This restaurant is a great addition to the Grosse Pointe Village district. I was there for a quick dinner tonight. I sat in the bar area. Plenty of tv screens throughout the restaurant. The bar was hoping and the restaurant was almost full. I ordered the lamb sliders and they were outstanding. The service was very good. We also came here when the restaurant first opened. Their burgers are really good as well as the kale salad. Just recently they added outdoor seating. We will come here often.

Only been there once. Brussels sprouts are good. Hot pretzels too(although the cheese sauce is thin — tastes fake). But The lamp sliders — terrible! So disappointing — especially since the waitress recommended them. You should NEVER serve pre-cooked patties without a hint of seasoning or salt. Couldn’t even taste the tzatziki sauce. Should be cooked to order with generous sauce on pita(not mini brioche). The cheese stuff they put on the French fries is kinda mucky. Better on the side like they do so well as Red Crown. It doesn’t take much effort to prepare good fresh clean food. Look at Selden Standard(comparably priced) No excuse for a lazy chef. Your food should be outstanding for all the money you spent on the building(which is beautiful). Get better or folks will stop coming!!!

I really want to love this place. The food is really good for the most part, and so is the atmosphere. They have a great drink selection. Unfortunately, their service is severely lacking. Waitresses that come to the table as if you’re bothering them, giving the wrong drinks, being real snarky when you ask their opinion. There is one bartender there, a tall gentlemen who I believe was at Fishbones for a long time, was far and away the best part of our experience. Step up the service, and everything else will fall into place.

Extremely disappointed by my most recent visit. It was a Friday night and we ate inside on a real hot day. Our section was half empty and our waitress had literally two tables. Then the massacre began… We sat down and didn’t even get acknowledged for 15 minutes. The waitress came over and slammed four waters on the table without anything close to a «hello.» Then we asked about the items in the drink list, and literally said: «You don’t want any of these things. It’s just stuff we’re trying to get rid of.» Oh, well that’s nice! A place is selling shit items to patrons at abnormally high prices! Things got worse. After we ordered cocktails they didn’t arrive for ANOTHER15 – 20 minutes. Waitress was walking like a turtle and we ordered an app(pretzels) with our meals because we realized it would take approximately one year to receive both. App took another 15 minutes(average pretzels with cheese that tasted like it was from a can at Walmart) and we needed more drinks… food comes out and it was alright. One major problem: the GF’s $ 20 crab cakes weren’t even cooked. Her rice was cold too. The three of us told her to return the dish? Which she feared would take another half hour. She did, waitress apologized and got her comped crab cakes. BUTWAIT! They made her pay for the fish tacos! No accountability. Oh, and the waitress comped one of her gin n tonics and my friend’s gin n tonic because they«took so long» to come out. Meanwhile, I ordered a drink(beer) in between both those orders and was the last to receive mine — and I got no comp. WTF? This place is expensive, the menu is too big and still doesn’t have unique food, and the service is pure garbage. I’ve gone twice since opening and it’s obvious this place is getting worse. I wish we called the manager over, but after two hours of being pissed off we just needed to leave. It was a terrible experience and all four of us will never be back!

Bummer but the service here is terrible! I live in Grosse Pointe Farms and would love to have a restaurant/bar to go to regularly that is close by. The waitress was obviously not happy with her job which is sad. Very cool environment and the food was decent but because of the service I will not go back. Took her almost a half hour to cash us out after giving her our credit card. Not good.

Food was very poor. Drinks are very good. Had lamb sliders which were very small for price, too well done, and no sides — not even chips. Salad was also small for price and tenderloin was anything but tender. Chicken wings were greasy — not crisp and hot sauce very salty. Chicken chili had almost zero chicken and served in a small square bowl for $ 6. Not a good value at all.

If you’re eating the food after a couple of drinks — it’s delicious. If you’re stone cold sober and very hungry and it takes 30 minutes for them to plate and serve tasteless fish tacos… Yeah not so much. Grosse Pointe prices, suburban service — I want to love it but I just can’t.

Enjoyed everything from piedmontese hamburger and white bean chicken chili, deep selection of whiskey especially bourbon. Tap beer was perfectly cold, waitstaff were all friendly and helpful.

Atmosphere is great but that is about it. Been here twice. I was hoping the first poor experience was from being a new place but unfortunately it is not. First time hostess was a nightmare and could not handle seating when more than one table arrived at once, second time different hostess was better. Wait staff has been inattentive each time. Hurting sales by not coming around for a new drink order. The most disappointing is the food. Nothing on the menu is that inspiring. And the food when it arrives is disappointing. Had the salmon with rice and bok choy. Kind of bland and overpriced for the size. Wife had a white chili that see thought was the butternut squash soup at first glance. The fried brussels sprouts were very good. Really want this place to be good since Grosse Pointe can sure use more good restaurants. Will try again sometime and hopefully the food and service will match the atmosphere.

I was so excited to try this new place out. I’ve been sneaking peeks inside of it ever since they began construction. I was disappointed though when we finally came by. I stood by the door once I walked in like a deer in headlights waiting for someone to approach me to seat me. No one came and I felt awkward so I went and found a waitress who was cleaning up in the back. She looked like I had pulled her out of some trance and when I asked if I should seat myself she just looked even more confused. It was late at night(around 10:30) and apparently they don’t serve their usual menus at that point. I understand sometimes that’s the protocol for some places so alright. Just a bummer. We ended up getting some burgers and they tasted decent. I’ll come back and try this place again. Just not the greatest first impression because of the staff.

I’m posting this brief review of The Whiskey Six after two dinnertime visits. TW6 is a welcomed addition to the limited Grosse Pointe dining scene. It strikes me as an Ann Arbor establishment with an older demographic. With a little seasoning and experience, I hope it will be a success. Early impressions: * The beer selection is long but unimaginative. Come on TW6, take some risks! * The hostess and bar servers are terrific. Friendly, casual, and fast. Can’t ask for more. * Food servers are between very good and trying to be. Still learning, they get a B+. * Burgers are excellent, fish tacos not so great. Salads are very good. Haven’t tried much more than those, but stay tuned, we will be back and will update. * Parking across the street is 75 cents an hour. Easy schmeesy. * Their web site claims that they take reservations. NOTTRUE!

Got there on Friday night at 6:15 and was promptly seated in the back which looked to be less fun than the front section but probably a little quieter. Had very low expectations based on reviews but found it to be very friendly and attentive. My friend recommended the brussel sprout app and it was deliciously different from the many tired versions I’ve had. Then we both had the apple brie sandwich which was divine. It was beautifully served with a green salad and cut of fries. We loved it. They don’t scoff at you for wanting a domestic beer, bring it quickly, and check back. My friend and I joke that we have aged out of many bars because we still want a Bud sometimes. Try this place. Eat and drink without judgement. Can’t wait to return and get that sandwich again.

Atmosphere with potential, but man oh man do they have kinks to work out. Showed up Saturday night around 730, it’s packed, and we’re quoted an hour. Ok that’s fine, no big deal. We find a spot by the bar to hang out and get drinks while we wait. Speaking of drinks, for a place with as many spirits(especially whisky) available, their cocktail program needs a major overhaul. The selection of beers on tap was good, but they have a disappointingly short and banal list of cocktails on the menu. The cocktail list looks like something ordered from an out of town«spirits consultant». Put a good faith effort in a quality and original cocktail program please, plenty of other places do it and W6 can too. Anyway, 45 minutes into our wait we go to the host to check and are informed that the kitchen is really backed up and they’ve stopped seating tables. Lol, wut? Your menu consists of burgers, sandwiches, pizzas, and a few plated entrees. How is that possible to be so backed up you have to stop seating people? Reading through other reviews it’s pretty clear this is a recurring problem. Management needs to make some changes. Anyway, we left and don’t see much reason to come back absent significant improvement.

First time here. I called ahead and they said if you got there between six and 6:15PM you would be able to get a table. I was there at 6:10PM. They told me 10 to 15 minutes before table opened up. I asked again at 645 still no table. At 6:55 we laughed and got a table at city kitchen which was fabulous. I noticed hardly any food coming out of the kitchen very slow service. Noise level through the roof. No I will never step foot in this restaurant again

I am appalled by the incredible lack of organization that I was confronted with this evening at Whiskey 6. The awe inspiring lack of dignity by which this organization«functions» is unacceptably rude and careless. As someone who has worked in the service industry, I am confused as to how there are no managerial skills present(or even visible). I waited for upwards of 2 hours for a table I never received. Their phone number does not operate and the hostesses/bartenders offer no consolation. I hope they are able to correct their inexcusable errors in operation and hospitality before their impending failure overcomes them.

Really cool atmosphere, but super busy! Came on a Tuesday night around 5:30 and had about a half hour wait for a table for two. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks while we waited then we ended up just ordering food at the bar because we didn’t want to continue to wait for a table. The bartenders are very attentive to your needs and made great drinks! The food didn’t come out very fast, but it was busy, and we weren’t in a hurry so it wasn’t a huge deal. Around 7:00 it got very busy to the point where people were standing all around the bar which could be annoying to people sitting at the bar. I would definitely come back again once all the excitement dies down a bit.

Came here on a Saturday night for dinner with the family. We arrived a few minutes after 5 and were told it would be a 45 minute wait. The bar was too crowded to sit at but we luckily found some standing room and began ordering drinks. The whiskey sour was great and they have a nice selection of draft beer. If you’re coming here for $ 10 drinks, it’s not a bad spot. You can’t transfer your pre-dinner drinks to your dinner tab, so you’ll have to cash out before sitting down. Unfortunately, after about 50 minutes of waiting we went to check on our reservation. At this point, told us it would be an additional 30 minutes. Around 6:30 we finally got our table, which was a bit too small for a party of 10. In fact, the table had only 5 chairs at it when we went to sit down and had to wait another 10 minutes for the staff to bring us more chairs. We got settled and ordered our food. I ordered 4 «small plates», two as my appetizer and two as my meal. They all came out as appetizers, so I was left with no food when the rest of my party ate their entrees. I had the bourbon prawns — the flavor of bourbon was way too overpowering. The Brie was far too sweet. I also had the crab cake and lamb sliders, which were decent, but definitely not worth $ 12 apiece for three very small burgers. The butternut squash soup is served with an obnoxious dollop of cinnamon flavored butter in the middle that we had to scoop out. If you prefer your squash soup savory, this is not the soup for you. They were also out of the poutine, meatballs, and chicken chili soup by 6:30pm. Perhaps it’s a good thing that all my food came out early because the rest of my party wasn’t served until almost 8pm. No one really liked what they had; fish tacos weren’t good, salad was OK but came with dressing when we had specified it on the side, they forgot to add the chicken to a salad(and by the time it arrived the salad was almost gone), pizza was nothing special. Definitely a huge disappointment. Food isn’t good, it’s overpriced, service is slow, it’s very loud… If you do decide to come here, I recommend sticking to drinks only and getting dinner elsewhere. Two stars, at least until they get on their feet.

Great new restaurant in the Village of Grosse Pointe. Massive wooden bar with lots of seating space in the back area as well. Tons of large TVs for the avid sports fan but they aren’t intrusive. The atmosphere in this place is lively and upscale casual with dark wooden accents throughout. The staff is still getting everything together as they just opened but did a fine job of handling our orders. The food is very well priced. Burgers run from $ 10 – 14, individual pizzas started at $ 10. Lots of shareable appetizers to choose from as well. The quality of our meal was very good. The sides are probably the thing we were left wanting more from. We ordered the onion rings($ 6) and got a small unappealing portion which did not live up to the price. We saw some fries going out of the kitchen and they looked much more appropriately sized and tasty. The drink list is massive, including a large selection of craft beers(mostly Michigan made) on tap. They have a large whiskey and scotch selection, as well as tons of mixed drinks. Would recommend for anyone coming to the area looking for a high end feel without the high end price tag. This place will be a game changer in the Grosse Pointe restaurant community.

Went on opening night so the place was slammed. Waited 35 minutes for a table, but waited it out at the very nice bar. The space is well done and with a large square marble topped bar int the middle with the bartenders inside the square. The drink choices were plentiful and high end, but the bartenders were not billed as mixologists and the drinks weren’t called craft. The prices were on the higher side, but that seems to be the norm these days. $ 9 for a Bullitt Rye on the rocks for example, but some wine choices in the $ 7 — 10 range, I’ve seen worse. I had a pinot noir that was ok, a bit light in flavor, so I’ll try something else next time. On to the food choices. A good mix of basic for those that don’t like to try new things and interesting options for those that do. I had the lamb sliders and an order of grilled vegetables. My friend had chili and onion rings(basic stuff). Other choices were duck confit over fries w/poutine, or roast beef sliders, fish tacos w/jicama, design your own pizza, some yummy sounding flatbread choices, so lots of things to try on return trips. The 3 lamb sliders were very good with pickled onions and tzatziki sauce. The grilled veggies came out and it was carrots & onions in a brown sauce. I was very confused. When our waitress came back I asked her if she was sure if this was the correct dish because it appeared to be carrots & onions scooped out of a stew in a brown gravy. She said she didn’t know but would find us some actual grilled veggies. She came back with a portobello mushroom, red pepper, zucchini, yellow squash and a tomato all grilled in a balsamic vinegar. Not sure if that was what we were supposed to get or if they whipped that up. My friends chili was just ok, kind of thin and lacking in flavor, so that was a miss and it wasn’t very filling. I thought the battered onion rings were very good. The décor was ok, not terribly inspiring, but they’re trying to invoke a prohibition era feel I guess. The wood walls were a bit dull and our fake wood grain table was not aesthetically pleasing. There’s obviously pent up demand in Grosse Pointe for another place to eat and mingle that falls between high end and diners and the crowd last night proved that. I hope they keep up the standards. For opening night the staff did an admirable job. They had 2 or 3 hostesses trying to manage everyone and they stayed calm while trying to get everyone seated. Biggest bottleneck seemed to be the ordering station — there were only 2 and the waitresses were stacked up trying to get their orders into the computer. To keep up management will need to add another one.
