Of all the pierogi I’ve sampled in Hamtramck, Stan’s is far and away the best. They have a large selection of homemade sausages and meats, and a small selection of grocery items, fresh bread, and paczki in the morning. The clerk was very nice and friendly and definitely a native English speaker, which I’m only noting after reading someone else’s review who was frustrated by a Polish speaking clerk. You can pick up and drop off UPS packages there, too. It certainly isn’t a complete grocery store, but is well worth the trip for some of their incredible homemade pierogi.

Their pierogi is terrific and fresh. They make it on-site and put it in the display case. Whatever doesn’t sell within one day goes to the freezer in back. Also, they make these wonderful little meat«pies» that taste just like city chicken; 75 cents each. Service can be sketchy but what they make and have is really good.

The liverwurst is amazing… the kizka is very good. They do sell 6 packs or more of Polish/European beers but a limited selection. As the other reviewer wrote, the service is good yet the emotional response very stoic. Not the big smile, customer service many are accustomed to but that is what makes this different. I do feel like I am at a small European shop.

Awkward step brother indeed! It’s a convenient store and a food market – I guess. Service comes with that crisp, though not really friendly, Eastern European flare which translates to cold faces bearing cold expressions. It really helps to speak Polish here. I’ll take my consumer dollars down the street where I know the food is made onsite.

The awkward step-brother of Hamtramck markets, Stan’s is basically a convenience store that also has Polish food. The pierogi and kiszka are nice, but I’m not sure if they are made onsite. OK selection of beer, but I think they only have single bottles. Decent selection of juice, pop, snacks… most of which are imported from Poland. Service is quick, attentive, and polite.
