Great happy hour beer specials but food menu is kind of scary. Good company and always a fun time. I would go to get a drink and get a cheers like environment. Just may have to go elsewhere once you are hungry.

I’ll start out on a positive note. Anthony’s has one of the best happy hour specials going. Friday and Saturday 4pm-6pm, half off all drinks, and free pizza! Unfortunately, the happy hour special doesn’t compensate for their downfalls. The vast beer selection tends to be a bit overwhelming if you aren’t already knowledgeable about the beers. Usually the bartender is annoyed if you have a question, and the service level typically ranges from mediocre to non-existent. You might get great service if you are one of the favored regulars. It seems to be a very cliquey environment. Also, the free pizza is ok, but not necessarily an incentive to make Anthony’s your day-bender destination. The deal breaker for me, however, is the lousy atmosphere. It doesn’t have anything going for it, and some of the patrons are insufferable. I recommend going across the street to Zembies. Or if you want to have some good craft beer, visit Zeroday Brewery on Reilly Street in the midtown section, where you’ll get a better vibe and feel welcome.

The beer selection is amazing, the prices are great, the happy hour is unbelievable, and the service… perfect! Are you sure this place is downtown Harrisburg PA? Lol!

Anthony’s is my favorite bar in Harrisburg. Anytime I go out in the City, I always stop here. Happy hour is worth the crowd, though the beer prices overall aren’t bad. Beer selection is awesome and is constantly changing, though when kegs kick, they are gone for the night. Food is good — I recommend the Stromboli or pizza. It’s bar food but it is always good. I love the service — the bartenders are encouraged to joke and socialize with customers which really adds to the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

Ten friends and I came here on a Saturday afternoon in between a wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. We walked in right off the street not knowing what to expect. It was a dark, but clean dive bar. We commandeered 3 tables in the back and were quite pleased with the vast selection of draft beers. There was only one bartender working and though she was super busy, she was still very friendly. I started with the Sea Dog Blueberry Wheat Ale and eventually we all ended up with shots of fireball. The touch tune jukebox was an added bonus and we loved picking songs from our seats with the phone app. Unbeknownst to us, happy hour on Saturday begins at 4pm with half priced drinks and FREEPIZZA! We were all thrilled about the free pizza, it doesn’t get much better than that!

People were right about the beer selection. I don’ know if I’ve ever had that many IPA choices before. Pizza was tasty. Bartender friendly and very knowledgable. Owner cooking pizzas and a fun guy to talk to. I am from the west coast on business; I will be back

My favorite little dive bar in Harrisburg. Great beer selection(til they run out of Two Hearted…), awesome NY style pizza, and a refreshingly depressed cast of regulars and bartenders that make it the perfect little place to drown your sorrows, play some Tom Waits on the jukebox, and argue about the merits and pitfalls of the gold standard with a guy lovingly called Hippy Dave.(Or Little Dave, Inappropriate Dave, Orchestra Dave… There’s a lot of Johns too.) Daily drink deals for those on a budget, half priced beers from 4 – 6, and trivia night on Mondays.

We had planned to come here while visiting the weird little hamlet of Harrisburg PA specifically because they came up as a craft beer bar on Unilocal. We planned to get brunch, and head over since it opened a bit later. But when we walked by, someone was setting up tables outside. We asked if they served brunch(they don’t), BUT they recommended us to a little place up the street that did. We had planned to come back to check this place out, but this bit of kindness secured that for us. When we came back, the bartender, Hannah, greeted us and asked us how our experience at the brunch place was. Thus began our afternoon of awesomeness led by our beer cap-itan, Hannah. This places tap list is great. LOTS of stuff from all over PA, and some other great breweries from out of the area. Since we were the only people in there for about an hour, we got to pick Hannahs brain about what to try and she even mixed her specialty for us. The prices here are decent, but since the vibe and staff is so great, you might end up spending more than you like. Worth it. When you go here(when, not if), ask for Hannah. And if she’s working, as her for her combo that tastes like blueberry pancakes.

This is probably one of the best places for draft beer in Harrisburg. From 4−6pm everyday is happy hour with half priced microbrews. Yes, that’s early on the weekdays, but Saturdays and Sundays the hours are the same! That makes for some day drinking, which is why I like to frequent this place in the waning days of fall and winter. The happy hour crowd is always a nice mix of folk and typically not too obnoxious. Most people just either want to enjoy the beer, the game or the company. Free pizza is a plus on Saturdays. It’s actually not as bad as one would imagine. Pretty tasty, not the greatest, but the slices are generous and they always have a selection of meat and vegetarian toppings. The service can get a bit backed up, but the bartendress works her butt off. There is usually only one bartender on duty for most of happy hour. She’s attentive and knowledgeable. Hey, it’s half price. I can personally wait for my $ 3 Founders or Yards. I don’t think they serve flights, but the prices are that cheap that if you get a beer you don’t particularly enjoy, you can always pawn it off to a friend. A nice way to try new selections on tap without breaking the bank. Now that cold weather is setting in, can’t wait for another Anthony’s HH.

Interesting place. Came in after strolling through the Artsfest along the river. Beer selection is huge! Fiancéé loved both his picks. If I’m not mistaken they were two different chocolate stouts. They ran out of the first beer he ordered after only being able to fill ¾ of the glass and they let him have it for free. Pretty cool. Bartender was nice and very knowledgeable about all the beers(which was awesome because there were so many of them). Onion rings weren’t homemade and it was kind of a bummer when we received the order. Also, almost $ 5 for very little quantity of bagged onion rings? Sad. «Interesting» mix of customers. All in all, good beers and good service. Will maybe order something else next time to see if we have better luck.

When I saw this place from down the street i was not sure what we would be getting. We diced to stop in on a whim and boy am I glad that I did. They boast over 70 beers on tap. The staff is knowledgable and knows what every beer tastes like and based on what you were looking for, are able to give great suggestions. We went on a Thursday night, but they have great Friday deals. Free pizza and 50% off most beers. Even without that, you won’t find this place to be expensive. You are allowed two free tasters of the beers on tap so you can be daring and try something new. They have a good selection of imports, stouts, porters, IPAs, Lagers, and Ales. They even have a few more Saisones than you would typically see. They have Boddingtons on tap which is always a treat. And they have two beers on cask. If you like beer, this is definitely a place you must go.

The happy hour here is phenomenal! On Fridays, not only do you get 50% off their selection of almost 100 craft beers, but you also get FREE quality pizza! Such a great find, thanks to Unilocal. My friend and I had the Dogfish Punkin and a double IPA which I think was by Anderson Valley. Both beers were great and very reasonably priced at less than $ 4 a glass. I was also surprised that they served us the double IPA in a full pint glass because it was almost 9% alcohol – yikes! The pizza was really good. They had veggie, pepperoni, and cheese, and my friends and I wolfed down a few slices each.

Not really sure what to think. Happy hour is 4−6pm…kind of hard to get there when I work till 5pm & am at least a 30 min drive; my recommendation would be to extend it to 7pm like the rest of the HBG bars. It’s advertised ‘free pizza’ but that’s only on Friday & Saturday… I was there on a Thursday. :(Their craft selection is definitely large & awesome; although when I ordered the beer I wanted they were out of it & the bartender mentioned a few others they were out of… odd, didn’t know they didn’t keep all the beers stocked all the time. We ended up getting mixed drinks(yeah, I know — exactly opposite of why I went there) but after realizing there wasn’t pizza to be had & my beer choice was unavailable, we went elsewhere. I’m sure I’ll be back but maybe not right away.

I’ve always enjoyed this place for it’s craft beer selection. I mean they’ve got something for everyone in here, even if you don’t know it yet! Can’t speak to the food much, although I did enjoy the wings here. All I know is, happy hour at Anthony’s is well worth it if you’re a beer snob!

The Harrisburg area is certainly lacking in a few things, but great happy hours for cheap craft beer is not one of them. This is one of the couple of places downtown that do half off craft beer during happy hour EVERYDAYOFTHEWEEK. And yes, that includes Saturdays and Sundays. And not only do they have happy hour on Saturday and Sunday, they serve you free pizza while they serve you cheap, high quality beer. Is there anything better than drinking three Hopslams, eating decent enough pizza, and closing your tab for a total of $ 12 with tip? If there is, I have yet to find it. The bartenders are extremely friendly and keep beer in your glass even when things start to get extremely busy, which is very impressive considering there is usually only one bartender on. The gentleman who makes pizza in the back is also a really nice guy. Not a bad environment to watch a game either, overall just a really great place for happy hour.

This place has an amazing beer selection — 72 beers on tap. There is no list online though, but they have something for everyone. I am a cider lover, and they have three types(woodchuck, original sin, and a local one called something jacks) and a god variety of wheat beers(my other love, both hefeweizens and fruit wheat beers). Apparently they have free pizza until 6 or something, but I avoid that kind of thing. Because I was there during free pizza time, it was crazy crowded. My main complaint is the loud, too much bass music that makes talking a mess. I just don’t want a bar I am going to to sound like a dance club. Other than that, had a nice time here, great for drinks with a friend!

We were in Harrisburg and were looking for a good place to stop for dinner. Tried Troegs and discovered it’s moved to Hershey. Appalachian was closed temporarily, leaving us with no other brewery choices, so we sought out Anthony’s and are so glad we did! The 72 beers on tap offer something for everyone and lucky us, we got there during happy hour! Not only were they cheaper than normal, the last one my hubby ordered was on the house. Not too shabby for out-of-towners! We also ordered a tomato and bacon pizza that was phenomenal! The guy who made it was so nice and speedy. Just as Shannon, the bartender, was! Special Note: After HH, we watched the crowd dissipate quickly. It went from one extreme to the other, so if you’re looking for people watching, go between 4 – 6, if not, go before or after!
