Tried Clifford’s because the line was too long elsewhere. I hate to be picky, but sliced sandwich bread & pull-apart rolls? Salad & soup were average. Iced tea tasted funny & was never offered a refill(not that I wanted one). Perch was tasty but my fries were cold. $ 17+ is the most I ever paid for such a lackluster meal. My sister had shrimp that was also very average: Simply prebreaded shrimp dropped into a fry basket. She didn’t even finish her meal. Major disappointment. We’d never go back.

Okay. Much of this five stars might be really four stars, except Cliffords brings back so many happy memories it deserves five stars. This is a Hales Corners, and a Whitnall graduate institution. I have been to a ton of weddings here, most of them upwards of several hundred people. We would come here when the drinking age was 18, the place was packed«back in the day», Jack Glynn was the bar manager, we would come home on leave or from college and meet in the bar. Go sit in «the fish pond» part. It is the huge banquet room, with big long tables, where solos, couples, families, and friends go sit on Fridays to get their fish on. You can sit in the restaurant, except the people watching isn’t as good, and that is a huge part of it. How quickly you will get seated may depend on if you are Royalty or not(my parents would go every Friday once all of «us kids» were grown, and they could afford it), and they would be seated right away. If you go earlier or later, you score a seat right away. You can always sit at the bar and wait for a seat, have two-tree beers or an old fashioned. No, there isn’t much of a beer list, or much liquor past, except this is classic south-side Cliffords fish fry and not to be missed I read a comment that the décor in here may, perhaps, be dated… this isn’t dated, this is a… a CLASSIC. Enjoy your vintage American Supper Club, as unless you drive up north or out to the Dells, you are not going to find many of these places, anymore! I read the snarky comment about the waitresses missing tooth, and that she was overweight, etc… so don’t go eat at Cliffords if you are a small minded, snotty chach who wants a server who looks like a model so you can undertip him or her anyway because you spent so much money dining downtown that you can’t afford to pay for your food AND tip. Besides, it is the PEOPLEWATCHING that gives this restaurant much of it’s charm, whether the servers or the diners. If you are at max-hunger on a tiny lunch budget, stop in for lunch. There is an old fashioned sandwich– something like a patty-melt, meatloaf, or the like– along with unlimited soup bar(3 choices, very home made tasting) at a very economical price. Very much a Hales Corners secret, I’m surprised I don’t see more students, businesspeople, families, and well… everybody out at lunch here.

So this place is a little old in style when it comes the the interior but the food was awesome. I had the all you can eat crab legs and my boyfriend had the chopped sirloin. Both were amazing. Crabs were fresh and the sirloin cooked perfect and the butter for the crab legs was seasoned and delicious. The juice that came with the chopped sirloin was awesone. The service was great. Our waitress was really nice. All in all I reccomend this place for sure!

My Grandparents took my family here for the Friday fish fry dating at least 20 years back. After they passed I have maybe gone 1 – 2 times per year. My wife and I went this past Friday and ordered the fish fry for 2 and 2 sodas. The fish seemed overcooked… not as good as it used to be. The biggest turnoff was the bill came to $ 35! Absolutely ridiculous if you ask me! We are not the type that can eat more than is given on the 1 plate so it is so not worth it. I can go order a perch fry somewhere else for less.

My husband and I went here on Saturday night for dinner. Neither of us had ever been there for food so we thought we would try it. I got the fish fry, pretty greasy and fishy tasting. He got the Filet, it was suppose to be the 12 oz, and when it came it looked like a hockey puck. It came with a little cup of some very odd juice that just tasted like salt water. When I inquired to the waitress about the size of the steak, she informed us that she picked the junior cut for him because it was cheaper??? We must have looked like we couldn’t afford the regular cut. Never again… disgusting. Not trying to be mean but it is kind of off putting when your server is missing front teeth!

Last night I join my mother, grandmother, a friend and my daughter for dinner. I arrived 15 minutes later then the rest who where already seated and have not yet had a waitress come over. By the time she came over she was unfriendly and annoyed. We ordered our beverages and an appetizer to start. When the drinks came I received my diet coke which tasted moldy and about 15 to 20 minutes later we got our haystack oversalted onion rings. They were terrible. And how do you wash down the salt with a awful diet coke? So we watched our waitress poke around and slowly make it back to our table as I requested something else to drink. Well low and behold she forgot my beverage. The fish arrived… we had no plates and no knives. Once we received those we started to eat soggy fries and fishy fish. At this point I still had not received my beverage. I needed to remind her again. This is my 3rd time here in the last 2 years. My husband didnt want to join because of the first 2 bad experiences. Never again Cliffords. Disgusting.

My boyfriend and I came here for the all you can eat crab legs on Saturdays and they did not disappoint! The legs were huge as well as the refills. Unfortunately I forget our server’s name, but she was extremely polite and attentive.

I came in for their Friday Fish fry on a visit to Tha Mil… and I loved it! I grew up on the beach in L.A. so I KNOW good fish’n’chips when I have it and I had it at Cliffords. Tender, flakey and not too greasy. Fries, not chips but it’s all good I guess. Family style serving and sitting at the benches with other peeps was kinda cool too. Great value, great food and a great night. I enjoyed Cliffords!

I will write this review for one sole reason. The Cherries Jubilee. My flippin’ inbox is chalk full of people asking me where to get a good Cherries Jubilee. Well Clifford’s has a good one. Just like Jack always made em’. Clifford’s has a MKE cult following I guess. It knock some peoples socks off. They have a decent Supper Club menu. I keep coming back for the dessert though. As some of you know I am not into dessert too much. I like ice cream cakes, but I only have one birthday a year, and usually I don’t feel like having people over for cake anyhow. I am kind of sick of that birthday song too. I guess I over birthdays now that I am old enough to run for POTUS.

This should really be negative stars it was such a terrible dining experience. When u walk in the place smells weird and is so outdated it’s falling apart. We ordered the all you can eat fish fry our waitress forgot to bring us our drinks to start. Then Che brought us the worlds most grease soaked soggy over salted fried cod of all time. Just awful and I mean awful. And let’s talk about the price most fish fries runaround ten bucks theirs was 15.00 and frankly it made me want to puke — I’d stay away from this place its terrible

The service is terrible. My friend ordered the new york strip steak when it came it was over done and burned and cold. We sent it back when the replacement it was cold alot of grisly. They know steak knives. The green beans were cold. They gave us an empty bottle of A1 sauce. I ordered the sirloin of beef it cold tough grisly no seasoning and no steak knife. Neither meal had any taste. Paper knapkins no water. $ 60.00 and our Easter mean ruined. while we were there 2 couples walked out. We will never go back. When I called them and complained they did make it good so we will try again.

Looking forward to Thanksgiving dinner at Clifford’s again this year. For many years now, our family has had a fabulous turkey dinner with all the trimmings without the hassle of cooking or clean up. And the food is just like I would make at home. Large hall can handle small or large families easily. Yay for Clifford’s.

I love the all you can eat Friday fish fry. Food is hot and comes out pretty quick. Service can be hit or miss depending on what waitstaff you get. Service can be lightning fast or super slow.

My husband and I went here for a benefit for someone that my younger sister went to school here. The parking lot is small and it is wierdly shaped, which I wasn’t a fan of. There wasn’t much décor on the walls — some wood paneling, basic banquet chairs. I would think it’s a supper club, it would at least a little fancier? Maybe my expectations are too high. But anyways, I think the 70’s(or is it the 80’s) wants their décor back. The food was okay, there was nothing spectacular about it. Would I go back? Probably not.

Are you kidding me!!! The phone at our normal Friday Fish Fry stop was off the hook for some odd reason, so instead of driving out to find this small restaurant closed, my wife and I decided to order takeout somewhere else. We had been to Clifford’s about a year back for the AYCE Fish Fry and it was decent but not great. We decided to give them another shot and I’m regretting it. I called to put in a takeout order at about 6:45PM. They said I have to come in and put in an order for takeout at their«takeout window», and«it comes out really quick, it only takes about five minutes». I hung up the phone and I was in their establishment within 15 minutes. Their parking lot sucks. It’s always packed and it’s awkwardly shaped. If you come here on a busy night, you’ll be parking about 2 – 3 blocks away. And to the a$$clown driving the Ford Taurus who parked in front of the Clifford’s sign, learn how to park. You barely left enough room for my small Camry to squeeze through, yet the back end of the full size pickup truck next to you is two feet ahead of your back end. I walk in and look and look and there’s no takeout window, which I thought was weird since I’ve been in here probably twice and didn’t remember them having one. I stop a waiter right of the bat, he tells me they’re taking orders at the register at the end of the bar. I put in an order for two fish dinners and a couple extra pieces of fish, since I wanted to be on the safe side and my young daughter would be sharing our meals. I pay, she hands me a ticket and says«you’re 66». I take the ticket, stand there clueless until I ask«Do I just wait here?» And she tells me «Have a seat at the bar». At least the bartender asked me if I wanted a drink, to which I politely declined due to their small and uninspired beer list, which was badly printed, put in a clear binder sleeve and taped onto a cabinet. Fine dining at its best. It’s a good thing I wore my fancy sweatpants. I instantly get caught in the rabbit hole of Twitter, until a young lady wakes me up out of my trance. I check my trusty iPhone and it’s been almost 25 minutes. So much for the in and out service. My wife loves fish fry and I buy a lot of these take out meals since she usually works late and I pick it up right before she gets home and they stop serving fish for the night. I know what the proper weight of two four piece meals should be, and this is pretty light. Instead of checking takeout boxes in the parking lot, I take my hungry ass home and open up what Clifford’s considers«Fine Dining». A picture says a thousand words, and I took pictures of both meals and posted them on here. Pitiful. Extremely small pieces of fish, worst of all half of the pieces were over cooked and burnt on the edges. A couple«pieces» of fish were half the size of my 18 month olds hand! The fries were absurdly soggy. The coleslaw tasted like they stuffed a couple shreds of cabbage in a quarter cup of the blandest mayonnaise you can buy. The dinner roll was store bought at best and oddly enough, that was the best part of the meal. All this for $ 32.50. My wife wanted me to take it back, but I couldn’t fathom driving another 10 minutes to have me wait another 25 minutes for them to get it right, and then have to drive back home to boot. I would say that this is McDonalds quality food but that’s giving it too much credit. At least at McD’s, I’d pay a third less for more food that’s not burnt and get some soft drinks included in the price. Actually, what we couldn’t salvage out of the pile for my daughter we fed to the dogs, and that was probably borderline animal abuse considering how badly prepared this meal was. I will never, EVER, step foot in here again.

An archetypical Wisconsin supper club. I’ve had Chicago and other out of town friends ask, «What is a supper club?» And I tell them, well, it’s a Wisconsin thing, come up this way and I’ll take you to one. If it’s a Friday, then this place might be my choice, as they have a good, typical Wisconsin fish fry. They bill themselves as a seafood supper club, and those seem to be their best dishes. Their food ranges from mediocre to okay, you’re better off with anything fried. A big part of the enjoyment at a Wisconsin supper club for me is nostalgic. We stopped by places like this to or from the Dells on family car trips out of Chicago. Just like then, when I order an Old Fashioned(like Mom used to), the waitress(overweight, calls me «honey») asks without any hesitation, «whiskey or brandy,» followed by «sweet or sour, «and does not ask if I want a specific brand of whisky or brandy, and just like then, it comes quickly in an authentic old-fashioned-specific glass(properly called, an old fashioned glass). It’s like stepping into the«Way-back Machine» and Mr. Peabody has set it for 1973, Milwaukee. I think I even called my wife, Sherman, once or twice. She’s a bit younger than me, totally didn’t get it. Who remembers when Agnew was Vice-President? I think that might be the last time they remodeled. Try the lobster bites.

This was a good place for a fish fry and the family style service in the banquet room was great for sharing a meal with a group of friends. The fish had nice batter and was served with a creamy coleslaw, french fries and bread. I wish Clifford’s was closer to my house!
