This place was the best. Me and my family would go here every week and were never disappointed. From the staff to the great food and atmosphere, everything was A+! Hopefully they reopen soon!

It sucks that this place is closed because they had great great food and was reasonably priced. It was such a great place!

Sadly, they closed due to a large fire in the building. They’re looking for a new place to re-open as soon as possible!

Burned to the ground! We will miss it and hopefully they find a new home. The owner Pablo was always a great host to us and our friends and I can’t say enough about the great food and times we all have shared at this establishment.

We were in the mood for a big ol’ hunk of red meat, so the logical choice would be an Argentinian/Brazillian BBQ place. Thankfully, Choripan Rodizio fulfilled all of our hunk of meat needs with a hot beef injection of dead animals to die for.(Okay, I’ll stop) But for real, wonderful wonderful amazing food. Got the $ 30 all-you-can-eat option and I could not eat all of it. Ten different types of meat and it only got better and better. To be honest, the biggest stand outs here were the spicy chicken and the bacon wrapped turkey. MMMMMMMHM. Still dreaming about it. I sort of wish they had come out first because after eating 6 types of steak it got much harder to then switch to chicken but look, I’m not complaining as much as I’m bemoaning the size of my stomach. Really wonderful and personable service here too. The guy who brought the meat around was super friendly and knowledgeable. All in all, a well priced wonderful dining experience that just totally hit the spot. Who knew Hackensack had so much to offer? Not this girl, because I’m a snooty New Yorker B-)

I studied in Argentina in 1999& this is the most authentic Argentinean restaurant I’ve eaten in outside Argentina. The choripan sandwich was amazing and I still dream about it. Next time I want to try the mixed grill it looked and smelled delicious. When we go to NJ next time to see my in laws, we have to go back. You have to try this restaurant.

My review is about the experience, not the food. The food is decent although very salty. Oh, a huge by the way! This is not real Rodizio! No prime rib, or fillet mignon no. They give you overly salted cheaper cuts to get by. It’s also a million degrees in the place, and getting ice is a luxury. I purchased 3 certificates for Choripan back in October knowing that we would go back there again. We invited some friends to dinner and were planning on using one of the $ 50 certificates. When we arrived, they had a sign on the door«NOMORE CERTIFICATES». We then asked our waiter if we can use our certificate and he said and I quote«too many people bought them so we don’t allow them anymore, can’t do anything about it». We argued that we bought them months ago and he said«I don’t know, sorry» So that was disappointing to say the least. We all ordered the Rodizio which comes with two sides for each person. We asked them to bring six different sides and he said«the table is not big enough, I’ll bring you over a few» Wait, what? We will never go back there due to the clear and blatant disregard for customers and the terrible customer service. I highly recommend you go to Casual Habana Café instead. Better food and service

Awesome Argentinian spot, the parillada here is absolutely divine. It’s also BYOB, which is always a good thing! Great place for lunch/dinner with friends and family.

I have been to Choripan before on several occasions and it never disappointed me. So I went there on Sunday night because my wife had an Argentine BBQ craving. I wasn’t really into having meat, but once I entered the place and got a whiff of that heavily asado. I got hungry for meat really fast. We got the parrillada for 2($ 40) which had entran~a, tira de asado, chinchulines, chorizo, morcilla and chicken breast(pechuga). I missed the molleja(MYFAV) which for some reason no butcher has anymore, did they change a law or something? It came with 2 sides. a simple salad and hand cut fries. Also the chimmichurri was vibrant and fresh and wasnt overpowered by garlic. The Berro and tomato salad was great. The vinaigrette was french style with some garlic in it. For dessert the flan which comes with a dollop of dulce de leche. If you are in the mood for Argentinean style asado. This is the place. Plus since the place was BYOB The bill was quite reasonable and I left a nice tip(18%) because the service was very attentive, kind and considerate. Definitely will go back.

Took my family to dinner for my aunt’s birthday and had a wonderful time. First of all this restaurant is BYOB! Yay! The space is a little tight especially considering we had a party of 7 but it is a wonderful, cozy atmosphere and the service is professional, friendly, and fun. When I was ordering, the owner was very concerned for me because I expressed that I could not eat anything too tough or chewy as I had just gotten oral surgery. I was about to settle for a soup when he suggested the Canalones a la Rossini. Both the pasta and the filling were amazing. My aunts and uncles all got the all-you-can-eat RODIZIO! All the meats were delicious and the ribs were cooked to perfection, tender enough for me to eat. My grandparents got the Parillada Mixta Para Dos, and the meats came out on a tiny little tabletop charcoal grill! After our meal we ordered cheesecake and TWO flans because they were so good. Everything was absolutely delicious and I would recommend this place for any occasion.

There is a buzz about this place so I made a stop for dinner. Brought own bottle of wine and order the mixed grill. The price is excellent and the mixed grill had a good selection of sausage, blood sausage, skirt, sweet bread, tripe, etc. There may have been other items but I can’t remember it. The tripe was slightly gamey but not unpleasantly. The blood sausage was my favorite. It was properly dark and flavorful. I’ve never had skirt steak I didn’t love and the other items were good. Service was on point. The TV was showing Argentinian soccer and there was a nice, friendly vibe to the space. I would suggest going here on a week night as it get very busy and loud on the weekends. Nice addition to Hackensack which might be inching towards gentrification? Crazier things have happened. If you have insider info, please PM me.

Cute cozy place. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. I noticed this place is Byob. Although I didn’t have the rodizio experience.(I got the salmon) my friends definitely enjoyed this place. They brought out about 10 different types of meat and for the price of $ 30… Cheaper than most rodizios I’ve been to. For dessert we did order the dulce de leche crêpe. It was a bit too sweet for my liking. We went on a Wednesday night and they had a decent crowd.

I’m a big fan of this place! Unfortunately, there’s no way I could do all you can eat rodizio($ 30 per person) very often. but it’s the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. Make sure to place a reservation if you’re going after 6 or 7pm on the weekend and to bring your own booze, it’s a byob! Onto the food: it’s phenomenal. Instead of an all out binge-fest, the meats are prepared and delivered to your table in a slow progression. Our group was here for almost 2 hours, and we enjoyed every minute. The servers are great and will take notice if someone particularly enjoys a certain cut of meat or prefers the steak rare, etc. My personal favorites included all the steak options and the turkey wrapped in bacon since it was a little something different. While everything was good, I could have passed on the duck and the sausage. Other items included chicken teriyaki, chicken wings and pork ribs. Something I didn’t know is that the sides are also all you can eat, so I suggest that each member of your party gets something different. Then you can share and try everything! I enjoyed the rice/beans and the potato salad but my favorite was the house salad– the house dressing was very good and it was refreshing to have some nice cold veggies in between all the meat! It might be the only reason we made it through every course! As for dessert, we accidentally ordered something covered in nuts(even though we had two people with allergies in our party) so I’d just make sure you’re careful when placing your order. It wasn’t our server’s fault because we didn’t mention the allergies– but just make sure you get a clear description of the dessert first. I would definitely return here!

My tummy was very satisfied after leaving Choripan! My friend and I both came here and had the Parrillada Mixta and I must say their meat was very well seasoned. The rice was cooked to my liking as well. After my friend and I finished, we still had enough leftover for my lunch the next day. And the leftover tasted just as good the next day!

Ahhh yes, Saturday night, I have a flat tire, and thankfully its a run-flat tire. No air in the run-flat tire means limited speed and range so I needed a local place to eat; I turned to Unilocal for guidance in finding somewhere new and I decided on Choripan Rodizio. 4.5 stars with ~120 reviews would indicate a pretty good chance of a successful dinner, right? Wrong. I was seriously beyond disappointed in my experience here; let’s start with our arrival. Understandably, it was a Saturday night and this place is apparently popular, so it was packed. When we walked in we were told there would be a 15 – 20 minute wait, fair enough, no problem! Well, actually, there was a problem with the wait; in the waiting area there are only two seats for you to wait, one chair, and one high-chair for babies to sit in(or you can go outside in the cold and huddle together like Emperor Penguins for warmth). I perched myself uncomfortably atop the high chair using it as a stool. There were also several tables right next to the entry where the crowds of standing people wait for their tables. If you’re unlucky enough to sit in one of those, prepare to be introduced to the ass of several strangers in your face while you eat. Fun. The Food: So we sat down, Confident in my entrée choice based on the previous reviews we decided to go straight for the skirt steak. The highly-Yelp-recommended skirt steak was good, just good, nothing special here and the chimichurri sauce was VERY oily. Let’s talk about our side dishes, mashed potatoes and sweet potato fries. The mashed potatoes were standard, overly creamed and lacking in flavor. The fries, however, were something very special(in a horrible way). I love sweet potato fries; what I received was inedible. I bit into a fry and found it to be the texture of beef jerky. I literally started to gnaw at it like a rat(as a joke) put it back in its bowl where it came from, some poor dog probably choked on them and died later that night. I did not eat ANY fries and I had a few bites of the bland potatoes. I finished most of my steak, and my girlfriend ate about one third and voiced her dissatisfaction. She left 2⁄3 of her steak behind and did not even want to take it to go. I hate wasting food!!! The Atmosphere: It Sucked. It was VERY loud. As Forrest Gump would say: «…And that is all I have to say about that».(whenever i try to describe the group that ruined dinner for everyone, Unilocal decides its a «Personal Attack» and deletes my review). Hypothetically, can you imagine a Macaw Parrot squawking directly into your ear? Can you imagine it happening while you eat? That would suck; it would surely disturb the dining experience for everyone. Did you know some ‘people’ can sound like a parrot screaming in the jungle? It’s a good thing parrots are not permitted in restaurants! If there WAS a parrot in a restaurant screaming every 60 seconds I am sure most owners would do somthing about it.
Summary and TLDNR version: Unfortunately, the impossibly negative experience with the atmosphere combined with the average-at-BEST food forces me to leave Choripan Rodizio a one star review. Once-upon-a-time, I suppose this place was good, however those times have come and gone. Before spending your money take the time to read the other negative reviews from Chris L, Berge M, Santo A.etc. — Don’t jump on the bandwagon! I will never be back!

Pretty good place to go, especially if you are in the mood to eat meat. My coworker and I split the mixed meats combo for two and there was so much meat. We were inundated with meat. The mixed meats included skirt steak, short ribs, chicken, sausage, blood sausage, fried intestines and fried sweet breads. Just and FYI for those of you who are not as adventurous. Flavor wise the food was seasoned very well. And it seems like they grill using charcoal. Overall the place is pretty good, would recommend!

I am not the type of person to write reviews but this place is stellar that it deserved one! The atmosphere is great and the staff is quick and friendly. We had the rodizio and it was phenomenal. I have never had such a great selection of meat. The seasoning and the taste is to die for. I will definitely be coming back again!

*fried calamari(so good! The calamari was perfectly cooked and super tender. Nicely breaded and not overly breaded either so you can actually taste the squid. Not salty which was highly appreciated) *Parrillada Mixta(Costilla de Res, de Cerdo, Entrana(Churrasco), Vacio, Chorizo, Morcilla, Molleja Y Chinchulines(Beef and Pork Ribs, Outside Skirt Steak, Flap, Sausage, Blood Sausage, Gizzard and Beef Intestines): the meats were cooked well and I loved that it was served on a grill at the table; the blood sausage was super pugent with sage; the intestines were probably the weirdest tasting and I did not like the texture; short ribs were great but I just wish they had more meat on them) *seafood mix with rice(Shrimp, Squid, Clams and Mussels Safron Rice; this rice was delicious!!! there was so much seafood in it, I honestly felt like there was more scallops than rice haha. the mussels and clams were tender. the rice was fluffy and nicely flavored. the portion size was huge and totally worth the money) *potato salad(loved it!!! the potato was soft and powdery, it was so simply dressed yet so perfect! not tainted with anything fancy, just clean and simple) *rice and beans(basic and nothing special, the beans could be softer and have more flavor to it) *fries(omg, so good albeit on the oily side; I wish I could have sprinkled malt vinegar on them to be like boardwalk fries) This place is cute and cozy. Service is amazing and they’re very accommodating. I would go back here and try their sandwiches and pizzas.

Came here for a late dinner with no reservations, but we were seated quickly. This was our first time having Argentinian food, but our friendly server explained the menu clearly. We had the mixed meat platter for 2, which comes with 2 sides of our choice. The sides were okay, the sweet potato fries were not particularly special and the house salad(lettuce and tomatoes) was doused with dressing. Our main course, on the other hand, oh boy! The mixed meat platter arrived on a small portable platter, and you can smell the deliciousness as it comes towards you. There were blood sausages, another type of sausages, grilled chicken, ribs, loins, skirt steak, tripe, and probably some other meat that I forgot. They were all grilled perfectly, and the meat was tender and juicy. The portion was so generous that we had another meal to take home.
