Very small. Not much to do. Its right next to the middle school, soo you can imagine the people there. Most people just go over there too smoke cheap weed and think theyre cool. All in all, needs signifigant improvment

For a small town, HMB actually has a pretty decent skate park. There are a variety of ramps and shit that you don’t always see in town-owned skate areas. In all honesty, I’m surprised that HMB even has a skate park at all because where I come from, the public outcry is insane any time someone suggests opening such a park. You know, vagrants and hooligans and such are supposedly attracted to them? Whatever. I don’t skate anymore because I’m too old and uncoordinated, but I love stopping here to watch the skaters when I’m walking into or out of downtown. As for hooligans and whatnot, I’ve never seen any here… all the kids using the park seem to be courteous of one another.

I was always more of a street skater anyways, so I avoided skate parks like the plague, but I did come across this small little place in Half Moon Bay one day many years back. Yeah it’s small. Yeah it kinda falling apart. Yeah it’s not a «real» skatepark. But what it lacks is also part of its charm. Neighborhood kids would always be impressed when pro skaters from the city came by to pay a visit and skate the park. The people of Half Moon Bay are generally pretty laid back, so it’s nice for us city slickers to show up once in a while. HMB’s Skate Park has a small mini-ramp which is good for beginners and intermediate level skaters who want a little trick practice. The transitions are smooth, and the coping isn’t too beat up. There’s also drop-in ramps and a table top box with accompanying approach ramps for a little variety. My favorite skate park has always been the entire city of San Francisco, with all the hills and well-paved streets, and street cleaning every night to clear the pepples and various obstacles from the asphalt. Half Moon Bay’s skate park, though, has enough charm to lure even this skater from the big city once in a while.
