Each time I’ve gone to Ming Garden, I’ve never been disappointed with the quality of the food, which is rare. I tend to go there after working out at the slowly improving Planet Fitness next door. The interior is pretty decent by casual Chinese food restaurant standards. The tables are free of grime, and a small set of wind chimes gently serenades you as you enter, which is pleasant. I only go there during lunch hours, so I always end up getting one of the discounted lunch specials they offer. They never keep the stack of menus flipped to the«lunch» side, and I imagine they do that to trick ignorant customers into buying food at its full price during the lunch hours. On my first visit to Ming Garden, the greeting I received seemed to have an air of suspicion behind it, and I had to pay for the meal before I received it. That struck me as a bit unusual, but I figured that was just their policy. It was the same situation during my second visit, though the greeting was more welcoming that time. Since then, they’ve asked me for the money only after giving me the food. During one of my springtime visits, the chef, who apparently suffers from severe allergies, sneezed six times while preparing my lunch. Each sneeze succeeded in nudging me closer to the exit, but my migration was halted when I got distracted by one of those«Hamptons Real Estate» magazines by the window. On the bright side, he only blew his nose once, so perhaps there was no need for any normal person to worry. Me being me, however, I couldn’t help but have a silent breakdown as I contemplated the potential awfulness of the situation. The food was still good that day, and the chicken was no more mucousy than usual, so I did my best to let it go. Overall, this is a great place to go for Chinese food. The prices are very reasonable and the food has always tasted good. You might just want to consider waiting until after allergy season to get your egg drop soup fix.

I love this place. I’m a vegetarian and they are always so accommodating– letting me build my own combo platters and replacing the regular eggroll with a veggie spring roll. The food is always delicious and ready fast!

Probably the best Chinese take outs in the area. The owner-chef Kevin will work with you and if he has the ingredients will customize a dish. Anything can be made from mild to hot without any issues, things added or substituted easily. The menu is large as are the portions for the price. One of the few places that still lets you take your own duck sauce, mustard, hot sauce etc and doesn’t put 1 or 2 little packets in for an order. Recommended very highly!

Service: took 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged us and the food took 30 min to get to the table. Atmosphere/ambience: as bad as it gets. Food: super greasy, very sugary, nothing special. This place would only be good if you have a massive hangover and you haven’t eaten 3 days.

Pretty good food. Ask for white meat chicken. Lo mein is very good as is the chicken and broccoli. A little pricey but that’s what you get for being in the Hamptons

As lovely as the staff is at Ming Garden, there is a reason for the low prices on their menu. The food is, well, simply awful. I never write bad reviews, as I feel it is mean-spirited, but they honestly need to VASTLY improve the quality and preparation of their food. I’m no «foodie» but I’ve just wasted over $ 20 on take out of what is the worst Chinese food I’ve ever experienced. Even the egg roll was unpalatable, and how tough is it to spoil an eggrole? Anyone else have a good reco for Chinese takeout in the area?

I’ve been taking out from Ming Garden at least 1x/month for several years. It’s so reliably good. Delish, reasonably priced, and the people working there are lovely. Best egg foo young in the area by far, excellent General Tso’s, and most other classics very good. Sesame noodles are not their best thing. Other than that, they bat 1000.

We are kind of disappointed with this place. We have ordered from here three times now. The first two times were okay — a typical Chinese take out restaurant. Really, nothing to brag about. The last time we ordered take out here our order wasn’t ready. We even waited longer than usual to go pick it up. I couldn’t believe it but we had to wait 45 minutes for our order! They were busy and the phones were ringing non stop, which was a problem when I tried to place our order. There were only two people cooking in the back, one of which was the woman answering the phones and packing up the orders. When we got home, we were disappointed in our food. The vegetable lo mein had an overpowering sesame oil taste, the scallion pancakes weren’t crispy at all — completely greasy and tasteless. I mean, the grease was dripping off and they were soaked in the bottom. I think we have to search for our new Chinese take out in the area. Any suggestions???

Best chinese takeout in the hamptons. I have heard that the same people that own this, own a popular chinese restaurant in the area with great food. Their takeout is delicious, crispy — not soggy and reasonably priced. The people behind the counter are so friendly as well and are always giving me free food! It is hard to find good chinese food out east, but this is a place I am sticking to. I drive out of my way to come here :)
