The Straphanger

I have been going to Straphanger for well over two years now and it is by far my favorite bar in the area. I have come to know and be very friendly with Ed, Ken, Mimi, Gabe and Joe. I am not one for fancy and overpriced drinks in some swanky bar with stuck up people, which is what you typically get around this area. The bill is always affordable, and if you’re up for some witty banter, Ken (one of the owners) is your go-​to guy. The food is delicious and quickly prepared without compromising flavor by Joe in the back.
Bar tenders are always having fun behind the bar and are a genuinely funny group of people. There’s always a good crowd inside and mostly everyone is friendly and always willing to start a conversation. Good music. Good people. What more could you ask for?

An awesome bar with a very fun and friendly vibe. Been here twice (so far) and both times we were welcomed by Mimi, she’s the best! The whole staff is awesome, you can tell they really have a passion for this establishment and are very knowledgeable of everything from their specials throughout the week to the items on their food menu.
The bartenders mix the drinks very well and they have large variety of beer, both draft and bottle. First time coming with a friend, we didn’t try any of the food as we had eaten earlier. However, just reading the menu will have you drooling. Seriously, whoever wrote it deserves a Pullitzer prize, they describe each item with such appetizing detail. Finally got to try the food second time around and it exceeded expectations. I’d come a lot more often if I lived closer, but it’s worth the trip!

I honestly like this place. I come here for the wings on Tuesdays and sometimes just by myself for a drink after work. People let you be, I like that about this place. The bartenders are great, helpful and not too nosy like in lot of places. They are quick and know their job. The pool table is always busy. They have a good choice of beers and it’s nice and cold.
It’s a pretty basic bar, nothing too fancy. Totally my kind.

I am quite a fan of this bar, based mainly on customer service. If you introduce yourself to the bartenders, they will make sure to remember you every time you come back. Ken, the owner, is super personable and does his best to make sure everyone is satisfied when they are in here. Drinks are always flowing here and if you come with a group of friends you are sure to have a good time. You’ll have a good time if you come alone too-​as long as you get friendly with the bartenders. This bar has come a long way ever since Ken came on board and started cleaning it up. I’ll admit the location is a little imperfect, but the bar itself is a fun time. Also, the food is great. If you ever have a hankering for some real good bar food, this place will definitely satisfy that craving. I recommend the Chicken Parm Sliders-​so good! All the food is really yummy!

Cool bar located next to the Anderson Street train station. Food is good, love the pepper jack cheese stix! Coldest beer in Hackensack hands down. Bartenders are attentive and easy going nice mix of music on Fridays and Saturdays. Pool table and shuffle board too.

Mimi the bartender is the best thing going there…

Been here twice so far with my friends and we love the place. Food has been great, definitely get the chili cheese fries and wings. As has been previously mentioned in prior reviews, they have darts, shuffleboard, pool, a jukebox, and karaōke. $ 3 drink specials daily, good music, and a very nice staff. Kenny and his staff do a great job of welcoming people and taking care of the locals. Definitely worth checking this place out.

So glad i got to come here! co-​workers suggested it after a failed work christmas party. I was starving and needed a real drink.
When i first pulled up it looked like a dump, which is some cases are the BEST bars with the BEST food, or it could just be a DUMP –i couldn’t wait to give it a shot.
Well this was the right place! it was the best! Awesome bar drunk food (pepper jack cheese stix OMG) also the chicken wings were bangin!
The bartender hooked us up and was super sweet. Plus a little discount once checked into on Unilocal!
They have a nice pool table and a whole dart area.
I can’t wait to go back!

This place is great. Excellent food great service Mimi the bartender has excellent energy she is such a great bartender… They have great drink specials and drink prices as well. Come on down for an experience that you will never forget at the Straphanger you will not be sorry. Pool table, darts… GREAT crowd. Plenty of parking.

I came all the way down from Queens New York to try these famous wings and it was worth the travel! Great food (especially the jerk seasoning with garlic wings) Amazing drinks! If you haven’t tried the Wetzel pretzel, you must do so now. Great vibe and music. I will most definitely be visiting soon again.

For me — this place would be a «never again in this lifetime». Went last night. Sat at the bar. Waited… waited and waited some more. The three bartenders preferred to dance rather than serve patrons. Even had a bartender open a beer for himself and take a swig right in front of us without helping us. Awesome!!! Honestly, customer service would go a long way and you obviously have to know someone to get a drink here! Too bad because the atmosphere was okay for a local bar and the music was a nice mix. Just wanted a drink before heading out on the town and thought we’d support a local establishment. By the time we ordered my mind was soured on this place! New business isn’t welcome here obviously so I will spend my money elsewhere! Went to a spot in NYC after this experience and had an amazing time with a mixed crowd and 3 professional bartenders. Bartenders who with a crowd 100x larger than the one at Straphangers managed to serve me a drink quicker!

Kenny, one of the owners, has put considerable work into marketing and building this bar back into a proper place to chill. He supports local law enforcement and has had a hand in cleaning up the area as well.

Great local bar! The bartenders are great. Very welcoming bunch of staff and patrons. Felt like I was in my own town at this place! big Tvs for the game. Pool tables and shuffle board tables in the back. Thin crust pizza was just ok. Asked for it crispy. Overloaded with cheese for a thin crust and not crispy. There chef was off for the day before the big football season. They offered to take it off the bill but kids will eat anything so it’s coming home. The wings on the other hand were crazy good! cooked to perfection!!! Tuesday nights .35c wings!!! And they come in several different flavors!!!

I like this place a lot and the guys running it are awesome.
The shuffleboard is good, the pool table is good, and the darts are good. The food is very good for bar food and very cheap. Wing nights on Tuesdays kill it. I love their jerked wings, but the rest are pretty good too. The service is quick, and when it’s not, they’ve offered me a round on the house.
The beer isn’t watered down, and they don’t mind that I come more to hang out and play games than get wasted. Which works since this is a bit of a drive from my house. I need to get someone to drive one night so I can give this place my full patronage and get drunk here.

Cool spot. They have shuffle board which is sweet. They also have darts and a small pool table. Tuesday nights they have 35 cent wins and the wings are great. The fried are very good and they had other good food like chicken parm sandwich and a good cheesteak. The beer prices were good as well.

Good bar that is clean and friendly. Drinks are cheap and food is good. Has the NFL ticket for football Sundays and many TVs for all sports games.

I’ve been told from people around here that they felt uncomfortable going in there … that people turn and stare at them bc they’re not regulars. So as you can imagine, I was weary of this place. Well, I went on a Friday night with my boyfriend around 12 and had a nice time. Just went for a drink. Bartender and bouncer were both so welcoming. The crowd was very diverse. No one gave us the evil eye. We saw that Tuesday nights are their wings night … def. try to return and try those out.

Hands downs the best bar i ever been too great music/​food/​people ! The bartenders are the koolest guys and girls youll ever meet… Gotta love this place
