This is a small little hole in the wall pumping out some really good middle eastern cuisine. The platters are great, you get your main meal, side salad, and hummus. The hummus was on par, creamy, and seasoned the way I like it. The kebabs are great, the meat is tender, well seasoned, and the chicken is not over cooked and charred perfectly. They serve a side of this butter, garlic I think, that ties everything together, and I could bathe in.

This place is a no fuss no muss joint close to Hackensack Hospital. I had the hummus and the Shwarma. Everything is fresh and cooked to order. Food was good and authentic. The place is small and not a great place to eat. Call ahead if you want to avoid a wait.

I like falafel. I was excited when I discovered this place not far from me. The food has been consistently delicious. The falafel is outstanding. Crunchy on the outside and pure perfection on the inside. Finally, no more dry falafel. The staff is very friendly. My only complaint is the parking situation. Highly recommended!

Went with a friend visiting from out of town, and was not disappointed. Generous portions too. We got a combination platter for two. Plenty of food for us both, and even took another meal’s worth home. The chicken was delicious, and the humus was so smooth and flavorful! The baklava may be the best I’ve had. Parking is difficult, but worth the small walk from nearby street parking. Will definitely be going back again!

I’m giving this a 3 right now. I’ve been here twice in two weeks. The first time I had the shish tawook. To die for. Chicken was tender and juicy. The hummus was so dellish and the garlic side for the chicken was perfect. The yellow rice side they give is definitely a box or mix of some sort. it shouldn’t be on the same plate with all this goodness. Pita warmed and toasty. The people who work there are very nice. My 2nd visit was takeout after work. I couldn’t wait. Told them to keep rice and give me the taboullie. I’ll pay difference. I was ready for my meal at home when to my dismay the chicken was extra hard on the outside and uncooked in the middle. a couple mouthfuls of hard to chew gross chicken and I was done! The taboullie was OK. maybe I was already turned off and didn’t care. I’m not sure I’d go again. probably not… but if you go I hope you have my first experience. Maybe and hopefully the second was just a fluke! PS…the falafel is exceptional.

Hummus is great here! :) the falafel was delightful as well. I ordered the Shish Tawook platter, it was delicious. This is a nice spot with good food, good service and affordable prices. Definitely coming back soon.

Not as great as before. The rice is not as good as before. The quantity also reduced a lot. The price is stepping way too high and fast. But the taste still as good as before though.

Totally cool Falafel place. The falafel sandwiches are crunchy, flavorful and very filling. Salads are good too. Easy ordering; low prices; amazing fare — what’s not to love?

I must say, the falafel that they make is extremely extraordinary. Crunchy from outside, thick and full from inside and really well cooked. Also the shawerma is really tasty and light, you don’t get the fat and oil that you usually get at other places. This place is AMAZING with good taste!

We were recommended this spot from a friend who loves halal meats! I trusted her judgement so we decided to stop here on MLK day since I did not want to cook! I was hoping to sit inside and have a nice meal with the hubs instead of doing our usual, taking food to go and bringing it back home and watching something on TV while chowing down. Well don’t expect that here! Very small place, they do have a seating area but it’s covered with a plastic roof so it was very chilly and there was no way I could enjoy my food while shivering. I ordered the shish tawook platter, which comes with salad, rice, and hummus. I got only salad no rice. My husband got the chicken schwarma(gyro). My chicken was not tender or juicy at all, but his was REALLY good. If you go here I highly recommend the chicken gyro meat. The hummus was good here too but the salad… it was welted and a bit old? It tasted fine, don’t get me wrong, but it just was not fresh lettuce or cucumbers. For the price+quality, we paid about $ 25 for 2 platters, this place is not worth it to me. Maybe I came on an off day? If I came here again I would get a chicken gyro sandwich. Additionally, their sauces aren’t anything special. The red sauce is a vinegar based, almost like frank’s hot sauce and it’s not spicy at all. They have the garlic sauce which was good but they gave about 1 teaspoon for 2 big platters.

We eat a falafel sandwich and chicken shwarma sandwich. The falafel balls were nice but the let down was the pita. The size of the sandwich was also nice. Overall not happy though

Place was decent. Went close to closing so maybe food wasn’t as good as it could have been. They were out of the chicken shawarma so I ordered the other chicken sandwich. I forgot what it was called. It was good, nothing too special. My fiancé ordered the falafel, it was pretty well seasoned but the texture and consistency wasn’t as good as I have before even in that area. I may give it another shot next time I’m in the area.

There’s only 4 tables to sit at which are basically outside, but when its nice out – this is awesome. The falafel was good(the falafel sandwhich), it was large & packed with about 4 big falafel balls and plenty of veggies. I was not pleased with the lentil soup. it was watery and the flavor was disgusting. I couldnt even finish it. Mazza Falafel has great servers who were polite and very helpful, after making a remark that i would not take the rest of the soup because i was not a fan of it – it was taken off my bill. I was not aiming to do this, i was just stating it just wasnt tasty and you can tell by the amount i left in my cup. The service was great & quick and altho the menu is simple – its right to the point and served quickly.

I have been on the hunt for really great authentic falafel and have had this spot bookmarked on Unilocal for quite some time now, so I decided last night was the night to try out Mazza Falafel. We drove to Hackensack and easily found this location. They have very limited parking in the rear lot around the corner as others have said so plan accordingly. The store itself is very small but it produces some of the best falafel I have ever eaten along with flavorful Mediterranean cuisine. I ordered the hot falafel appetizer which comes with 8 piping hot fresh made to order falafel and grilled pita bread. The texture of the outside was crunchy and had a semi soft middle that was jam packed with flavor of garlic parsley and chickpeas. I opted out the tahini sauce for their white sauce(Taziki like). My friend ordered the chicken shwarma with rice and added Arabic salad to it. She said it was out of this world! And FYI there is only one table inside but there is a small seating area out front that is enclosed but its too cold to sit in there this time of year. Take out or pick up is best not a place you are going to sit back and enjoy your food.

The best thing that’s happened to Hackensack since o found a dollar coin on the floor at 7 – 11. On heads too. Amazingly fresh food with true flavors of The Middle East — all packaged in a quaint brick setting. Had the mazza platter which was supposed to be for two… More like four. Great prices and friendly staff/management. You must go and try it. Yums! Only downfall is the poor parking.

I’m always on the hunt for a good takeout place and Mazza Falafel is a great one! They get swamped during the lunch rush so make sure you give them about 20−30min. Portions are large and prices are reasonable. They use fresh ingredients and their sauces kick it up a notch. Be sure to grab a container of their garlic sauce and hot sauce. Only outdoor tables available and street parking behind them so plan accordingly.

Can’t wait to RAVE about this spot. Food first. Chicken shawarma platter? Holy YES! 12 bucks gets you a deceptively enormous quantity of food. Loads of shawarma on a bed of rice with a salad, hummus, and enough pita warmed on the grill to feed a small army. The chicken burst with flavor and had some charred crispy spots that were a delightful counterpoint to the general melt in your mouth texture of the meat. The rice had a subtle citrus flavor that balanced beautifully with the savory shawarma. The hummus was also tasty, but pretty standard. Did not touch the salad; it looked very fresh. This place is small, with only outdoor dining. Prepare to eat al fresco or take your grub to go. They had two folks delivering today, to get deliveries out quick, fresh, and hot. The two working the counter and servicing the four outdoor tables were extremely warm and attentive. Small business done right! I will be back.
