Amazing local café. Very homey and cute. Very very reasonably priced. Cozy home style cooking type place. We received excellent service from Alejandra. There is an awesome view while you eat of the local stream flowing. Yummy yummy food. Definitely go check this place out. Great for breakfast lunch or brunch. I just stopped here driving through on the highway and very glad I did.

Has promise, but needs work. I really wanted to like this place and to have a good place for breakfast nearby. The restaurant is in a cool old house on the river. It looks clean. Unfortunately, there was nobody checking the entrance for people waiting to be seated. The menu has a lot of criminal references to add humor to the fact that they hire and house ex-​cons– which is cool… IF they can cook. The food took a long time and was poorly cooked. The chicken fried steak was rubbery and had the taste of old and dirty fryer oil. The hash browns (which were requested crispy) were not brown at all and had a chewy texture. The service was inconsistent– the waitress disappeared for 20 minutes. They weren’t busy at all on a Sunday– now we know why. I hope they improve with time. I didn’t see a manager and it may be that lack of supervision lended to the poor overall experience.

What a wonderful jewel of a place. A friend of my husband’s took us here for lunch while we were on a cross-​country trip with this honeymoon stop in Colorado. We also had our Aussie with us and the restaurant was more than accommodating, seating us on the back deck. The view was amazing and the servers were equally laid-​back and relaxed. Not inattentive at all, and very cool and good natured folk. The food was good patty melts, blt’s and fries and iced teas… and a whole plate of bacon for Blue! I’m sure this is his new favorite place. I researched The Rittenhouse and it seems they are community driven and concerned with at risk youth and support recovery programs. What great place. will definitely return on another trip.

Extremely cute environment, friendly atmosphere, fabulous food and coffee. A must stop if you are in the area. I will definitely be stopping every time I am in the area. Not only is everything fantastic it’s affordable and it makes it much for fun to leave a large tip! Thank you for this little gem in the mountains!

I loved The Rittenhouse! The food was great! It was really tough to pick just one entrée. The staff was extremely friendly, couldn’t do enough for us. The owners took the time to visit with us at our table and answered all of our questions about their business. Our waitress was very attentive, friendly and fun to be around. It was clean, relaxing and enjoyable.

Where to start, the food is the best I have had in Colorado. Breakfast was amazing! The coffee is to die for! best espressos I’ve had since I visited Italy. The wait staff is awesome! All super friendly and even with a minor hick up in our confusing order they fixed it right away. Pricing is good, especially for the area. I can’t wait to eat there again!

Excellent breakfast! We had a group of 6 military guys… and we can ALL eat! Wait staff was very attentive and courteous. Right off the bat they were warm and got to know us. They made suggestions for our breakfast and we took them… did not regret (see pictures). The views on the porch were calm and relaxing, very comfortable.
And the prices… they are very appreciative of military and it showed. We have been here for one week and have eaten breakfast and a new restaurant each day… We all agreed that we wished we would have found this gem on day one! The price for our meals were half the price of any other establishment in the surrounding two towns.
Give this place a chance and you will not regret it.
