My favorite restaurant in Hampton Roads! The Roganjosh, tikka masala, lasooni Gobi, and tikki chole are items I love and purchase often. The flavors are powerful and have just the right blend! My dining partners tend to get items from the Tandoori oven are always rave about them as well. If you are looking for amazing Indian food, you’ll find it here!

We went there for dinner, its a little upscale restaurant and ambience is good. we ordered paneer chilli for apetizer, goat curry and chana saag for main course. we ordered a pistachio kulfi for dessert, 2 dhaba chai and lassi to go. Not at all disappointed. worth my 1hr drive. One feedback, chana saag was good, but it is not saag it is methi. You may have to change the description on the menu or stick to spinach as per the description.

DREADFULSERVICEANDFOOD. My plate was not washed properly, you can still see little chunk of meat, which was stuck on the corner of my plate and other corner had black dot. I told bus boy what was wrong with the plate and he washes the same plate and brings it back because black dot was still there. I ordered for appetizer and drinks, as soon as I received my drink I placed order for main course. After little while we got appetizer which was okay. But we waited 40+ minutes for the main course, I understand if they were busy but no. We finally get our food and we specifically told her that we want our food hot spicy and it was not. We asked for the manager and she said our manager is out of town, which was a joke. We told her what was wrong with our food and she was arguing with us about that state my that we told her medium spicy. So we told her give us the check so we can leave. And when we got our check it specially says on their that we ordered for hot spice not medium but she was kept arguing. We even found hair in one of the sabji but we didn’t want to hear her arguments so we left it alone and left. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Definitely my favorite Indian restaurant in the area! You really can’t go wrong with any of the dishes here. My wife and I’s favorite dishes are: Tikka Masala, Korma, and definitely the Garlic Naan to go with it. I have also had some of the tandoori dishes which are excellent. The staff is very friendly and the restaraunt has an excellent ambience with the low light and music. Check it out and see for yourself!

This restaurant is fantastic. If you want authentic eclectic Indian food, this is where you should go. I was deployed to Kuwait for 20 months, consecutively. Their food wasn’t even half as good as Monsoon’s. The ambience is lovely and quiet. The staff is friendly and accommodating. This last visit, I got the lamb korma with a spicy level of 3. It was so delicious. I love spicy, but level 3 had my nose dripping lol. I still enjoyed it. I am not a fan of nuts, but the korma has cashews in it. I actually did not mind it. It puts a tasty crunch in the meal. I love their rice. We also got the chicken naan as our appetizer. It was ridiculously tasteful! It comes with a sauce and it’s all so delicious! The other time I went there was during lunch. You pick an appetizer and naan comes with your entrée. It’s super convenient and necessary. I prefer this restaurant above any Indian restaurant and suggest it to anyone craving worthy Indian food.

came again for lunch, a lot quieter and less busy than dinner times. service was great, the older lady was attentive and friendly. the only weird thing is, when the tall male server came by to give us our food… he didn’t set it on the table? Instead, holding it in front of our faces until we physically took it from him to place in front of us. I just thought that was kinda weird. the food is still very good, I chose off the express lunch specials which comes with 2 courses. I started with the pakora(?), fried things of vegetables and it was very good(and good portion). The chicken tikka masala I ordered as mild, and it was great. though I only received maybe 5 – 6 pieces of chicken, it was a good amount. The naan bread was great. I got to try the mango lassi this time, and while it was delicious, I’ll have to stick to the sweet lassi. Great restaurant as always!

We got there five minutes before they closed for lunch at 2:25 and they would not serve us. If they are to close at 2:25 then they should state that on their hours. Will NEVERCOMEHEREAGAINBECAUSEOFHOWRUDETHEYWERE!

Me and my wife are huge fans of Indian food, and the food here is good solid Indian food. It was tasty nothing extraordinary, but rather good solid cooking. My crew tried a couple of different things in the menu, and I loved that you get to choose your spice level, and they had a good variety of different curries, however I’m giving them 4 stars because nothing stood out enough to warrant 5 stars. The food was good and the service was ok. I would definitely recommend them if your in the area and looking for good Indian food.

The only reason they get 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the pushy wait staff. Don’t get me wrong they’re nice, but they’re very pushy(as in, «I need a minute to look over the menu» LITERALLY a minute later, «have you decided?» «not yet» another minute, «are you ready?» «not quite» another minute, «can I help you?» yes yes fine! I will order geez!) The food is top notch, tikka masala was one of the best I’ve had, and the Mango Lassi is a must! Just ignore the pushy waiters and go here anyway, if you’re a fan of Indian food, you won’t be disappointed!

This is not my favorite cuisine so I’m going to be reviewing the service and atmosphere more than the food. The smell of curry was super strong and it was hotter than the hinges of you know where in there. Pretty place beautiful in fact. Waitress didn’t seem to speak or understand much if any English so when I asked her what was in a certain did she answered«yes» lol. The spicy naan was delicious and fresh the yogurt dip delish too but my vegetarian dish was full of heavy curry powder even though the description did not include curry. I hate that taste. Service was minimal no one checked on us and we had to retrieve someone to get the check.

mmmm… so good. Came for dinner and I was actually surprised that there weren’t more people dining tonight. The wait staff was great, checked up on us the right amount of times, weren’t pushy or anything. I ordered the Sweet Lassi drink(only bc I’ve had the mango lassi before, elsewhere), and it was perfect. Loved the little umbrella and cherry. especially loved the amount that they give, enough to last the whole meal with a bit left over. Had the Curry Chicken, and it was great. I asked for«medium-hot», and it was actually the perfect amount of heat. I could actually taste/feel the heat and was glad I had the Sweet Lassi. The naan bread was good as well. Would definitely come back and try their Mango Lassi.

We used to live near this restaurant and we frequented it many times because the food is amazing. The food is consistently good and I’m glad that Monsoon has stayed around in the Peninsula Town Center. I always have the Tikka Masala which is great– the chicken is well flavored and the sauce has a perfect amount of cream in it. The rice that they provide is seasoned with saffron and jasmine I believe which gives it an extra kick. My husband usually gets either the lamb or chicken kabob, this is served with a great helping of vegetables and a side of sauce for dipping. We usually get the garlic naan as well to share with our meals. The staff are friendly and attentive, no complaints there.

Every time I’ve heard of Indian cuisine the word HOT came to mind. While the food can definitely be as spicy as you can imagine, you don’t have to order it that way. I’m not a fan of spicy food but I decided to give this place a shot. It was recommended numerous times by my lovely wife’s co-worker. I chose the lamb seekh kebab. When I say this dish was great it is an understatement. I really enjoyed the food, ambiance and the service was great. Highly recommended!

I give Monsoon 4 ½ stars. Very good, authentic Indian food. Each visit I’ve had a good experience, and the staff is really attentive and very good at explaining the menu and giving their recommendation. Based off of other Indian restaurants that I’ve had in the area, this one definitely surpasses. They are a bit pricey, but the quality of food and service is worth it.

Thank god east Virginia has some AMAZING Indian food. I love Indian food and this place does it right. I ordered take-out, but the atmosphere inside seems perfect for a large group or party. It is very spacious, has a cool vibe, and overall very nice place for a sit down dinner. Veggie Samosas: Piping hot and the filling was very good. It was not overly spicy which I appreciate when it comes to Indian food. Also, it comes with a green chili sauce and a purple/red sauce even when you get it to– go.($ 5, 2 in each order) Chef’s Garlic Chicken Tikka: I’ll was very surprised when I got this dish. I thought it would be a traditional chicken tikka Marsala, but apparently the Marsala comes on the side and there is a bunch of cooked chicken too! The chicken comes on a bed of vegetables. Overall, it was very flavorful and the chicken was juicy. I wonder if it is served the same way when you sit down? Comes with rice.($ 16.50) Garlic Naan: Skip it. Get the regular naan, they were a little heavy handed with the garlic which I wasn’t the biggest fan of.($ 3.50) Galub jamun: So good, perfect dessert– it’s hard to mess this one up since it is a staple, but I am still a big fan!($ 4, 3 in each order) *Tip: Order online and get $ 10 off your next order! I’m already thinking about what I’m getting next. :)

It was my husband’s birthday, and our friend was in town. We decided to go to monsoon because we were all down for some Indian food and it was fairly close to home. As always the first thing i looked at was the kids meals and as always i was a little disappointed. Not knowing what she would like we ended up ordering vegetable pilaf for her since she can eat rice all day every day. I ordered the mixed plate and wow, not only was the presentation of it awesome(they set out on fire before putting it down on the table!) But it was also very very good! Husband had some curry thing … or something. Didn’t try it because it was too spicy and yeah me and spicy don’t agree. The service was really good, the restaurant wasn’t full so they were attentive and fast. Almost forget to mention the naan plate. I mean. I would go back everyday for that naan bread. I love naan! I’d definitely go back.

I can’t say that I am an aficionado of Indian food, but I think these guys set the bar for other restaurants to follow. There are three things that I can’t stand at some Indian restaurants: curt service, overpriced offerings, and sparse descriptions of the grub. I am so pleased to say that none of those is a problem at Monsoon. They have to be some of the friendliest guys I have ever met. They are more than willing to strike up a conversation with you and enjoy a few laughs while they serve you some incredible food. The prices are gonna run higher than a sports bar, but that’s what you pay when you go to a nice place like this. Hint: take a significant other here for some great happy hour specials and a nice dinner at the bar and allow the bartender to surprise you with a cool cocktail on the cheap. Lastly, let’s talk about the menu. Everything is described perfectly. I took my boys here for their anniversary celebration deal and they didn’t have any problems knowing exactly what they were going to get. Why is that a big deal? Because they had NEVER had Indian cuisine before. They walked away happy with their choices and enough food to take home that dinner was covered the next day. Don’t overlook this great spot. It’s easily one of the best in the Peninsula Town Center.

Wow, this is great Indian food. As good as anything I had when I was in London and that’s saying something. Nice fancy location, I was greeted and brought to a quiet table. My waiter took my beer order(a «Flying Horse Royal Lager») and then my dinner order when the beer was delivered. It was nice to see something other than the usual Kingfisher, Tiger and Mongoose on the menu, that’s for sure! A short time later, a mildly spicy crispy chat arrived. More than enough for two to share as an appetizer, this was tasty and crunchy and had a really good flavor to it. Very nice texture as well. Delish. For mains, I went with the lamb rogan josh at three star spicy. It was quite hot, but the cucumber and yogurt riata really helped me to enjoy the flavor without burning my mouth. Lots of sauce, lots of nice chunks of lamb. Yes, a little fat on the lamb but not too much that i was concerned. The garlic and chilli naan bread that I ordered was also perfect. A little blackened and crunchy as naan is supposed to be, it was very tasty and went well with the spicy food. Would I return to Monsoon? You betcha!

I decided to treat my best friend to authentic Indian food. The exterior of the building is elegant and the décor inside is amazing. The paint colors are soothing and pleasing to the eye, the artwork throughout the restaurant is beautiful, the bar area is designed to flow with the dining area, the dining area is pleasant. The service was so-so. The hostess frowned as we entered and we felt her love — Smiles! Not to be deterred by not feeling welcome. We sat down and ordered. We started with a good wine and meat kebabs. The wine was mildly chilled. The spicy meat kebabs were barely warm and lacking in taste. We left most of them on the plate. I ordered the chicken tikka marsala and it came to the table swimming in a bright orange curry — like sauce. The meat pieces were pale so this meat was not simmered in the sauce to absorb any flavor. I plucked out the meat out of the sauce and ate some chicken and rice before asking for a carryout container. My bestie ordered Dhaba style curry. It came out with the same bright orange sauce on it but the meat chunks were a little darker but the chunks were not the lamb or goat as stated in the explanation of the menu. Hmmm. We should not have had the same bright orange sauce in two very different dishes. We know it was the same because we tasted each other’s sauce, no difference. At that point, I did not need my formal training as a food service officer just my taste buds to confirm that they were serving us whatever they felt like putting on our dishes thinking we did not know the difference — Very upsetting. We topped off the night by ordering their dessert platter. Some of the offerings were delicious. The pistachio kulfi, the mango pudding, and the gajar halwa were tasty but the last item was like coconut in spoiled milk I think it was supposed to be rasmalai. The hostess was extremely punctual with the bill. Our waitress command of the English language became crystal clear when she let me know there would be any free refills for my Chai tea. As a tea/coffee lover I thought to myself — Duh! I told her that I understood but I still want more tea. She shrugged and went to get the tea. I won’t slam dunk this restaurant because they obviously treat some custome better than we were treated. No worries I will gladly spend my next $ 88.00 more wisely in the future. Bummed out in Hampton. I tipped 20%, the waitress smiled a lot, and deposited the takeout containers in the handy trashcan on Market Street as I exited the quaint little area. As they say, this too will pass!

Great spot for cheap but elegant lunch buffet! Both the atmosphere and food are great! Modern, clean, fresh, tasty, simple,… After noon, this place gets really busy. You should go there earlier. I had a coupon Buy one get one free. Really good deal. $ 10 for 2ppl:) Parking lot is everywhere around the restaurant but $ 1.5/h. The staffs are not that friendly. They don’t smile. But they take care well. I wanna go back there again soon. Many business men were there.

We had lunch there today; partook of their lunchtime special. We had Pakora and Chat of the day to start and then Salmon Korma and Lamb Palak to follow. This was the best curry I have had in America — asked for 3(out of 5) on the spicy scale and it was perfect.
