Went for the Easter brunch. It seemed more like a continental breakfast at a three star hotel. The prime rib and ribs were mostly fat. The other food items that should have been warm were cold. The only positive on the day was the omelet, but it was brought out after we had finished most of our meal. Then we get the bill for $ 97, what a shocker they added a 20% tip to a party of three at a buffet. Never Again.

Well, we went for brunch after church & we were greeted by Nicky and a big smile. She was very accomidating. Now I had to stand & wait for the young man to turn around to order my omelet, the food on the buffet was cold, & the chicken was greasy. Becareful what you say, there is no music playing so you can hear what everyone is saying. Probably not a do over.

The almond encrusted chicken tenders and the Alfredo are some of the best I’ve ever had.

After dining at The Radish too many times to count, we decided to grab a bite tonight after trick or treating and to experience the new ownership. The parking lot was almost empty, so I wasn’t sure if they were open. When we walked in the front door, there was no smile or greeting. A Hostess(?) walked toward us but didn’t make eye contact or say anything. The new Manager then walked by and said«hello» and then the Hostess said it… as if she just remembered the words. The lights were too bright, but it allowed me to see the dirt on the floor and the food on my butter dish as we sat down. When our water was brought to our table, and the young man grabbed the tops of the glasses to move them to the table… you know, the part your lips touch, I asked for a new plate. I was brought a new one with what I thought might be a «look». OK, now I felt like I was just seeing things. Maybe we walked into the wrong place? We ordered the Radish Kool Aid Martini’s and neither of us could taste any alcohol(not our first time having this drink). The bread and butter were as good as always, but the ranch dressing to the salad didn’t have the same fresh taste. The bone in ribeye was cold… not cool… cold. We asked for our favorite crème brulee and the topping was cooked at our table… but not enough. It was just soft sugar. The best part of this dessert is the crunch of the topping. The final straw for us was to listen to the loud conversation between the help at the bar. It ranged from sexual references to a racist joke. We are so disappointed. Could this be a Halloween prank? We are so hoping this was just a one off.

Tastee, tastee, tastee. Good service. Folks were friendly and courteous. Told them we were from out-of-state and they gave us special treatment. I had the Italian sausage — melted cheese — peppers — yum!

Great Sunday brunch buffet — full range of choices from basic breakfast to lasagna. Very friendly service too.

I’m so glad I experienced this place and that my family did too! We arrived at 6:30 on a Wednesday with a reservation but didn’t need one, plenty of room. I was surprised by how roomy it really was. We were seated on the left side in a booth. I like how roomy their booths are but I don’t like that the back has see through glass. Just a personal privacy preference. I don’t recall our servers name but he had a star tattoo on the forearm– great server. Very tentative, timely, and provided a stellar dinner recommendation– his own favorite of course. :) The Wednesday night special is lasagna. I wasn’t really in a lasagna mood. My husband and I started with the calamari. I liked the calamari because it was the right type of breading, not too much fried, and in strips versus chunks that I’ve had previously. We also received a bread and butter basket. I love the bread! It has a hint of something sweet… Cinnamon maybe? It was delicious. For dinner I ordered the recommended stuffed apricot glazed salmon as did my mother in law. The others ordered trout, surf and turf, and an Italian sandwich(I think). I enjoyed my meal very much. My mother in law said her salmon wasn’t cooked totally in the center but really enjoyed the rest of her meal. My husband and my bill was $ 90 with one appetizer, two entrees, and about 5 drinks between us.

An odd mix of locals in shorts and flip flops with outsiders looking for something unique. This place is on the corner of a Main Street in grimes. It smells of fish upon arrival. Medium steak cooked to gray. Ribeye ¼″ thick. Servers nice. Would not return.

Server was slow and didn’t check in on us, while the waiter next to us was spot on. Food was okay, might give them another try. Grimy chips were okay, but sandwiches were mediocre(bottom of Reuben was soggy).

I went here with my daughter the atmosphere is awesome. However when it come to there food verse price. They a way over priced. I ordered the salmon cakes and I got three small ball of salmon with a half cup of lettuce in the center to make the dish look fuller then it actually is. I won’t be coming back

My wife and I have dined there often and have had nothing but great food and great service. There brunch is one of the best in the Des Moines metro, but it can be quite busy at times. I would definitely recommend a reservation for their brunch.

Worst dining experience ever. After having a reservation for over a month and traveling from out of town, we were seated in a back room near the exit and bathroom. We waited quite sometime for server to greet our table and our food was brought to each of us at two separate times Luke warm in temperature. Forty minutes into our dining experience, we were asked if they could escort us to the crowded bar area to finish our meal since they wanted to give our table to a larger party who had walked in on Valentine’s evening without a reservation. We had only been 40 minutes into or dining experience. If zero was as option I would list this instead.

It had been a few years since we’ve visited The Radish. My husband & I shared an almond encrusted chicken salad with the delicious homemade dressings & cannelloni. Both dishes were great! I think I could eat the salad daily. You should check this place out. The all-you-can-eat fried chicken smelled & looked great. Maybe next time.

I’ve eaten at the Radish several times. For the most part, it’s a great alternative to the run-of-the-mill standards you find in the western ‘burbs. Over the weekend, my wife and I and another couple ventured in and were seated immediately. It was ~7PM so the early crowd was thinning out. After about 5 minutes we were greeted by a server and our drink orders were taken. That was pretty much the last time we saw her. She was replaced by a much more attentive, albeit harried, server who did her best to keep up. Perhaps they were short of staff that night. Anyway, we placed our orders and waited. Aaand waited. Eventually our appetizer arrived, the Blackened Mushrooms — and it was outstanding. One of my favorite apps in town, honestly. Perfectly sautéed button mushrooms in a slightly Cajun-ed sauce. Very tasty. Our salads and soups never arrived. 3 of us ordered the Prime Rib, which was truly excellent, our friend ordered the Salmon Florentine and she loved. it. Because of the miss with the salads, soups, and timings, they comped us 4 desserts, which were okay. The chef visited us a couple of times to make sure we were okay. You know, when service is missing, and they care about it… it makes up for the lack. I appreciate that the Chef(owner, too?) came out. Nice touch on his part. He knew our table was having issues. So, to recap: the food was very good; the service was very spotty. My guess is they were understaffed with servers and they couldn’t get their ordering right in the kitchen. I’ll definitely go back; no harm no foul. Hopefully the service’ll be tighter.

I met up with some girlfriends here for our first experience at The Radish. We were sat in a booth and it was cozy. The food was pretty good, so was the wine! I ordered the Ruby Red Trout which was lightly floured, pan seared and served in a white wine, lemon & cream sauce. I got a side of the vegetables, which were fresh green beans. For my wine I got the BV Coastal Sauvignon Blanc. Thank you for having more than just a Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio to chose from! My only beef with this joint was the server. It wasn’t that she was friendly because she was but I swear she wrote our orders down so I was surprised when it took her a minute to place our meals down in front of us correctly and also when she came back and wasn’t sure which check belonged to whom and when she did items were on the wrong checks. I think this is probably a training issue and it’s easy enough to write down orders in the correct order to fix that so I kept this at 4 stars. Definitely a good place outside Des Moines.

I’ve had dinner here a few times. Their steak is mediocre and pricey. The place itself is very tight for my liking. Not the most ideal for a date for 2. The small lot/side of the street attracts a lot of people with $ 60k+ vehicles and I don’t get. I’ll drive a little further for better food at Texas Roadhouse for less money.

My husband and I was passing through Des Moines — I decided to see what dinner menus were the closest to where we were and the Unilocal-Posters didn’t steer us wrong. I had the Coconut Encrusted Tilapia and my husband had the Surf n Turf. Both meals were delicious! The service was great and the Resturant spotless! The meal prices are very reasonable. FYI — ask the Chef to go light on the seasoning for the«Surf» just a little too salty… Otherwise we are glad we stopped in for dinner… From Cumming, Georgia…

Absolutely excellent. The brunch was exquisite. The breakfast pizza was top notch. The service was second to none, always attentive. For the price, this is THEBEST breakfast/brunch place in Des Moines.

I am adding a review about their Sunday Brunch. We had heard about it through a co-worker who said we had to go sometime. We arrived around 11:30 am and were seated right away. We had a booth directly across from the buffet. We were told we could go to the buffet whenever we were ready. Ther was a lot to choose from, everything from pastries to omlets to pasta to salad. My favorite was the cheesy hash browns; they had great flavor. Their breakfast pizza was really good too. Heck all the food I had was good! The only reason I am not ranking it a five star is because a couple omlets got a little too done and they had to open the front door to get the haze out. The place got cold. I liked this brunch over Granite City’s.
