I have shopped there for years and would never go elsewhere. The fish is fresh and the prices are reasonable. Billy makes absolutely the best seafood soups and crab cakes ! He is the master of poached salmon which is the centerpiece of all my parties!

Before I moved to Brooklyn, I would make my way to Jeff’s as often as possible. If I’m ever put on death row, their flounder filet sandwich will definitely be a part of my last meal. People mainly come here to pick up fish to cook at home(which is fantastic) but for bachelors on the go such as myself, the food made on site is outrageous. Thanks Billy. Semper fi.

Came in on Christmas Eve moments before they were closing. My family really wanted to have Flounder for dinner but of course made a last minute decision to do so. When I walked into the store, the guys behind the counter were wishing each other Merry Christmas about to be on their way. They had packed up their fish and were completely cleaned up. I asked if they were closed and they told me no and were immediately ready to assist me in picking out some dinner. They easily could have told me they were closed but instead were very accommodating. When I ordered flounder, I was given a choice between Local or Canadian. The guy behind the counter thoroughly explained the difference between the two and suggested I go with the Canadian if I wanted a more mild flavor. After much debate, I chose the local flounder, a tad more expensive than the Canadian kind, about $ 16 and change per pound. The guy went in the back and brought out some good looking pieces. When I got home, we cooked it up and it was AMAZING. Seriously some of the freshest flounder I have ever had. I will definitely come to Jeff’s any time I need seafood in the future.

I will not be going back there again. The young kid with the white skull cap needs a customer service course. A nasty attitude and a brat who is so rude.

Not cheap, but you get what you pay for and Jeff’s offerings are top quality. Amazing swordfish and Montauk scallops. The $ 10 lobster pies are also extremely tasty.

I love these guys! I also love when i call asking for oysters on a half shell and you hear the disappointment in their voice. Sorry for the work! But this is the best fish market in the area

Fish is always very fresh, they are always helpful, and nice, and will tell you how to cook something if you are not sure. Expensive, Yes — –but worth every dime! This is the place to go for the best seafood!

Very fresh clams and from the look of it everything else. They were very nice and helpful, even recommended what types of clams to get and how many(honest recommendation because he told me that I was getting way too much) and even what type of beer would go well for the sauce i was making. Reasonably priced even though fresh seafood overall is expensive, but definitely worth it. Ps they take credit card.

Another excellent Long Island fish market. Always a very good selection of fresh locally caught seafood. Owner is very hands on, I see him in the place pretty much every time I go there and he is extremely knowledgable, friendly and professional. Yes, as has been noted, he hires a lot of teenagers to work behind the counter but I’m not exactly sure when this became a bad thing. Lots of daily specials; I am especially happy to report they have revived a great little neck clam special they had stopped doing for a while; buy 3 dozen get one dozen free…

This place is the real deal with fresh fish and yes, odorless. I’m super picky about fish — if there is even a hint of fishiness/seawater taste to my fish I will throw it away after cooking it and taking one bite(this happens with supermarket fish, and the places on Rte 110). It’s never happened with anything bought at Jeff’s. They are also very polite in the store & over the phone. I once called to see if they had scallops and the guy said«yes, but they seem to be going fast today. Do you want me to save you some?» Wow! I said yes, I wanted 10 biggies, and when i got there they handed me a paper bag with my name on it(and most of the case scallops were gone, so it was a good idea they offered that!). I love old-fashioned neighborhood service like that(and i don’t go in all the time, so i wasn’t getting the«Regular» treatment).

I have lived in Centerport for 32 years. When I first looked for a seafood market I went to many in the area. When I saw the line out the door for Jeff’s I knew it was fresh since it did not last long. Yes the store in small and since they only carry the freshest fish, the variety varies. In all these years and I’m talking twice a week, I have never gotten anything but the freshest fish. Although I basically do my own cooking I have tried some of Billy Bob’s, salads, soups and his spinach and feta stuff flounder, this stuff is out of this world.

We hosted our first Christmas Eve dinner this year and got all of the seafood from Jeff’s. A week later my family is still raving on how amazing the food was. The biggest hit was the Frutti di Mare salad. I also highly recommend the seafood pot pie or any of the soups.

After shopping at Marty’s Seafood(review available), a little south(on New York Avenue) from Jeff’s Seafood, I ran into someone who was having a blast playing with my dog and told me that Jeff’s Seafood was much better. I decided to try it. Hum… I did not think that the selection at Jeff’s was as good as Marty’s. In addition, I’ve always liked the fact that at Marty’s, the workers always remember all patrons and give you suggestions as to how to cook the fish, season it, etc in addition to being friendly. At Jeff’s, there was two teenager kids behind the counter. Hum… And Jeff’s place is super small too. I was at Jeff’s and there were about 7 people and all squeezed in the little store area. Marty’s is more open and airy with a couple of tables inside for those who would like to eat there. I can’t find myself switching from Marty’s Seafood to Jeff’s. I just did not find the quality of the fish to be better, did not find the locale to be any better and did not think the service was any better. I will stay loyal to Marty’s Seafood.

I completely agree that Jeff’s doesn’t smell like anything. The place is completely odorless(not even a cleaning solution smell to the air). The only things I’ll ever ask for at Jeff’s are; local and fresh(possibly whole, but not necessary). Jeff’s constantly has fisherman running up into the place with the days catch, so I know that the fish is fresh. I would never buy fish from the seafood counter at the supermarket, and only buy local fish from Jeff’s.

The first thing you should notice about a fish store is the smell. ITSHOUDN’T SMELLLIKEANYTHING!(odor = rotting fish!) Jeff’s is completely odorless :) Jeff’s is awesome. Selection is a bit limited, but you can order anything and they’ll get it for you. Cash only. ;)
