Stopped in for coffee and Pie, better then I expected. The place is clean and service was good. Recommended for a quickie.

We love their pies for special occasions. We ordered a couple for Christmas, and picked them up at a location we haven’t used before. I was expecting a line, but walked in later on Christmas Eve and was delighted to see that I could walk right up to the counter with no waiting. While all the pies we’ve tried over the years have been good, the Candy Cane Pie is especially delicious, and one we consider a special treat at Christmas every year. We’d love to see it offered year-round!

Your typical bakers square restaurant. Sub-par service. The food was not the best quality or quantity. The pie was spot on though. The environment was not that clean or updated. This place could really use some renovations and colors.

Got the chicken cheddar bacon melt with fries, the fries were Luke warm but the seasoning was good. The melt itself was very good with a large chicken breast. Wasn’t much bacon on the melt but the couple slices that were on it were also like warm but were crispy.

The Bakers Square in Gurnee, IL is putting everyone who calls on hold today. So no one can check on their pie orders. The restaurant is not prepared to handle holiday orders.

The waiter was extremely rude to customers I came in to get 3 slices of pie there was a family in front plus another lady and she’s like how many people? The lady with the family was being courteous by saying oh she was first and the waiter was like no she is waiting for someone and was rude in her tone like how many then she helps me as I’m looking at the pies I picked two and needed the third slice guess she didn’t have the patience and said to me you don’t know what u want yet? Like I’m a child and just walks off without even telling me she had to leave that’s just pure rude and bad customer service and as paying for my pies she doesn’t even tell me thank you like really never encounter such a rude waiter at baker squares before she’s the first to make that clear. I called to talk to a supervisor and positive she picked up and she said its lunch rush hour can you call back? I believe her name was Amanda so watch out for this rude waiter

I’m not sure why people like their pies so much… we got their French Silk, Southern Pecan and lemon meringue. The pecan and meringue pie filling is very gloppy. Reminds me of Jell-o mixture. Or snot… I’m not sure if it was a bad batch but it was not very good… MArianos have better pecan pie!

Went here for dinner last night, the service was good, the food is good depending on what you get. Breakfast at Baker Square is good, some dinner items are good, the pies are very good, but many of the dinner items like the hamburgers and sandwiches are lacking flavor and good texture. The worst part about Baker’s Square is the atmosphere, it is fine during the day, but at night it is way too bright inside. They need to turn down the lights, and mellow the place out. Overall Baker’s Square is an average restaurant; good for breakfast and lunch, okay for dinner.

We are traveling and stopped here because it was convenient to our hotel. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. This is a typical breakfast/dinner placesimilar to Denny’s or Marie calendars in that they also have a large variety of pie. It was just OK. It will do if your hungry but it was just OK. The pie looks really good though.

It’s my Birthday! Needed breakfast and coffee terribly before our trip to Chicago! I remembered the Californian frittata that I had last summer that was delicious, here at Boston Market. My fiancé wanted lunch, I breakfast, so we came back here. I got the 4 square meal and ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, hasbrowns and a biscuit with gravy. Added a side of toast for 1 $. Eggs were so good and the toast is my favorite out of every place I’ve ever been too. My fiancé ordered the honey mustard pita melt. Fantastic. Shaved ham, tender and so good! Turkey was moist and perfect. Very good meal. We also ordered coffee(which was excellent) and a blueberry lemonade YUMM!!! I got my slice of pie for free for My birthday and another slice for my love. We took them to go, very convenient! Bathrooms very clean, the Resturant floor was clean and very spacious. Our waitress friendly and helpful. Over all, a wonderful start to my birthday and highly recommended. Its my opinion that this restaurants breakfast blew Wildberry Café and Egg Harbor out of the water in taste and price. Was also a better alternative then a quick meal at a local dinner, in taste and price. We loved it.

First, we had a twenty minute wait when we could clearly see several open tables. Service wasn’t that great. Took awhile to be waited on, and then after we got our food, the waitress only stopped by once after to check on us. We sat there for awhile before we got our check. The food wasn’t anything special either. I got some strips of bacon that were cold when they got to me. Probably wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here again.

Extremely disappointed… Slow inattentive service and mediocre food. We went here on a slow night(70% of tables empty) and ended up at 90 minutes plus for a table of three. At no point were our drinks refilled and the waiter took 15 minutes to bring catsup for my sons fries. We will never be back

As if it is not bad enough to have to wait in line. Waiting in line with multiple open tables because they didn’t staff their kitchen properly? Ridicules! If you can’t staff your kitchen properly, do something for the guests waiting forever to sit at one of your many open tabkes.

This review is specific to their pies because that is the only thing I have ordered. I get pie here once a year and it is fantastic! I did peak at the menu while I was waiting and it’s not my type of menu.

I’ve been here more than a handful of times over the six years I lived in Gurnee. It’s changed a lot. There was a major remodel and a new menu was introduced, but overall, the verdict is the same. It is a typical American diner with typical food which will not impress nor disgust. It used to be a smoking restaurant so some people who are sensitive will notice the musty, old cigarette smell. The service is usually fine, although there have been a few times where the server just goes missing in action for half hours at a time. The pie is good. The prices are average. Considering that there are many places to eat in the area for the same price or less for better quality, I would recommend you shy away from Baker’s Square in favor of almost anywhere else.

I felt like I was eating a plate of sadness. The first time we went here — everything went pretty well. Childhood nostalgia immediately took over and I thought it was the bees knees. Then we came back, coupon in hand, and the reality of this place was more apparent with the nostalgia worn off. The server was pleasant but everything else was blah and meh. In a pinch I might come back but there are plenty of other offerings nearby that I’ll be checking out in the future.

Always great american food and the best pies at every bakers square. I usually go for the pies. If you are into chocolate, then French Silk Pie is the favorite! The service is ok since I always see them short staff every time I eat there. The food is consistent every time with good flavors and taste on most of their entrees. The prices are great for the food you get. Reasonable prices on a budget type here. I keep coming back for the tasty good food prices and great tasting pies!

Bakers Square locations are few and far between in my neck of the woods. Whenever we find ourselves at Gurnee Mills, we often find ourselves dining at Baker’s Square. The food is decent and I just love their lemon meringue pie. However, this last visit left something to be desired. The food was disappointing(the fries were almost cold and my flatbread that I expected to be warm, was actually cold(I ordered it without the melted cheese — but didn’t realize that would also prevent my sandwich from going thru whatever process would MELT the cheese, and even my pie wasn’t as amazing as it normally is). Overall, left there feeling sad and not at all anxious to return. Even for pie.
