We went back to Sage Bistro again last night. Again, I ordered the filet special. Again, it was the best filet I have ever had. My wife had the steak, which was also cooked exactly how she likes it. Sage Bistro can cook their meats to delicious perfection, there is no question about it. We also ordered the sampler to start, which was fantastic. We will definitely be back again in the future, with friends and/or family in tow.

Hands down best chicken kabob I have ever had… And I’ve had many! Wish I lived in the area because I would love to try their other dishes. Defintely a cute and cozy atmosphere as well. Not what you expect from a little spot in a strip mall!

One of my favorite places to eat dinner in the area. I have never had a bad meal here. The waiters have always friendly and the food is always delicious. I highly recommend stopping by and trying the menu.

This romantic date night spot is tucked away in a strip mall which is why I was so surprised by how good the meal was. The hostess podium is awkwardly placed midway into the restaurant, but once we were seated we were on the way to Mediterranean goodness. The warm pita bread served with hummus(drizzled with oil = legit) was excellent. The bread warm and soft. The hummus just enough garlic and salt, creamy chickpea goodness. I ordered the chicken kabob salad. The salad itself was wasn’t anything too exciting. I would have preferred the cucumber and tomato be chopped up smaller, for aesthetics and convenience. It was also served with a cucumber vinaigrette, except that it tasted like a tomatillo cilantro dressing which was ok but bitter for my taste and would have been much better with a tzatziki dressing or their homemade balsamic dressing which was excellent when I stole a couple bites of my husband’s salad. The chicken was excellent, though grilled on the skewer, it was juicy and bursting with flavor. The best chicken kabob I’ve had in the area! My husband ordered the Portuguese chicken and chorizo with a side of julienned vegetables which he loved. The chorizo was a little more sausage a little less chorizo by my standards but the chicken was juicy and tender. Service was ok, it seemed they were a little understaffed. Ambiance is romantic, dark, and intimate. Service was fast! We closed the meal with gelato which we couldn’t pass up after seeing all the options when we walked in. We ordered pumpkin and rocky road. Honestly it wasn’t as smooth and delicate and I would have liked. After reading all the rave reviews about this place I think we will give it another try sometime in the future because I’d like to try some of the other items on their menu.

Great meal dropped in without reservations on a Friday night. Service was excellent and food delicious. The lentil soup was out of this world as was the Portuguese chicken and seafood creole.

So bad it forced me to join Unilocal!Once you are served bread that was already served to someone else, you should be smart enough to leave. If they are re-serving used bread, what else are they doing??? Hmmmm…

Highly recommended, highly disappointing. Strike 1 — 8:00 reservation. Show up at 8:00 and the place is empty, yet they have to clear a table for us. Strike 2 — Served pita bread that had already been served to someone else. Napkin around bread had dried hummus on it and bread was scattered in basket. Strike 3 — Out of multiple beers on menu. Strike 4 — After calling an abort with a fake movie excuse, literally took 20 minutes to get check. Never again!!!

First time here and came due to the high praise in the reviews in Unilocal and elsewhere. I was not disappointed. Instead of the traditional bread and oil, they served hot toasted pita bread wedges with hummus! It was a welcomed change and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My friend had the sirloin steak, medium, and it was delicious. The caramelized onions on them were great. My Brother had the Absolute Chicken, and it was great. The vodka sauce was really good and the chicken was well cooked. As for me I had the Salmon Provencal and it was very well cooked, it was flakey and soft and was poured with this form of salsa and olives. I had the summer sangria and for the $ 8 or so that they were, it seemed like they were a little small in size for the dollar amount. Overall, very pleased with the meal and will come back again with my parents or other friends for a fancier dinner.

When my wife and I decided to go to Sage Bistro we were not sure what to expect. Well, I can’t tell you how impressed we were. You walk in and right in front of you is a big case of homemade frozen gelato. A LOT! Needless to say we took dessert home with us. AWESOME! The atmosphere is like New York City meets upstate. We sat in a booth towards the front. When we settled in, we realized that the place is very romantic. Busy, but still romantic. Our server Brandon, was as good as it gets. Very professional and he as well as his fellow servers really hustle. The staff was top notch. The food is prepared by the Chef-Owner, and it shows. Just when you walk in, and you smell the place, you know for sure that you are in for some serious food.O.K. now for the food review. My wife had the Absolute chicken with linguini and a house salad. She absolutely loved it(no pun intended).I had the shrimp and scallops capri. It was fantastic. I also had the Greek salad with falafel. WOW! Personally, I think this place has got some of the best food in the area. I know that this was our first time going, but you really can tell that this place is special. The décor, the staff, the food and the overall experience is some kind of wonderful. Remember, this restaurant is not huge, but your time there will be well worth it. Which by the way reminds me of something. The cost. We each had a premium cocktail, one house salad, one specialty salad with falafel, two entrees and two large gelatos to go. The price? $ 98.00. Yes, that isn’t a misprint. $ 98.00. We gave our server Brandon a little more than 20%. Why? He was worth it. I’m telling you, do you, your friends, family, or significant other a favor. Go to Sage Bistro and you will know what my wife and I now know. Sage Bistro is now one of our personal favorite places to go. We definitely will be going there on a regular basis as long as they are open. And believe me, they will be open for a long time. BRAVO– SAGEBISTRO, WELOVEYOU! 5STARS!!!

I love Sage Bistro! I took my mom on Wednesday for her birthday. House Wines on Wednesday are $ 4.00, we ordered Pinot Grigio. We both ordered the Salmon that was topped with crabmeat, with a side of rice and green beans. It’s comes with a huge house salad. Definitely get the cucumber dressing. Dinners include hummus and pita that melts in your mouth. The waitress could have used some more personality but the food was amazing! A definite bonus for Guilderland.

What a pleasant surprise. Sage Bistros strip mall dark exterior belies its delicious food. Yes, I had read the wonderful Unilocal reviews, but the place looked closed at 6:15pm on a Friday night. Lucky for us they were open and seated us immediately. Nice selection of beer, wines. Complimentary warm pita and hummus to start. All entrees include a house salad. Interesting mix of cuisines, our entrees included Mediterranean Chicken, Shrimp and Scallops Capri, and a special of grilled Skirt Steak in a mushroom cognac sauce. Everyone was extremely pleased with their choices, and I am not exaggerating that the cognac sauce was awesome! My only criticism would be to step up the degree of service a bit. We were asked if we would like pepper on our salads, and a servers hand came back to the table and dumped the pepper mill. The same treatment with the Parmesan cheese. It would be pleasing to take a moment to grind the pepper for the diner, or sprinkle the cheese. Also the accompanying frites were not delivered with the steak, nor were they missed, but then dropped on the table as we were scooping our last forkfuls of entrees without apology. We did not have room for dessert– they only offer gelatos-but the gelato case looked really good!

Awesome place! Small — reservations are recommended, but we were seated quickly without one. Portions are just right, and keep coming. Not one bad dish — service was attentive, food was hot and good. It is a little expensive, but worth it. Dinner for two, with drinks, an appetizer and desserts ran us about $ 100 We will be returning!

I absolutely LOVE Sage Bistro. It is hands-down my favorite restaurant in Guilderland — nay, in all of Albany. My husband and I have been here countless times for dinner as well as lunch, and we are never disappointed. The hummus and pita is exceptional. The cucumber vinaigrette is my favorite salad dressing in the entire world, and I wish they sold it by the bottle! I’ve had the clam linguine(now called linguine with cockles,) the steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus(with delicious bleu cheese dressing atop the steak — cooked to perfection,) the creamy chicken pesto over farfalle pasta. Last night I tried the Absolute Chicken(chicken over linguine in a vodka cream sauce with shallots and proscuitto — AMAZING!) For lunch, I’ve had many a panini, the falafel wrap, and my personal favorite — the Greek wrap, stuffed to the brim with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, feta, kalamata olives, and hummus). The lunch prices are a real deal, and the dinner prices are perfect for what you are served — you get pita and hummus, as well as a salad to start. Then you get a delicious, hot, flavorful meal(and quite a large portion, too!) It’s WELL worth the $ 20 – 30 per person. Just make sure you save enough room for the gelato! Check the case when you enter the restaurant to see which ones are new and nearly overflowing with goodness to ensure that you get the freshest flavors. I cannot say enough good things about Sage Bistro. I will come here again and again and again, and I know that I can expect consisently good food and service. 10 stars!!!

This place was cool. We went with a party of 10 people in celebration of my cousin’s graduation from UAlbany. All around very good food, no complaints. The mussels were awesome, the hummus/babaganush was great and my pasta dish was really delicious. I ate the spicy sausage, chicken and shrimp over linguini, it was really well done. We ordered the lobster mac n’ cheese to share for the table — it was SO rich and heavy. personally I loved it but a lot of people couldn’t handle how rich it was. It must’ve been a 3 pound caserole dish — dangerous to order for your entrée… great idea to split amongst a big table for sampling. We got a monster triple layer German chocolate cake for desert, custom made by the chef and it was incredible. I can’t comment on the standard desert menu because we didn’t try anything from there, but I imagine they’re great, just like this cake. I’d go back but chances are I’ll never again step foot in Guilderland, NY!
