Only super good if the owner is there making the food for you. Otherwise, still pretty good. The ingredients are fresh — you can taste it. The veggie panini is my favorite.

This place is fabulous! We almost missed it entirely and thought it had closed because we couldn’t find it. NOTETOOTHERS: if you are looking for the address and find yourself in front of an ice cream shop, you’re close. Universe is right there in the SAME building, just on the other side. In fact, you can walk right through the ice cream shop and out the back door and you’ll find yourself at Universe. It’s a sweet little find in the back, which causes them to miss a lot of people, I’m sure. They are on the shady side of the building with a couple of tables outside. Their juice and poke bowls are fab, and the menu in general reflects what you want to see on a stifling hot day: Cool, light and tasty!

We enjoyed this place… I had the Toasted Monkey smoothie on both trips(peanut butter, nutella, banana… mmm). Hubby had the spicy poke bowl and the acai bowl. My smoothies were really yummy, and I had it with a side of their super delish granola. Second time around I ordered the granola but it was forgotten. too bad. Poke bowl was super spicy but the ahi was very fresh… hubby loved it despite the numb lips! The acai bowl was okay but it seemed like a lot of the ingredients listed were unfortunately left out. I think the owner was working the first time we went… he was very friendly and invited us to a live music night which we unfortunately couldn’t make. The second time we went there was a strange girl working who seemed very inconvenienced by our presence even though we were the only people in the shop. Next time we’re in town I’d probably peek in to see who’s working because it was honestly akward being in the facility with this girl(she also made the subpar acai bowl). If it weren’t for her it’d be a 5 star joint for sure!

North Shore is full of unique eateries but I have to say Universe Juice is my favorite. I have known the owners from the days they were selling their delicious solar-powered smoothies at the Haleiwa Farmer’s Market and they have worked so hard to be where they are today. Universe Juice embodies the unique local flavor of Haleiwa. Most of their produce comes from nearby farms and you see it daily as people come in delivering aloha, smiles and fresh fruit and veggies. The Acai Bowls are my favorite. Topped with fresh granola and nuts and sprinkled with toasted coconut and strawberries, the acai bowls are unique and BIG! The smoothies are all excellent and they will make subsitutes for soy milk or apple juice and any of the fruits. Their paninis are amazing too! The ahi one is my favorite but all are bursting with fresh veggies. Although– the bread isn’t made in house any more :( The Lemongrass soup is AMAZING also. Sometimes there are freshly baked goodies– unique savory scones are my personal favorite but there are also brownies, blondies and fruit scones depending on the day. Everything is freshly baked and tastes like it! Their Waialua coffee is a great addition to the baked goods if you are just looking for a snack! One definite drawback is the consistency of their food and service. Sometimes they are open Sunday afternoons and sometimes all day. Lately they don’t have as many baked goods and I miss the days they made their own bread. Since they started hiring new people to work there, I haven’t been impressed at all with the service and aloha… I do still love and support local businesses though so I put up with the inconsistency for a great panini and smoothies :) Universe Juice also does events. They recently catered my birthday party and their service, communication and, of course food, made them a PLEASURE to work with. All my guests were very impressed and they even served ‘Awa and a homemade cookie cake :) UJ also has live music and ‘Awa nights on Fridays as well as wi-fi and a quiet work space. They are quickly becoming a valued part of the Haleiwa community.

Best smoothies in the history of the universe — according to my little lovely taste-buds! Mantra is my favorite(but the toasted monkey — of the land of lucious chocolate is also a contender), along with liliko’i bars(that sell out fast), and the caprese salad. Their atmosphere reminds me of Hale Noa — a creative, welcoming, tasty, refreshing, beautiful, and simple space — where a touch of «amazing» happens on a regular basis. Musicians drop by — and start jamming — artists stop off and start live painting — and really great conversations and connections are created. I heard awa nights have started up!(INSERT happy happy joy joy jig here) The owners are an amazing family– warm, caring, kind, generous, and fun people with a lot of heart and authenticity.

not too many places in Haleiwa for healthy eats. This is a great little place. The mushroom panini is a must, best sandwich I’ve ever had!

I love love LOVE this place. It is great to have a business that supports other local enterprises and has great products. The spot is super friendly, the food is fresh, and I always feel like I’m filling my stomach with quality ingredients. And I love that I can feed my son anything I get for myself. I’m never disappointed!

Saw their booth at Taste of Waialua. The best smoothies I’ve ever had. Went to the new location the following week and I have to say I was disappointed. The smoothie was still amazing(amber aura), however I was expecting a larger size smoothie for the price($ 5.75& that’s the cheapest one). Also, the lady that took my order wasn’t rude, but wasn’t pleasant either. Her child was hanging on her with only a diaper on in their very small kitchen. I had high hopes for this place, and I’ll probably go back occasionally, but it’s expensive and I wasn’t overly excited about the child situation.

Best smoothies on the North Shore! …and Hawaii Kai too! Maybe it’s named Universe Juice since it’s the best smoothies in tha universe! Next time you go to the Haliewa Farmers Market(every Sunday) or Hawaii Kai farmers market(Saturdays), save some stomach room for Universe Juice. Fully organic and fully good, they have a macked out Acai bowl called the Lotus Bowl which is filled with fresh banana, strawberries, blueberries, granola, honey and coconut and actually shaped like a lotus. As for the rest of the smoothies– You choose soy milk or apple juice as your base and go from there. Some of the featured smoothies are the Mint Sin, which is banana, grapes, fresh mint and cacao nibs, or the Amber Aura, a mix of Papaya, orange, mango pineapple, strawberries and banana. A plethora of vegan selections for all you hungry and thirsty vegans, but still super tasty(for all of you non-vegans scared of compromising flavor for health)! Universe juice also features several delicious baked goods. Scones with flavors like orange ginger or peanut butter and guava jelly, muffins and cookies and more, again, never greasy always good. Today I tried the Lilikoi Bar, which is kind of like a lemon bar except passion fruit flavor. And, like everything Universe Juice owners Makani and Dave make– Delicious!
