Hands down one of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve had. I always come here when I’m in the area because normally, I’m not a fan of Chinese food, but the food is so good here that I can’t resist. All of their dough dishes, like the pancakes, dumplings and noodles, are really good. I like coming here with my family so I can order a lot of different things and get to eat a little of everything. They also have a lot of entrée dishes that are delicious. I consistently order the green onion pancakes, pork potstickers, kung pao chicken, and house chicken. They’re known for their house chicken, which is served cold over a layer of cucumbers with a light garlic sauce. It is so refreshing, especially for a hot SoCal afternoon. The chicken is tender and juicy and the cucumbers contrast it very well with a nice crunch. The green onion pancake is SO good. It’s fresh and has a nice crisp layer on the outside. My favorite potstickers are these; they’re a little different than gyoza in that the dough is thicker and much bigger in size. Despite that, they’re still really crispy and upon the first bite, the soup oozes out, and there is just a burst of flavor. Their kung pao chicken is really delicious too and goes really well with rice and has a nice kick to it. Definitely come here if you want some quality Chinese food and if you’re in the area!

Yes, the green onion pancake, the pork dumplings and the hot and sour soup were exactly what we needed and satisfied our need for tasty yet affordable Chinese food. I highly recommend, although it’s cash only. Service was hardly there and I saw a waitress chasing out a customer who did not pay the tip and just left. Overheard the conversation and it sounds like the customer was not happy with the service and decided not to tip and the waitress must not have understood that he did not want to tip because of bad service.

Everything was decent here. I especially recommend their green onion pancake and house special chicken. The house special chicken came with fresh cucumbers, and the sauce was sweet and savory. The price is reasonable and the portion was huge. It may be better to share with other people. Cash only here, so don’t forget to prepare enough cash.

One of my favorite Chinese Restaurants so far. Pros: The food is pretty damn decent. Most Chinese places end up tasting the same or similar after you’ve been to enough of them, but this one stood out among most of them. Prices are decent and the serving sizes are pretty good too! Waitresses were really nice and attentive to our needs. Plenty of options to choose from. The green onion pancakes are really good! Tried several dishes from where along with that like the mushroom beef and some other chicken dishes and none of them disappointed. Cons: Cash only. At times there may be a long wait. Didn’t really like the chicken burrito things, but my friend ordered that. Parking can be a hassle depending on the time that you arrive at. Bottom line: The waitresses were so nice! We even got free rice lol. Will definitely come again when I’m craving Chinese food

Actually, it’s 3.5 stars. I was excited to try their house chicken and green onion pancake, their signature dishes. While we enjoyed our meals, it didn’t meet my expectations of the perfect pancake. It was not flaky. The chicken reminded me of Chinese crispy chicken with a sauce, which was a bit too salty for me. I would ask for the sauce on the side if we should order this again. It was a 40 mile drive for us. The black mushrooms with baby bok choy was acceptable, nothing special. Service was good, the place was clean. I would come back to order other dishes.

I’ve been coming here for years & the food is always delicious. I would recommend their famous house chicken, hot and sour soup, and pot stickers! The portions are huge so make sure to ask the server if the portion you are ordering is too much! This restaurant is ideal for Chinese family style and great for family gatherings or group gatherings. Service is always very attentive! Keep in mind they close on Tuesdays since it’s their rest day! && they are cash only! But not to worry there’s a BOFA in the same plaza.

Plenty of parking available. Atmosphere is bright, clean, and casual. Service is attentive. Everything was tasty and well portioned, but nothing too stunning. Got the soy bean noodles(4⁄5), pan fried dumplings(4⁄5), onion pancakes(4⁄5), and house special chicken(3.5÷5). Chicken was a little dry. Honest cooking, and i would return! Cash only.

In full transparency — I have never been to Earthen Restaurant. I work in Ktown with the daughter of the owners and she brings this AMAZING food to our office on a regular basis. I’m so lucky! I just finished my Onion Pancake and Hot & Sour Soup for breakfast. Such quality food. I don’t claim to be an expert on Chinese food but this really is the best I have ever had. I live 55 miles from this restaurant but will be taking my family there regardless this weekend. Highly recommend.

I like Asian food so I came here with a few friends and it was decent! The prices were good and I ordered soy bean noodle. I liked the sauce more than the other Asian restaurants I’ve tried in the past but it was strangely slimy. Too slimy for my liking! I also had the green onion pancake and it was pretty good too for a good price. I recommend this place but maybe not the soy bean noodle unless you’re a fan of it such as myself.

I have been coming to this place for years and the food quality never disappoints! The service however is a hit or miss depending on how well you speak the language. The best dishes to get here is the house marinated chicken, zha jian mien, and the green onion pancakes. The price to portion is on the generous side and all dishes are family style. Definitely a place you want to drop by if you are in the area.

Earthen restaurant had been around forever, like a guardian of this shopping plaza. Besides tokyo lobby, I’m not sure of any other restaurant in the plaza had hung around as long as this place has. Earthen had a reputation for delivering solid interpretations of Chinese food of all styles, and on this mark they do not disappoint. The star of their show is their starch department. From the texture of their dumpling wraps to their green onion pancakes, this spot is on point with their Gluten game. I really like their dumplings, either fish or pork works.(They also sell frozen dumplings in bags of 50 to-go) This place is also known for their chicken and various noodle dishes, as other people have noted. All this great food, over periods of time, means it can usually get crowded here, especially lunch special time. A true sign of the health of this restaurant is the ethnic make up of their clientele as Asian people aren’t the only ones you’ll see in this establishment. A sign like this suggests that Earthen has made its mark as a vital component to the neighborhood, playing it’s role in delivering good eats to the community it serves.

Simple, well-presented food, tasty and reasonable price. Came on Lunar Chinese New Year first day and phew, no long line, just walk in and got seated immediately. Black Mushrooms with Vegetables ~ Black mushrooms is well-cooked, soft and juicy. Love the gravy, was flavorful. Vegetables was very crunchy. Love this dish! Abalone Soup ~ Nice and simple, clear soup base, with enoki mushrooms, carrots and lots of chunks of abalones(I’m sure it’s not real abalones due to the generous amount of abalones given in the soup. Should be made of mushrooms look-a-like abalone). Abalone is tender and sweet. Shredded Potato ~ Interesting dish. My first time trying out stir-fried shredded potato. Potato has a good crunch and not too greasy. Onion Pancake ~ Huge portion of pancakes, good for sharing. Not too greasy and has a nice crispy bite to it

Earthen Restaurant is a Shandong(Northeast province) specialist that serves simple down-to-earth comfort Chinese food. The menu has a variety of noodles, meat, rice dishes, and dumplings. Every table must have one order of Green Onion pancakes. If you’re in the mood for something pan-fried and delicious, I would totally recommend getting it. The dish that was suggested to us was the House chicken, which is boiled, then deep-fried and served room-temperature in a wonderful dressing of black vinegar, chili and soy sauce. Diced cucumbers are tucked in underneath for texture and it’s all topped with a heap of cilantro and scallions.

Drool… I can smell something good cooking inside! My friend Nadine and I were looking for some place to go for lunch and decided to give this place a shot. All I’m going to say is order the onion pancakes, they will blow your mind! They are served hot, fresh, and cooked to perfection. They were so crispy and delicious, I could eat them until I was sick. In fact, I was still thinking about them days later. Hands down, the best I ever had! You get a huge portion for only $ 3.50, what a deal! Lucky for us they had great lunch specials for around $ 6 – 7 dollars. I ordered the chicken and vegetable dish off their lunch menu. The chicken was so tender and juicy, while the vegetables were seasoned just right. Is healthy food suppose to taste that good? My only disappointment was that they didn’t have brown rice. However, those onion pancakes made up for any complaints I had. They also serve complimentary tea. This place is a small restaurant located in a strip mall so you will find plenty of parking. Service was exceptional and prices are reasonable. The only negative was it’s cash only! Good thing I was rolling in the dough that day!

If you’re craving some decent Chinese food, then I definitely recommend this place! The place is somewhat spacious, but can get pretty packed during rush hour! I’ve tried their green onion pancakes, black bean noodles(jajangmyun), special House chicken, and a veggie plate. The pancakes are crispy and out of this world! A definite must try! The jajangmyun is good, but not super spectacular. The special chicken is pretty delicious and a small size is enough to feed 2+ people. The veggie plate was also delicious, but hey veggies are always good right? Cash only! Parking is easy since the parking lot is huge. Service is decent, but don’t expect 5 star service though. This place can be pretty busy.

LOOOOOOVEEEEETHISPLACE. Don’t live near here at all but I’ll always make the trek here once a month for their green onion pancake and hot and sour soup. [+1] The green onion pancake is lightly crispy and flaky. Most green onion pancakes are thicker and are more chewy than Earthen. Earthen makes theirs almost delicate but so fun to eat and lightly salted together. The pancake is just so savory and flaky you can’t help but keep eating. I would eat like three plates if I could! When ordering my eyes are sometimes larger than my tummy! The lady always tells us to watch out how much stuff we order because she thinks we order too much hahah! [+1] The hot and sour soup is just the right amount of spicy and sour. Can’t get enough of it. The flavors go so well together with the tofu, mushroom, etc. my mouth is watering just thinking about it! [+1] We never change up what we order. Always the same. Always the same good food. Always the same fast service. [+2] Always the same quality. Super consistent. Love it. I loooooove consistency! [-1] Wish it wasn’t cash only though! Please!

Driving to this area is a bit far for me but in and out of this restaurant only took about 30 minutes. Many locals seemed to know what to get already so as soon as they are seated, they are already eating! Most likely during Sunday late linch time, most people ordered Green onion pancake, House special chicken, fried rice or chowmein, and dumplings. Their House special chicken small size is pretty big, enough for 3 people to share. It is served cold over fresh cucumber bed drizzled with sesame seed oil and soy sauce. Eating cold chicken can be scary and challenging, but with the fresh cucumbers, it is a nice cold chicken salad. I wish there’s some kick, like wasabi… ;) Fish dumpling is served steamed, I actually dipped it in the house special chicken sauce, and they went pretty well together. The fish filling is not fresh or juicy enough, and wonton skin is a bit too thick and doughy, but it is not bad overall. Kung pao beef must be my worst choice, it is super greasy, the beef meet pieces are too slimy and jelly, and too small. Mostly peanuts and crushed peppers are the main ingredients. Combo fried rice is also pretty oily, but the rice is fried perfectly. Big shrimps, beef pieces, egg, and chicken pieces over the rice. The portion is huge. Though it is pretty greasy, the oil is clean. Service is super quick, attentive, no wait between 2~4 pm on Sundays, this must be my Chinese in and out late lunch spot.

I was going to be in the area, so I Unilocaled a spot for dinner. After looking at pictures of their house chicken, I was sold. We got there pretty late, so we ordered quickly and scarfed down our food. The house chicken reminded me of Peking duck. The flavors were similar, except it was chicken. I really liked the bed of cucumbers it was served on. So you don’t even need rice to eat with it. I also had their green onion pancake, which was one of the best I’ve ever had. Yes, it’s oily, but what do you expect for a fried piece of dough. The portion was perfect for two to share and the prices are affordable!
