I can’t begin to tell you how happy we were to find out that this restaurant opened… and that they take reservations! Or how wonderful the experience was for all of us. We were a three generation party of 7 with a vegetarian in the mix so finding a sit down restaurant in Haleiwa has always been a challenge. No longer! Three of us had the Ahi(rare) and it was delicious. With a nice sear on the outside and raw on the inside it was perfection. The dressing on the salad that came with was also stupendous. Two of us had the fish and chips and were equally pleased… though I must say that while it was perfectly cooked it was to my taste an insufficiently ‘fishy’ fish. But since I didn’t order it and those who did were very happy I have no cause for complaint. The Wagyu burger was very, very good as were the fries. In fact the only disappointment was the Wild Mushroom flatbread which given the description and the quality of the other items we ordered could and should have been a lot more ‘mushroom-y’. The drinks were spectacular and the beer selection was reasonable. Particularly the Thai Basil drink which despite the name really came across as a(pleasantly) less sweet Chi-Chi with a little kick of spice and the faintest whiff of basil. The service was excellent. But what really sets this restaurant apart is the setting. Out on the balcony we were protected from the sun yet surrounded by the lush gardens and cool breezes of Waimea Valley. Truly a magical place.

We went for Happy Hour upstairs. It was nice to hear some live Hawaiian music coming for the garden. However, the drinks were just so so. Mine just tasted like a soda. None of the appetizers looked that appealing on the menu. Sort of expected more considering the setting.

Food was good. A little pricey and the portions are not very big, but the location is nice and the service was good.

We had high hopes being our first time there. Saturday brunch, glad they had handicap access elevator for my Mom since they were on the 2nd floor. Talked with wait staff, said they weren’t going to do dinner anymore . The menu looked great, mom and dad had coffee and it was only warm not hot. My wife and I had Bloody Mary and there good but the celery looked old should have cut the top instead looked dried. 3 of us had corn chowder which was good but again only warm not hot. Dad had the burger and he loved it, Mom had the fried rice and didn’t like it mushy and bland. Wife had the mushroom omelet said it was good, but the potatoes were under cooked, I had basically a ham panini covered in bechamel and a fried egg. It was good but very rich and filling, and also my potatoes were under cooked. We live local and don’t think we’ll come back.

The Proud Peacock makes a tasty burger. The fried Avocado is a nice addition and you can taste the patty it is good grass local fed beef. We had a side of BBQ sauce(that must have been homemade, YUM) that was extra yummy(dipped the fries in it). We also enjoyed a chocolate martini that the Bar Tender made special for us. We’ll definitely go back to this local spot again in the future. They don’t get 5 stars because the ladies room was not very clean(I peeked into 4 stalls before I found one decent enough for my bumm, and there was a bad smell ruminating from one of the first 3 stalls) Thank good their food was good.

Upstairs, above the snack stand at Waimea Valley. Limited hours. Excellent menu. Happy hour specials 4 – 6. Live music on weekends after 6, I think. Love this place!

We came for dinner. The menu choices were very simple, the appetizers choices seemed boring. Even our salad we ordered & shared, that was quite ambitious on the ingredients lacked skill & flavor. Our entrees were perfectly cooked, but honestly nothing unique. For dessert, we tried the taro brûlée which tasted more like sweet potato, but tasty. Our server was very sweet, her serve was not seamless but overall satisfying. What made this experience incredible, was the location. Being seated outside you are able to see the valley beyond, the live Hawaiian music performed made you feel like you were somewhere else in place & time. Mahalo!

Definitely an above average meal here. I had the Osso Bucco but made with pig shank. Extremely tasty dish. The Missus had the chef’s tasting menu, which that night I believe was the corn chowder with a salad, a steak and a dessert of lilikoi ice cream and a chocolate crème brûlée type of thang, which was very tasty. I had the bread pudding, also tasty. Only negatives were that they didn’t have any sort of decaf coffee, and the wait for dessert was crazy long. Besides that, great meal, and nice view of Waimea Valley from lanai.

This place was not kid friendly! We sat inside, but we soon discovered that was a good choice since the live music was all pointed straight at the tables on the lanai, 2 feet away! We weren’t actually taken to our table either, we were just told«the second booth is better». And it still wasn’t good: it was a tight fit — around the knees, and we’re not big people — and the seat cover was way too big for the seat and it wasn’t nailed down — I had to get in quick to make sure my 2-year-old didn’t slip and fall under the table. The drinks came out pretty quick(albeit all glass, even for the kids), but the tea bag came out wet and our waitress put it directly on the table. She didn’t provide or ask if my wife wanted sugar! She came by several times until we decided what we wanted, but when we said it was just a bowl of fruit for all 4 of us, we didn’t see her again for at least 20 minutes when she brought it out! And 20 minutes just for a bowl of fruit?! She didn’t even give us silverware until after she brought over the fruit! Again, she never came and asked us how it was, or to check on us in any way, for another 10 minutes. It wasn’t until my daughter was crying on my lap that she came by to ask if we wanted the check(I half expected her to just drop it off without talking to us). We tried to wave her down to ask about military discount, but she didn’t try to see us until she grabbed the check, and we still had to stop her running away just to ask her!(Btw, no, they don’t have military discount.) All in all, we know we didn’t get a real feel from the menu selection, we just needed a snack before going home. We’re willing to try it again, even though this wasn’t the best first experience.

Had a great last dinner on the north shore here tonight. Had awesome service and hospitality. Prime rib was not over cooked which was a first for the island. Clearly is a must hit for dinner on the north shore. Thanks Unilocal for a great place to go!

The view with dinner this evening was spectacular with a mountain and lush green to gaze upon. We had the lumpia appetizer followed by steak and ahi tuna entrees respectively. Very tasty food that is beautifully presented. Fair price and quality taste. Well presented dishes with attentive and very welcoming staff. I liked the outdoor experience with the low key setting. Midscale dining with date night appeal. Dessert selection was delicious!

If I was giving a rating based on ambiance and setting it would have 5 stars for sure. But you can get that every where in Hawaii! For how much this place costs the food should be so much better. The crab dip was a weird texture, weird flavor… Was the crab ground up? There were no large pieces of crab in the dip and the cheese melted all gritty. My husband got the chicken pasta. It was a really small portion and he only ate half the chicken because the other half was rubbery and weird. My prime was delicious but how can you screw up prime rib! It was over cooked, I asked for medium and it was definitely well done. Not a trace of pink. And the baked potato it came with was very blah. Which I don’t know how because it was topped with bacon and cheese but the flavor was just off. There is much better food available on the north shore!

My husband and I were in Oahu for our honeymoon. We came to Proud Peacock for Happy Hour and an early dinner. We didn’t have a reservation but were able to be seated on the deck without a wait. They have pretty good happy hour deals for drinks and we got the Sriracha Pico De Gallo for a Pupu. I got the grilled vegetables entrée and my husband got the burger(with fried avocados on top!). Both were great, you can tell they cook with fresh and local ingredients. Service was attentive as well. The setting, scenery and peacock who roams the grounds added to a great atmosphere!

My Mother’s Day was the best ever, and this place made it even more special. I have really taken to liking this beautiful place. You are surrounded by park like settings and beauty and birds. The peacocks are a trip, I never knew they climb trees because I have only seen them on Native American farms in Nevada, and there weren’t many trees there. They were standing in the trees with their tails fanned out, and it was just… Marvelous! The service was excellent despite them being so busy at the time. The breakfast brunch had a good variety of foods. The reason I am giving four stars is the definite need of improvement on the food and the way it is served. Most of my items were cold that were breakfast items. The vegetarian spaghetti was super flavorless and why did they serve one Asian dish and then make the rest other cuisines. It seemed like a weird mix. They should just stick to American and comfort food, there is enough Asian fusion on this island. Many of the people that went there were not even Asian, there is a mix of people from around the world, which made it even more interesting. The potatos were just little grease balls, gross. The fresh omelettes with all the topping options, EXCELLENT! Also, when you do Mother’s Day events and stuff like this, you should have a photographer come around to take pics. They can sell prints for people to remember the day. Could have had photo shoot with the hula dancers too. That would have been a nice touch, and photographers are not expensive. Hire me, I will do it for super inexpensive! The staff here is very catering, I truly appreciate that. The gift shop is also fun, I took home some soap, macadamia nut oil, and a citronella plant for my garden. This was a very romantic experience. My family loves it here. We walked up to the falls after and the boys went for a swim. Too fun! Thank you for helping make my Mother’s Day the best I have ever had in my life!

Whole family happy with food, live music nice and peaceful Hawaiian atmosphere. I had the salmon, it was cooked perfect! I thought it might be too expensive given the three $$$, but that’s misleading. Kids meal was only $ 7 and $ 10 Unilocal coupon made it less than we usually pay for our our family of four to eat out. My salmon was $ 20. Service a little slow, but not terrible. We’ll definitely go back.

This place is still trying to find its groove but overall was really nice. The pros: The happy hour prices and even the regular prices are great. The egg rolls were yummy and they had a nice specialty drink menu. The scenery was peaceful and nice like a country porch. Our server, Sasha, was cheerful and well informed about the long and interesting history of the restaurant. The cons: We are not locals and this place was a bit tricky to find. I went with a chicken pasta and while the sauce was great, the chicken was not good(dry and processed). The place also seemed understaffed, only 2 servers in a restaurant that seats 99. If you are not in a hurry though, I’d still recommend it.

I was looking for a nice sit-down place instead of one of the many shacks. The setting is very nice but the food fell short of my expectations. The Mai Tai was tasteless and not worth the happy hour price($ 8). I had the Chef’s Taste. The crab cake was perfect but the NY strip was thin and tasteless. The fingerling potatoes were kind of dry. The deserts were the best part of the meal. I may be spoiled, being use to all the great chefs in Cleveland. No internet in the restaurant but you can get a signal 20 ft from the building.

Came here for the Sunday brunch buffet. Made a reservation via Unilocal, but really didn’t need to since the inside of the restaurant was empty and the lanai was halfway full when we got there at 11am. We sat on the lanai, experiencing the beauty of Waimea valley. The cold buffet: spinach salad, Caesar salad, fruit salad, somen noodles, roasted vegetables(eggplant, squash, zucchini, mushroom). The hot buffet: rice, eggs, bacon, sausage, sweet ribs, chicken, Furikake coated fish, noodles with kale, asparagus. Also, a carving station with prime rib and make your own omelet station. Pastry table: crème brûlée, taro pastry, croissant, tea, coffee. Everything was really tasty! The Furikake coated fish was cooked really well. Not overdone! Buffet costs about $ 27/person, so not a cheap eat, but if you want a nice afternoon out, come for the natural beauty and good food! Free parking, no cell service in the valley. Alcohol extra(build your own mimosas were $ 6/glass) Would have been nice to have another breakfast dish, like Belgian waffles or pancakes with a guava syrup/fruit topping. Wasn’t a lot of vegetarian/starch options.
