10 stars for the coconut shrimp! Absolutely amazing, but honestly it was the only thing I liked from here that’s why not 5 stars. But still very good! Will not disappoint

Less of a line than Giovanni’s, and they actually peel your shrimp for you, which is nice. Good stuff.

Always yummy! The shrimp were a lot smaller then usual but they gave us a lot of shrimp! The people there are always nice and food goes out quick. I got the garlic shrimp with all rice. They packed the whole plate with rice and i loved it! This is my favorite spot to go to out of all of the shrimp trucks.

The peeled garlic shrimp and the lemon pepper shrimp were two thumbs up! My mouth is watering again just thinking about it. Definitely a must stop again next time I’m back at North Shore!

My husband and I went here because we saw it on TV. We shared an order of the garlic shrimp(peeled) with rice. It was pretty good, but I wish there was a little more dimension to the sauce than just garlic and butter. But I appreciate that it IS called garlic shrimp, so I should have expected it. I may go again sometime if we’re up on the north shore, but I would probably order something different.

Saw this on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and got the crunchy shrimp they showed. Fantastic. So much food and the employees are super nice! Loved everything about this place!

The food is amazing, and the staff is even better! We were immediately greeted with a huge welcome and the employee working the front was sure to check on us multiple times. If you’re looking for great food made by friendly locals, I would highly recommend!

The food was excellent, the owner & staff Were excellent, kind. There were 2 guys there from military One of the guys tripped so he spilled his lunch All over the table. One of the gals came out and asked the gentleman if he wanted more of what he had. I’d go back in a heart beat. so yummy !!!

Stumbled upon this place by a local recommendation and unfortunately didn’t try the famous shrimp but absolutely loved the galbi meat plate. The seasoned ribs were delicious and was worth the hype that I’d heard about beforehand. I would definitely put it in my top 3 north shore places to eat.

Brought my boyfriend here for the first time & he loved it! The place it was set up in, Haleiwa, was beautiful as always. They have these cute tables set up right outside of its shrimp truck, it’s so cute! & the customer service, so amazing! The lady who I believed was the owner was so kind & thanked us for coming. Which we will be going back soon again. I highly recommend this place :)

Like many others, heard about this truck on the Triple D. I’ll admit, I was skeptical after seeing a few other slightly questionable-looking food trucks on the North Shore but the coconut shrimp was scrumptious — golden crispy morsels made to order, served with rice and the best mac salad I’ve had on Oahu. Maybe a little pricey, but what here isn’t? If you’re in Haleiwa make sure you stop by!

I was hoping this food truck lived up to all the hype but I was sadly disappointed. We ordered the lemon and pepper shrimp and short ribs. The Mac salad that comes with the meals was pretty decent. I was hoping the lemon pepper was going to taste fresh with fresh squeezed lemon juice or something but instead it was more a dried spice. The short ribs had a nice flavor but each time we bit into them there was a hard piece, not sure if it was a spice chunk or a tiny bone or something. No flavor to the rice. The best part was the ripe pineapple slices that were served with it. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning.

Came here for a second time(two different trips to Oahu) and was again happy with my order! I got the spicy shrimp this time and was happy with the chunks of garlic still covering my order. I think there were probably 10 shrimp of good size, and plenty of sauce poured over(if I went back I might ask for more). They do give a free drink to locals, which I didn’t realized since I visited last time with a local… so was disappointed by $ 14 didn’t come with a water but thats fine. Lots of seating out back, you can’t necessarily tell if there are lots of people here as its behind the van with tables out front as well. They do prepare the peeled shrimp here which I ordered on my last visit and was pleasantly surprised. Still juicy and delicious without the mess! Overall a solid shrimp truck!

Still my favorite shrimp truck! The people are so nice. It’s very clean. Plenty of parking. She gives free drinks to service members. The food is amazing. Love that she’s serving pineapple with the plates now. Don’t miss the coleslaw at all!

Came in today and ordered No.2 Spicy Garlic Shrimp. They give you plenty of rice, about 10 pieces shrimps, and 3 sliced fresh pineapple. Food was average. I didn’t really care for the taste and it wasn’t as spicy as I thought it would be. Shrimp was a little dry. Garlic was cut in big pieces. The place has tons of seating area from the front to the back. The tables and chairs are pretty clean. The ladies are very friendly. If you are Military you get a free Hawaiian juice or soda.

My personal favorite shrimp truck on the North Shore/Haleiwa! There’s tons of covered seating, NO long lines or waits, spacious parking lot, great menu items, and of course delicious garlic shrimp! The only downside is that their garlic shrimp plates are pricey(~$ 13) but by now, all shrimp trucks in the area are about the same price. What I also love about this place is that for an extra $ 1, you can order your garlic shrimp UNPEELED which is really perfect for when you don’t wanna get your hands dirty or smelling like garlic. The workers are so friendly and if you’re Kama’aina, they’ll usually give you a free soft drink or bottled water with your order.

I took my out of town bestie here and we loved it! We ordered the peeled garlic shrimp and it was awesome not having to peel it on our own! The lady who owns this shrimp truck is very sweet and nice. There is a designated seating area in the front and back of the truck. It’s not as crowded as the other shrimp trucks and honestly I think I found one of my fave shrimp trucks now! The order came out quick too and the shrimp was delicious!

My FAVORITE shrimp truck! This is my all time favorite lunch spot when I come to the north shore. I use to prefer Giovanni’s, just because of the hype, but this place is soooooooo much better! Their shrimp just tastes more«clean»(if that makes sense?) and fresher than any of the shrimp trucks I’ve tried. Her spicy sauce is pretty amazing, & I prefer to get the shell-on spicy shrimp just to suck all the spicy juice out of it! So much flavor! Sometimes when I’m in the mood I’ll get the garlic shrimp, and she is generous with garlic!!! Rice-shrimp ratio is just right, and it comes with a side salad! She’s generous with dressing too! My husband has also tried their shrimp fried rice which he also loves! That comes packed like a shrimp donburi! Truck and premises are clean. Workers are FRIENDLY. Owners are dedicated and loves their customers!

This was the first shrimp truck I visited when I moved here because I saw it featured on Diner’s, Drive Inns and Dive’s and I love that show! Their garlic shrimp was pretty good, but I prefer Macky’s shrimp over any garlic shrimp in the north shore. My husband is a huge fan of the short ribs though and gets it pretty often. Their spicy shrimp is really good too! The lady that works here(who is usually here) is super nice and friendly. The last time we came here, my husband ordered the garlic shrimp and short rib combo and when she served him his plate, she told him she gave him extra food. Maybe because we come here a lot? Not really sure, but it was nice of her! They have a good amount of picnic tables with hand sanitizers available on each table. There’s a lot of pesky flies around there but it’s like that at most of the other food truck eating areas, as well. Their prices are pretty comparable to all of the other shrimp trucks. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone who visits the north shore!

Best shrimp truck on the island and featured on Food network show Diner, Dives, and Drive inns for their garlic shrimp plate. I recommend the peeled garlic shrimp plate to everyone it is packed with flavor and fresh caught shrimp cooked over big chucks of garlic over white rice. There are several plates not just shrimp I’ve had the beef plate and they even offer a calamari plate. Everything is so good. Prices are a little high but same as all shrimp trucks on the island. They do however offer a kids sized portion for almost half price and it is still a big portion for my 11 year old who packs a big appetite. Drinks are available in cans both sodas and juices all $ 1.50 each. Great spot away from the busier shopping there and shaded umbrella sitting. There are flies around though, but that problem is not limited to this place. There are other good shrimp trucks here and I’ve tried a few of them but I keep coming back to Big Waves because it’s my favorite. Everyone we bring here just loves it too! They take cash debit and credit cards. Food is ready in 10 minutes if no line.
