I would like to try Flan next time! When you are finished eating, and server brings your bill, you go pay at the Register near Hostess desk.

I was so disappointed in out food!!! My friend ordered a super burrito. Sounds delicious… Well is was horrible! First of all he had chunks of something that we think is wood in his burrito… So gross! We all ordered chicken and we were all expecting shredded. Nope we all just God huge chunks of bland chicken with zero seasoning. So for his super burrito she had to pick out the wood chucks and shred his own chicken and on top of it season it him self… I order a tostada that consisted of a chunk of chicken with some lettuce and two slices of tomato… The salsa was the worst thing I have ever tasted in my life! Let’s just say we chalked this up to a learning experience… 4 stars on Unilocal doesn’t mean anything in real life…

Truly a Gridley staple. Best restaurant in town! Always consistent and the service is always exceptional. The chips and salsa are my all time fave. And ordering a Cadillac Margarita is a must.

We are on a weekend family work trip and have had a few bumps and blocks along the way. We chose Casa Lupe out of the multiple options in Gridley, CA. First stop upon entering the restaurant was entering the restroom and I’m pleased to say that they are clean and well maintained. Our host placed our group of 4 in a tiny booth. We were elbow to elbow and we are normal sized people. So we requested a table change and were accommodated without hesitation by our excellent server, Janet. Guacamole appetizer was a great decision and Janet re-upped our chip basket whenever we were close to running out. We each enjoyed different dishes; authentic chile verde and satisfying steak tacos. Really though, order any dish with their rice and beans and you will be pleased. Our evening really picked up as we exited the restaurant, seeing a small kitten beneath our car jump up into our undercarriage. We didn’t feel right about beginning our 8 hour drive without removing the cat. So we used Casa Lupe’s water hose to flush the kitten out. To our avail, flush out was unsuccessful. Casa Lupe’s Sales Manager, Lauro Del Rio came to our aid. Bringing cat knowledge and a sheet of cardboard to keep our clothes clean from the parking lot. Eventually, we captured the ferrel kitten! We’re naming her Lupe! Thank you to the team at Casa Lupe for their excellent service and willingness to respond to an unexpected consumer need.

This place was pretty good… food was good… the salsa was basically cut up veggies and it was gross in my opinion… i ask if they had different salsa and they brought out 2 more kinds… they were delicious the young lady who was our server was very nice… this is what I hate about mexican restaurants that claim to be authentic. .please make ur own tortillas. .if u do not do this then u are not authentic in my book. This food was pretty good but tortillas were from the mission bag… over all good… not bad… and not outstanding.
