Not what I was expecting at all. This truck was located across from Shark’s Cove so it was convenient at the time. Before trying this place’s shave ice, I had already been to two other shave ice businesses on the island. North Shore Shave Ice isn’t a shave ice or a mainland snow cone at all. Their ice is super granular and resembles the crushed ice you’d find in Sonic Drive-In Drinks. Standard flavors were fine but the ice texture was terrible. I’d have rather had a $ 2 Cherry Limeade from Sonic than a $ 4 crushed ice syrup drink. Maybe it was a bad day. I took a look at some of the Unilocal photos for this place and those photos don’t resemble what they served me. So at least that means inconsistent quality.

This place was the best place I’ve been to for shave ice so far in Hawaii. The worker there was very nice and was also from California just like me. But most of the flavored there were sold out and he had a little bit of most things but that shave ice was the best. NOMNOMNOM!!! I recommend the coconut and the lychee with condensed milk.

For the record, it’s called SHAVE ice. Not SHAVED ice. The reason for this is because I guess the origins of this word come from the local pidgen language. So forget all your grammar rules as the word isn’t in past tense! Anyway, I DIGRESS. So this was my first time trying local shave ice in Hawaii! And for $ 4, I was pretty pleased! We got the pineapple and lychee flavor and it was so good! Pineapple was a bit on the sweet side but lychee was perfect. The ice? IT’S SOFLUFFYYYYYYYYYY. TIP: GETTHEICE-CREAMFOR +$ 1MORE. The vanilla ice-cream was so good and perfect with the ice. MOREOVER, on the topic of SUNSETS and SHAVEICE. This, my friends, is the PERFECT combo. What I recommend is getting one of the shave ices here during the evening and watch the sunset. Order it, sit on the tables, and just enjoy the sunset. Which is exactly what we did. It was perfect.

This was a great after tacos treat. Right across from the north shore shrimp truck with seating facing the cove, this is a great spot. Most importantly it was good!!! The price was 8.00 for two with three flavors each. I would recommend if the normal shave ice spot is very busy.

When a huge crowd formed at Matsumoto’s about a block away, my cousins and I opted for the tiny shave ice food truck with almost no line. You can also get acai bowls at this food truck. One shave ice size here for $ 4. Get up to three flavors. Adding ice cream is $ 1 more. I got pineapple, passion fruit, and li hing mui. The ice cream used is a local brand found in Hawaii supermarkets. Decent shave ice here. Texture is a bit on the granular side; there are places that will shave the ice even finer. Still a good shave ice spot. There are also some other food trucks within a few blocks, so you can get some lunch along with your shave ice.
