The drinks are a tad on the expensive side but well worth it for the atmosphere and awesome electronic music nights. The patrons are very friendly and a community had loosely formed here among the regulars. Unfortunately all good things must come to an end and THC closed a couple of weeks ago.

I stopped in to the trowbridge a few weeks ago for a small techno event which turned out to be a flop. I wasn’t upset for going in though. While I was waiting for the crowd to pick up(which never happened) I ordered a few drinks and some food. The whiskey here is reasonably priced but your selection is limited. I got stuck drinking Knob Creek which is not on my favorites list. I switched to beer rather quickly and was pleased to find out they have Atwater’s Vanilla Java Porter on tap here. They get a full star for that. I ended up ordering a Beef sandwich with some type of BBQ sauce on it. I was hoping the sauce was just on top of the meat, but it was more in the smothered pulled pork style. The sandwich wasn’t terrible though because it was saved by a wonderful sub bun. The highlight of the meal by far was the vingrette slaw. I am a little bit of a slaw fan and I will occasionally order something with vinigrette, but the way they combined the two was perfect!!! I will definetly try to make it back here to try a different sandwich that can hold it’s own against that slaw. The bar is a nice little place unlike many of the lesser kept places in the neighborhood. The bartender that was there on my visit seemed to know his whiskey and beer pretty well also. 1 star for the slaw, 1 star for the beer, 1 star for the bread and atmosphere.

Apparently this place JUST opened this month. Which is surprising… wasn’t the Hamtramck Coney in this location? Crazy how quickly that turn around happened. It looks almost the same as the old Hamtramck Coney did, sans all the booths and the addition of a stage area. I can see how they’re gearing the place up to be a great little music venue with more to offer both artists and guests alike. In retrospect, it makes sense why I didn’t like the latte initially; have you ever been to a chain restaurant that just opened up, say… a Mc D’s, and ordered something you’ve ordered a lot, but this time it takes 20 mins for your order to come out, and when it finally does it’s all wrong? Yeah, Trowbridge is like that. But that’s okay. If they’ve only been open a couple weeks, they need time to get the hang of it. The latte sucked because of inexperience, not crappy ingredients. That’s a difference you can taste! I’d say, stop in initially, and check back in by the end of summer when they get their café(and their website!) in order. This could be a great place indeed.
