Very great animal shelter! My husband and I took a whole day with a prepared list to go find the perfect dog for us. Our first stop was here and it turned out to be the only stop! Coming in the shelter, very clean. On the left is cats and the right is the dog kennels. The workers were mostly friendly, volunteers there VERY nice and knowledgable of the animals. We walked in the dog kennels, dogs that were there had lots to minimal information up. Two dogs were quiet and laid the whole time we walked down the row, the rest of the dogs were barking, jumping or wagging their tale. We were going to see one dog but he started growling so decided not. Then my husband saw our dog, Blue. He was laying in the kennel, water in a huge cleaned cat litter storage box. When you looked at him he looked down at his paws. The lady up front asked if we had other dogs or kids at home and then the volunteer took him out. Totally different dog once he got into the yard. Shy but absolutely loving the grass and being out of that loud place. We weren’t sure so we went back to the car but I couldn’t leave, my husband said we could get him so we walked back in and got him for $ 10. They had Blue for a week. They didn’t have any information about him other than they had tried to catch him before and some lady in a trailer park caught him finally and called them. They told us he was probably fixed but to double check with the vet. Then they told us that we had to get him a rabies vaccination and microchipped all within seven days. They had information to a cheaper vet but we chose a different vet. The first appointment to get the rabies and microchip was hard because he was still so shy and scared of everything. I wish they gave us a couple weeks instead for us to get him at least microchipped but they explained that it was Killeen law and that is where we live. It is a great center, I would recommend it to any family who are looking for a furry friend.

Never bought a animal from here but I follow there Facebook page. They are always trying to get animals out of there shelter and into good homes. Love when shelters do that.

After doing some volunteer work here I got to experience how wonderful the people were and how well they take care of the animals. I ended up adopting a lovely cat after volunteering there for awhile. Please donate towels and food, help the people out and be a hero! Adopt!

Very nice adoption center. The staff is great. They are knowledgeable and friendly. We adopted our amazing Daisy from the cat room. We are now regular donors. They need towels and blankets for the animals. We have also taken pet food into the shelter. Give a shelter cat a chance.

I came here to «just look» at a chihuahua named Candy whom I’ve seen up for adoption on a local volunteer Facebook adoption page. Who am I kidding? As soon as she walked up to the gate to lick my hand, it was love at first sight… I had to have her. Now, she’s one spoiled pup that never has to live her life in fear or uncertainty any longer.
It appears that this shelter is well-​kept and the staff are very friendly and helpful. But, let’s face it – this is a kill shelter and these unfortunate animals await your adoption or else.

*** It’s advised that you take your newly adopted pet to be checked out by a veterinarian. I took mine to Killeen Veterinary Clinic and found that they had a discounted Well Animal Adoption Program that includes: wellness exam, rabies vaccine, heartworm test, pain management injection (if needed), and spay/​neuter.
