Surprised by the negative reviews. We went for my birthday and had a great time! Horses are all gorgeous and impressively well trained, if you’re knowledgeable you’ll be thrilled by the dressage and airs above the ground performances. Knights are all charming and play to the crowd well, very athletic and skilled riders and mêlée combatants. The performance is long(about 2 ½ hours) and actually has a storyline — I was just expecting Ren Faire-type jousting but there’s quadrille-type riding, a falconry demonstration with the bird flying at liberty around the arena(beautiful!), hand to hand swordplay and a plot in which an enemy lord demands the princess’ hand in marriage and the knights duel to choose a champion to battle the intruder. The show is well paced and even little kids seemed excited the whole time.(Only slow part is the announcement of *five pages* of names of birthday kids, but I guess parents pay extra for that, so whatever. At least the staff are allowed to joke about it.) Don’t know why anyone(except vegetarians I guess) would insult the food. It’s nothing special, but it’s well cooked and there’s plenty of it. The tomato soup is fine(it’s not bisque, but it’s still good), and you get a whole half chicken, a meaty rib(both quite well cooked), seasoned roast potatoes and an apple turnover. Certainly as good as you could expect given the concept, and a lot better than I’d been led to believe! There is a big gift shop that’s got lots of tacky stuff, but kids will probably love it. Only complaint I had was a long wait at the bar, and that’s probably because the people ahead of me were buying drinks for their whole group; I had the house cabernet and enjoyed it. I think people are way too cynical and trying to make fun of this whole concept, and that’s not fair. Go there to have fun and see the pretty horses, and you’ll have a good time.

It’s fun for kids. The show is OK, there is some humor, and the food is just OK. The kids love it though(two boys, aged 6).

A great place to go if you would like to celebrate mediocrity. Mediocre food(decent chicken, salty gag-inducing soup, etc), so-so melo-drama, forced cheering for«your knight,» etc. Would only be one star, but the part where the hawk flies around close to the crowd is actually pretty cool. A gift certificate to this place is an excellent thing to give to someone you neither like nor dislike. Or, take a date that you really don’t care if you ever go out with again.

This is where Ren-fest freaks go the other 50 weeks of the year. The food is… blah, at best. The entertainment is… not that entertaining. The acting is… bad. Overall, theme restaraunts sacrafice quality for some crappy gimmick, and end up not being very good at any aspect of what they are trying to do. However, it is mildly entertaining to laugh at the people who work there.
