What do you expect?! It’s a small brewery with a decent sized restaurant and bar for your merriment pleasures. After an afternoon enjoying the beautiful Armstrong woods just up the road we stopped in for a bite and a taste. There’s plenty to choose from off the menu and the server was helpful with her favorites. We ended up with the pork sliders and the brisket nachos and both were good. Now, we didn’t walk in with hyped up expectations of fine cuisine or an ultimate culinary masterpiece. So, we really liked the food. We ordered our drinks and sat outside on the huge beautiful deck. Now it’s been pretty rainy here and this was a crisp, clear day so the sun bathed deck seemed like the perfect choice. And it was, right up until chilly gusts of wind whipped across the Russian River and across the outdoor deck. Luckily, the restaurant inside is comfortable, interesting, and warm! We finished our drinks inside before we booked it back home. As far as beer, we ordered their flight and I ended up ordering a donkey punch to have all to myself. While I wont be craving their beer, we both found one or two out of the four that we enjoyed. Now we know what to order when we go back! A $ 5 flight for 4 about 5oz glasses is well worth it and our food got the job done. I found the citrus dressing for my side salad to be light and tasty… and the salad was fresh! The bar and restaurant are clean and typical of a small pub. The back deck and huge outdoor bar are nice features. We can’t wait to head back when the weather is a little warmer. Yes you need to order food at the food counter and drinks at the bar. You also need to bring cash. Hey folks it’s a small gem along the river to be enjoyed. Get your nose out of the air, order a drink, sit down and relax. Enjoy the view and the people. Make it about the experience and you too will enjoy this little spot. By the way, the staff was friendly, helpful, and available when you need assistance. We will go back and will recommend. Cheers

Too bad it was too cold to use the outdoor area. Seems maybe the only good thing about the place. The worst wheat beer I have ever tried. I like the Dick door though. I appreciate dirty humor.

I dig the dive bar scene, and I liked it here. They’ve got a nice area in the back where you can sit right by the river. It’s really pretty. I tried the rat bastard beer and it was great. Service was very friendly! Check it out if you’re in the area.

What’s not to love? I enjoyed a glass of their wheat beer with a grilled chicken, bacon and onion ring sandwich which was delicious(BBQ sauce was good)! My hubby enjoyed his cheeseburger, and thick fries which were tasty as I kept stealing them. So the food was tasty but WoW! What an awesome location, definitely a good time to be had here: Beautiful deck with a view of the river, happening bar so folks can enjoy the game outdoors, a nice pool table, + air hockey, a doggie play area, and a lawn that takes you straight to river. AND, wait for it… They just built a smokehouse for some serious grilling and smoking. Can’t wait! In my opinion this place is under-rated. So far my experience in Guerneville is that the service is excellent and everyone is friendly, and this rings true here, as well.

I stopped in here after a few pleasant hours in the Armstrong Woods sanctuary up the road in Guerneville. It looks a little shady at first, as it’s really dark in there and it looks like the kind of place where a bunch of bikers would hang out — just your average roadside bar. However, the best part is the massive porch in the back, which has ample seating and sits right next to the Russian River(which is pretty low at the moment). Here we were able to partake in some decent sandwiches — I tried a BBQ pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw on it and it was pretty good. My father in law had the BBQ brisket sandwich which he liked, and my cousin had a reuben which was also good. I say«good» because it was exactly that– it wasn’t totally memorable or insanely awesome, but very good. The beer selection was also decent — not a ton of choice, but they had some home-brew on tap. I tried a Rat Bastard pale ale(5.4%) which was tasty — had a mellow flavor with a hint of spice, and there was another IPA that looked promising. They also had Racer 5 and a few other local brews on tap that were also awesome choices. Would I come back here? yes I would come back — not sure I would stay for the food though. But the beers and the deck on a warm day would be a plus.

For being in the middle of nowhere — I was pleasantly surprised. We went here for a wedding rehearsal. At first it seemed dead; there was no one there and very few staff. Within 20 minutes that changed up quick! I had a Salty Rachel(whisky, honey, limeade and some salty chili stuff) for $ 5 and it was pretty decent! I had a pulled pork sliders with garlic fries, my hubby had a pulled pork bbq sando — also good. We had a bunch of appetizers(nacho’s, various fries, hummus and veggies, chicken wings or something — typical bar food). All good, not too greasy or wilted. I don’t think anything was frozen or stale. So that was nice. I’m fairly stuck up when it comes to food and I have to admit, it wasn’t bad for a ho-bunk bar in the middle of a forest in Guerneville. If I was ever stuck out there again — I’d return for quite a few more Salty Rachel’s.

Overall: Awesome and relaxing place to eat and drink. Great food, location, ambiance, and beer. I recommend. It’s nestled right on the lackadaisical Russian River. It’s peaceful sitting on the porch just staring at the river and surrounding foliage. Food: I recommend the pulled pork sandwich and garlic fries. The hummus and veggie appetizer was enjoyable as well.

I thought my food was kinda eh. The pulled pork sandwich got most of it’s flavor from the sauce and not enough of it’s flavor from the actual process of cooking it. My beers were ok but I honestly can’t remember what I had and it was like 4 days ago.

I love enjoying a cold beverage and having a meal outside. Even more, when it is a big open deck overlooking the Russian River. I stopped here for lunch after a leisurely hike in Armstrong Redwoods. I can’t recall if there was a sign or I had read on Unilocal that you order your food at the food counter and it was cash only, but I was prepared when we walked in. The inside was a bit dark and the bathroom looks like it belongs in a divey joint. It just has a bit of a different feel than I am used to for a brewpub, but the deck is the highlight for me. Food was ok and I wasn’t a fan of any of the three in house brewed beers that I ordered. Still a nice casual place and will most likely stop in again if I am in the area. Note, there is a fenced in dog area on the back deck if you want to bring your furbaby.

I would love to give this establishment a decent review. The food was great, the atmosphere was amazing, but the entire evening was ruined by our server. Amanda was ruthless — she was rude, inconsiderate and impatient. I tried to altar our order at multiple times, It took at least 20 minutes to get even her attention. Even when it seemed like she noticed us, she went about her business completely ignoring our entire table. I she wasn’t here I would come back for sure, but her attitude and service makes that a definite no.

+2 Stars for the Scenery and +1 star for the customer service. –1 star for mediocre food and –1 star for mediocre beer. My hubby, myself and my MIL were camping in the area and saw this on our way up. Now we love a good brewery stop whenever we’re on our adventures. I cant recall the last trip we went on that we didn’t find a new brewery to stop at. So we made it a point to stop on our way back home. First, we were promptly greeted and asked if we had ever been there before. When we replied«no» it was explained to us how things work around there. So we wandered out on the patio and were amazed by the views. We chose to sit on the outside railing to overlooking the Russian River. We went back in to check out their house made beers and were promptly greet by the bartender. Again she asked if we had been here before and told us how things work. Everyone was very nice. We ordered a flight of their 4 house made beers: 1) Bushwakcer Wheat– it was good, not sweet like a lot of wheats(I don’t like sweet), it was unfiltered which was nice. This was my favorite of the 4. 2) Donkey Punch Pilager– It was like a pilsner, but hoppy and had bitter after notes. 3) Rat Bastard Ale– Maybe this was an off batch cause a lot of other reviews rave about it, but it tasted off, slightly skunky to me. 4) Blimey the Wanker ESB– tasted just like the Rat Bastard only hoppier due to the fact that they use twice the hops. I really would have liked to see more variety in the types of beer, maybe they can expand on that? The ones available were all pretty similar. More variety means more people may find something that they really like. Food: I ordered the sliders, one pulled pork and one brisket. I liked that they had coleslaw it it, which gave it a nice crunch but there was WAYYY to much sauce on both of the sliders. I was unable to taste the actual flavor of the meat on the sandwich. All that sauce was really messy and the bottom bun was a soggy gross mess. The garlic asiago fries however were really good!

I love the atmosphere here — huge deck looking over the River, great service, and pretty good beers but the food sucks! They have this new thing going where nachos are covered in toxic-looking gas station cheese sauce. They will make it gourmet by adding pre-fab pico de gallo salsa and charge three bucks more. Someone got this great idea to make homemade tortilla chips which are sooo good but under all that industrial yellow waste, their flavor dies. The fries aren’t any better… gooey garlicky sauce under cold, shredded Parmesan, and they are always soggy. I so wish you guys would get a new chef in there because Stumptown is the epitome of good beers and terrible food!(sad face)

Hubs and I stopped here on our way to Armstrong Park. The door wasn’t locked and we just walked in. Turns out they weren’t going to open for another 30 minutes. OOPS! However, they let us hang out and skulk around the property until they officially opened. Beautiful area AND there is a fenced dog area. BONUS! We only had a beer and went on our way but we really enjoyed the drink, hospitality and conversation we had while there.

Best thing is the Deck on the RR and air hockey… all down hill after that! Beer is expensive and their brews are MEH Cash only Nachos are small and drowned in Whiz Bartenders are a bit too pissy and keep serving very drunk people with reckless abandon Save your sanity and stick with a better Resto/Bar!

This is not a pet friendly pub/restaurant. They have an unattractive ‘pen’ where all dogs are to be left, while the owners sit elsewhere. I don’t consider this to be friendly at all. The help was not at all open to us having our dog with us, in spite of the fact that we we almost the only ones there and were openly rude as we were walking in with our sweet and very well behaved dog. They also are a cash only establishment. Doesn’t look bad, menu limited, maybe good for beer only and if you don’t have a dog or even like dogs.

This is one of those times I wish Unilocal had half stars. Stumptown Brewery is somewhere between 3 and 4. My husband and I hiked the 6 mile loop at Armstrong Woods on a warm day and hit up the brewery on our way back to Petaluma. We both ordered a flight(three beers each). I wasn’t really impressed by any of the beers. They weren’t bad, but none were super memorable. For lunch, I ordered the veggie burger. It was good — pretty standard pub food. The best thing about this place is the patio along the Russian River. It was so nice sitting out there in the sun. I probably could’ve fallen asleep! They are CASHONLY. You have to pay as you go, which is kind of weird. You can only order food and drinks from the bar. Worth checking out if you’re in Guerneville on a sunny day looking for a place to hang out and drink some beer.

On a beautiful CA day — this was the best place to go after we Segwayed. Found THE perfect spot out on the deck to eat and chill. What to choose as there was the pulled pork or brisket than the rib special came up. My word those ribs were good with a substitution of garlic fries w/asiago cheese — coleslaw was yummy too. It was just sooo good for a weekend day of fun. It is cash only but the prices weren’t bad at all. There was a jukebox playing in the back and games were out on the deck. Also stairs to walk down to the river if you wanted to wander a bit. Motorcycle friendly. Great place to just chill on a deck

This is a for real 4-star, GOOD place. Not amazing, not gonna be your favorite spot, but genuinely GOOD. It doesn’t disappoint, and it’s a nice break from the myriad bohemian bourgeois brunch joints and the wine country elite dining spots. Great beers, good bloody marys, and solid burgers /pub food. Tip: The fish and chips are very good! As noted by others, it’s cash only — so be prepared — and the set up of the place is a little odd, which can make getting served a bit complicated. That said, if you’re looking for straight up good, heavy, casual American food and a drink — this place is a good choice. There’s indoor and outdoor bar seating, and indoor and outdoor table seating. There is a river access, and it’s dog-friendly.

The boyfriend and I stopped by Stumptown for a beer and a bite to eat during a weekend stay in Forestville. The boyfriend’s ribs(of which I stole a few) were pretty darn awesome, and I was left feeling a little jealous because my pulled pork sandwich was not as flavorful as I had hoped. An extra helping of the barbecue sauce helped things along. They also had a $ 6 biscuits and gravy special«because there’s a football game.»(Is this a tradition I don’t know about, or just a thing Stumptown does? Have I been missing out all my life?) The service setup was a little weird. They have signage to tell you what to do and where to go, and I was still a little confused even after the? server?(she seemed to be in charge of food, but didn’t take orders at the table), but everyone was super friendly and helpful. And yeah, this place is cash only, but the in-house ATM fee($ 2) seems to be lower than most standalone ATMs I’ve come across.
