The Rice Box

This use to be our favorite Chinese restaurant to order from for the last year and a ½. Liked the convenience for pick up. Last Saturday we placed an order and were very disappointed. We orderd pepper steak, beef and broccoli, shrimp and broccoli and chicken egg rolls. The pepper steak was okay, but the egg rolls were tasteless. With the beef and broccoli the beef was mushy as was the shrimp in the shrimp and broccoli, the broccoli in these meals use to be a nice bright green and was tender, now it is dark green and too crispy. The shrimp and broccoli used to come in a nice white sauce, this time it was dark and salty. Everthing we ordered always seemed fresh. The flier noted that it was under new management, enough said. We used to go to Golden China, their quality went and down and we have not gone back. Guess we’ll be looking again.

Overall, «really good». The complaint I hear most about Chinese-​American Cuisine, is that it’s too greasy. At The Rice Box, you will not have that problem. Also, their food is not too heavily seasoned. This should be good for a large number of eaters. Their food is Classic Chinese, and done very well.
On the negative side, their soups are nearly flavorless, and their egg rolls appear to be bought from an outside source and are not very good. With that said, I still give them 4 stars because their entrées more than make up for the appetizers.

It was about 7 p.m. on Christmas night when my grown son and I arrived. The tables were not clean and they had to pick a coke can off our table but did not clean the table. I ordered spicy chicken an shrimp. The dish given to me was bland and tasteless instead. Even the fried rice was tasteless. Good service was lacking because they were short staffed. My son, who had the Happy Family meal said his dish was O. K; that is why I giving two stars instead of one.

I love to get Chinese food every once in a while so I would appreciate good restaurants that serve things fresh as I do have a sensitivity to greasy food and overuse of salt.
The restaurant was clean had a nice restroom, and is great for lunch and dinner.
I was recommended to eat the shrimp and chicken combination plate by the owner, and I’m glad I did because it was delicious! The shrimp was so tasty and they use big plump One and not the small cheap shrimp sizes use yet most Chinese restaurant. Due to my food sensitivity, I always wait to write a review until after I’ve eaten as I can tell you now I feel great as if I are a fresh cooked home meal.
I highly recommend going there for lunch or even getting delivery/​takeout has the menu is quite affordable with mostly everything around the 6 to 7 dollar range.

Disgusting. Delivered chicken that was completely burned. Black, crumbly charcoal. Ridiculous. Go anywhere else.

Coupons! The Rice Box worker/​manager claims that she did not or ever agree to letting this website post coupons for this location, therefore she ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT TAKE IT. Many other people have tried and been rejected as well! Save your money for a different coupon voucher at a different location! We only got a 10% off discount on our entire meal…
Not a very pleasant first experience here. Came in thinking that it wasn’t going to be the typical Chinese «quick, fast, easy, and cheap» cuisines that other places serve.
When my family and I walked in, we were not greeted or acknowledge that we were there, until the worker saw us using the restroom (no public restroom, ONLY for restaurant customers). But she kindly sat us down and took our drink orders immediately. When our drinks arrived, the waitress/​manager took our appetizer and entrée orders, and proceeded in the back making the food and managing phone call orders, all at the same time.
Appetizers Ordered:
–Seafood Soup
–Crab Rangoons
The seafood soup was great. It is big enough for two adults! Comes with a side of fried chips to put into the soup. Tons of flavor! However, the crab rangoons were nothing like crab rangoons. There were absolutely no crab inside the crab rangoons, only cream cheese! That’s it! One of the worst tasting crab rangoons I’ve ever had.
The entrées were good. Nothing special about them. There was an overload of vegetables over meat on the meat dishes. So if you’re a meat eater, I suggest ordering dishes with meat only. Look for the meals that come with steamed or fried rice, it helps make the meal tastier. On the plus side, the portion sizes are big.
As for price range, everything is reasonable. Some items might be a bit pricy, it just really depends.
Service was decent, drinks were occasionally refilled and service wasn’t needed much, but the managers and workers should check up on the customers a bit more often.

Terrible. I have had some terrible Chinese food before but this tops the list. I ordered General Tsos chicken and what I got was a joke. The normally crispy chicken you expect with this dish was hard. It had the consistency of a hard plastic. It was literally inedible. I saved it and let my wife try some and it was so hard at that point she could not swallow it. I wouldn’t even feed it to the dog because he surely would of choked. Do not eat here.

Worst ever! The poor delivery girl assumed all was good, but there was no rice, no sweet sour sauce, no mustard, plastic ware, etc. Egg rolls tasted like used cooking oil. She finally made it back on 2^nd trip, 2 packs of sweet/​sour and 3 mustards. Not her fault. Food was tasteless and Gen Tsaos had no sauce and Veges in it, WTF?

Great new ownership. Dine in is clean, service is friendly and quick and combination lo mein is delicious.

This used to be my favorite restaurant to order Chinese food from. The last two times we’ve placed and order the food was subpar .My egg rolls were undercooked and had burn marks on the outside. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Have carried out from there before and it’s been good. But tonight’s service was atrocious. Drove 20 minutes each way to pick up our order. When I got there they hadn’t even started making it as no one bothered to put the order in the kitchen. After the order was completed, I drove home only to find they didn’t put the red sauce into the bag. Upon calling I was told they would make up a fresh order and bring it to me. When they arrived they only brought a container of sauce to put on an order that by now is totally cold. They lied and figured they’d get away with it. Screw this place!

This place is disgusting!!! the food has absolutely no flavor. The chicken was chewy and gross. There was not a single thing that we ordered that we liked. In fact we had to fight to get our money refunded. They were refusing to refund us even though we had not eaten anything. The customer service was terrible. The owner insulted us by asking «have you ever had Chinese?!» As if we were stupid. I will never return back.

Everything is so much better after they have a different restaurant owner. My friend and I love the food here: D The lady, the new owner is very nice!

The orange chicken is so tender and juicy! Loved it all the way! They had turned me into a regular customer, will definitely come back with more friends.

Ate here last night my son got the beef sticks and fries which were soggy the beef sticks were over cooked and tough. My husband got the walnut chicken which you could definitely tell wasn’t cooked thoroughly as the sugar wasn’t cooked and it was gritty not just a little but a lot, inedible actually. Our almond chicken was bland and again chicken didn’t seemed to be cooked all the way. I gave them two stars because the egg drop soup and Rangoon were actually great and the lady who helped with the order was very nice.

Awful! I don’t even think the chicken I had was actually chicken. The only thing good was the Oreo cheesecake, that would be the only thing I would order from their. I do not suggest this place at all.

Food tasted like it had sat on the burner all day.
Hardly any meat in the entrée’s all damn veggies.

Stay away from this place! Awful food, very rude guy at the counter, and rat droppings everywhere! Worst, dirtiest dining experience I’ve had since moving to Texas.

For Americanized Chinese food, this place is pretty good. There’s barely any authentic Chinese food in this area. So American Chinese food are a dime a dozen. Having said that, this place has great value in terms of food quantity, and the food in general is above average for the category. Delivery can take a little awhile at times, you’re not going to get super fast NYC Chinese food delivery by any means. But for some delivery Chinese food, this is a pretty solid choice in this area. You could do a lot worse.

The girl that helped us tonight was very polite and helpful. She was able to deal with me and my girlfriend lol we are a little high maintenance at times due to us being ADHD! Anyways, she was very helpful and gave great suggestions! We and it just so happened to be my gf birthday today and I guess she over heard me talking about it cause when we opened the bag when we got home there was a box that had happy birthday on it with CHEESECAKE inside! :)
Best day for my gf ever :) we will be visiting the rice box again
