Food was good; service was poor at best. Waiter took our order and didn’t come back until we had to ask him for the bill. He didn’t ask how our food was when it came out; nor did he come to refill the carafe of water that ran out 15 minutes into the meal. We came in on a Tuesday night and the restaurant was pretty empty. Disappointed.

I don’t personally like the penne vodka, but that’s just me. The calamari wasn’t bad and the potatoes and short rib was also okay. The potatoes were mediocre but generally not a bad meal.

Amazing! The staff is friendly and the food is great! I had the buffalo wings and they were delicious and crispy! My mother is gluten free and the chef said they can make anything gluten free! I also had the chocolate lava cake and it was soft and warm. All dishes were presented in a beautiful way and were all yummy. If you’re ever in the area, try hamsters bar and grill.

Lived in harrison my entire life and have not heard of this place. Drove by one night when we were super hungry and decided to try it. So happy we did! Ordered muscles as an appetizer and chicken franchise as my entrée and they both were to die for. Kurt the bartender is awesome too!

I went with a friend for lunch on a Saturday using groupon. My expectations were not high for when entering the place was empty. The service was attentive and personable. Our waiter, Pasquale, was wonderful. Only negatives was my friend’s fork was dirty(was replaced right away) and just butter or olive oil for bread(I love dipping sauces and just oil does by cut it). The food was really good our apps were the mozzarella caprese, yum and calamari diablo(good but not as spicy as I like) I ordered the salmon It was cooked perfectly and the spinach was simple but tasty. My friend got the shrimp parmigiana again the dish was yummy and the shrimp were a great size. I would go back without a groupon. The appetizers were very large serving sizes. The lunch entrees were perfect but I imagine the dinner portions to be as large as well.

Came in last weekend for dinner with friends. They live in the area and have been here before so i told them i will Unilocal about it so here i am. Our waiter sorry i didnt get his name was very attentive if we were low on a bottle of wine made sure the next pinot grigio we got was chilled! For appetizers my friends were raving about the calamari scarpiello. The portion was a decent size. But i was not super impressed it sounded amazing but this time it was very vinegary and the calamari were too cooked and saturated. I was hoping for a crispy calamari and a light drizzle of the scarpiello but that wasnt the case. I give that dish a 3⁄5 I ordered the special stracciatella soup. It came out with the appetizers which is what i wanted. The soup was amazing! This was definitely made fresh. I would order this in a heartbeat next time! Soup gets 5⁄5!

Halstead’s is such an incredible place for lunch/dinner and was the perfect place for us to have our rehearsal dinner. From the orrechiette with broccoli rabe and sausge, to the short ribs and mashed potatoes, you really cannot go wrong with this menu. Having been here many times for dinner before, never being disappointed, and always loving the food, it is always the easy choice for us. John, the owner, was so responsive to all of our questions and emails and very flexible with the menu as we had vegetarian as well as gluten free requirements for our guests. We rented out the back room and had our own bartender who was so friendly. The food was so incredible and we received so many compliments on the restaurant itself. The back room was beautifully yet simply decorated. We enjoy going to Halstead’s for a night out to dinner and could not be more thrilled with having our rehearsal dinner there. We highly recommend this wonderful restaurant for dinner or to rent out the space for any occasion.

Had a buffet style event here. The estimate the Manager gave me clearly states wine, soda, mimosas. I was quite shocked that only one bottle of RED wine was put on the table, no WHITE. When I asked the Maitre’D for white wine for our table he said, «how many glasses?» I said we’d like a bottle for the table, he gave me one carafe. Never came back once to replenish the wine bottles. Both were empty. One pitcher of Coke was put on each table with one pitcher of water. No choice of Sprite of Seltzer. I asked for a pitcher of seltzer with lemons. He put two lemon slices in a pitcher. When that was empty the bus boy came and took the pitcher and filled it up with water. He couldn’t understand when I said it’s Seltzer NOT water. The food served at the Buffet was so minimal, I was embarrassed to be a host. The portion of eggplant was tiny, the chicken marsala was two small pieces, and the salmon was about 1 ½ inches in length and 1 inch wide. Quality of the food was barely adequate. The penne vodka which they were somewhat generous with was tasteless and dry. The salad was the best part of lunch. We were told by the manager that it would be okay to put trays of cookies /cupcakes on the tables(individual plates for each table). When I went to go get the plates to bring on each table, The Maitre’D picked up the plates from me in such a way that all the cupcakes tipped over. I got very annoyed and told him that I was able to carry these eight plates from my house to here w/o spilling one plate. Look what you managed to do in one second. I found him to be rude, and unwilling to give you what you were promised. We were told the cookies and fresh fruit would be on plates and served to the table. They were NOT. They were put on a large tray and left on the buffet table. The cake wasn’t even brought to the guest, they had to get up and get their own cake. Tea was promised but never OFFERED. When dinner was ready the Maitre’D came by the table and said«get up» One of my guests said to him«GETUP?» He goes for food. Just RUDE. He made some nasty comment as we were bringing gifts out the back door about the dumpsters. I said don’t worry, I have intention of going near them. He also banged into me several times. Very unprofessional. He is supposed be accommodating, not offensive. There were no waiters either, more like bus boys that didn’t understand English. For a lunch buffet, the cost of $ 48pp for the amount of wine and food they served was very expensive. The service there is non-existent. They probably laughed at their windfall of what was paid to them before we even got in our cars. There are many other restaurants that will give you what you were promised. It’s no wonder this place is always empty. If you are looking for place to have a party, go elsewhere. I will not be ever be going back.

I am giving this three stars only because we had a great time at disco night this past Saturday. We could have had appetizers and been done. the main course was not good… the appetizer we had was mussels not tasty at all some not opened at all(cant eat those) had an awful taste… they have salads and instead of steak on a salad they have a hamburger choice well make it look presentable. they served me the hamburger on one dish and the salad on another… and what restaurant runs out of Malbec on a Saturday night… next time they have a dj they should make a set menu with a few appetizer choices, a few entrée choices and a dessert… to much going on with the dj starting to play people getting up to dance… they should not use their regular menu in this situation. Also the dj charged a cover, so if your paying for dinner, drinks and a cover it gets pricey… otherwise we had a great time just need to review the menu options in this kind of event… and switch the hamburger to steak over salad much better idea…

Came here last nite for dinner Very nice place. A smaller menu but had nice sounding dishes on it. The nicest waiter ive ever had hands down. There were a lot of specials that sounded great. I had the Buffalo Mozzarella appetizer & for dinner had the Chicken & eggplant with mozzarella over gnocchi in a light brown sauce also a special. Very good The mozzarella was made fresh & melted in your mouth. The chicken & eggplant was very tender you could cut it with the fork The gnocchi was fresh & the sauce was very good I liked that they didn’t bury the gnocchi in the sauce it was just enough. My friend had the balsamic chicken off the menu that was very good tender & the balsamic sauce was amazing. Prices were very reasonable & for a 1st time visit the espresso & lemonchello were on the house. I very rarely go out for this type of food but it was very good & id go back again

This restaurant has been open a few months now and when I was last at the Harrison Wine Vault(4*‘s BTW), I saw the restaurant and was reminded to give it a try. So we went by last Saturday to give it a try as I’m all for new dining options in the area. Unfortunately, this was my first and also my last time at Halstead’s. There are too many much better options in the area to waste a buck here. The food was fine, but not memorable, because if you’re going to serve Italian fare in Harrison, Mamaroneck, Rye, it must be memorable. My son ordered a pizza with a dough-y thick crust, which is criminal. Definitely not brick oven, as advertised. My wife and I ordered chicken with vinegar and peppers which was fine, and my daughter got the linguini w. clams and white sauce. My advice would be to reduce the portion size and step up the quality. Further, the first two bottles of wine we ordered were sold out so we had to resort to our third choice, so there’s a bit of an issue with their inventory. That said the wine list, if stocked, would have been fine. And lastly, the waiter. While this has nothing to do with the food, it has everything to do with my decision to return, and he was a big reason for my 2 star ranking. He was inattentive and bordered on being rude. I gave a 15% tip, which would have been less, but we are hoping that he shared our tip with the busboy, as he was great. He similed, was friendly, and paid attention to his customers. My review won’t close the restaurant, but I’m hoping someone from Halstead’s reads this and decides to improve the dining experience.

I was interested in this place because I pass by it all the time. At 7pm on a Friday night it was just about empty. Myself and my girlfriend chose to sit in a bar area booth rather than the empty dining room. The bar area was nice. The long bar really stands out. Probably the longest I’ve seen in Westchester. As soon as we were seated, the waiter asked for a drink order. Had to slow him down a bit to see what was being offered first. The first thing that stood out to me was no beer list, We were given a wine list with our menus, which I assumed on its reverse side would include a list for, what appeared to be 8 – 10 beers on tap at the bar. Even sitting in the bar area, there was nothing apparent as to what was being served, so a trip to look at the taps was required. It revealed a nice selection, so they shouldn’t be afraid to let people know. The menu, while being full of choices and diverse is also predictable and lacks imagination.(Although the tripe, I have to admit was a surprise.) There are items on this menu that this area just does not need any more of: fried calamari, wings, wraps, chicken francese and scarpariello, penne vodka. All these things have been done to death in Westchester, so it’s a shame to see a new restaurant go down the same road. Second thing that stands out is no specials. I like to see specials. Especially a fresh seafood special. A specials board shows customers that there is an enthusiastic chef in the kitchen that has fresh ideas and uses fresh ingredients. Take what you want from that. A few menu items stood out. I had the mussels fra diavolo appetizer, which while having a very good sauce, it was over some of the worst selection of mussels I have seen in a restaurant. They were tiny, tasteless, and not of a restaurant quality and shouldn’t have been served. I went with the braised short rib that was cooked in a goulash type sauce. It was good and cooked right, as were the mashed potatoes. The portion was quite large and enough to take some home. My girlfriend had the scallops with risotto, which was good but not great. I would be back here only if there was an updated menu with daily specials.

On Friday September 12, 2014 my family had a surprise 60th birthday party for me here. There was a large room in the back where the party was held. I cannot say enough about the food that was served, it was absolutely delicious. Chicken wings, crab cakes, cocktail franks and pizza was passed around followed by a buffet which included calamari, penne vodka, chicken marsala, salad and antipasti. There were 90 quests and there was a lot of room also for dancing which we did all night! The service was wonderful. The next day my friends and family called to tell me how much fun they had and how they loved the place and the food! Wonderful memories for my 60th thank you for making my night special! I think some of the reviews on here are not giving this establishment a fair chance. I been their a few times. Its very a very casual and friendly place. They have a Sports Bar with Big Screen TV’s up front that is pretty classy and pub like. I had dinner and have tried the Burger and the Short Ribs entrees. They both were very good. The service was good too. I will go back…

I was shocked to see the one star review about this place which, in my opinion, seemed deceptive & intent on doing damage to this wonderful newcomer in Harrison. We ordered the Grilled Angus Burger($ 14) which was mouthwateringly flavorful. We also had the Chicken Scarpariello THEBESTEVER, the Crab Cakes & the Margherita pizza with perfect crust. All were cooked to perfection & the service was spot on. We are gong back next week for a family event.

To start I wish I could give this place a ZERO star but Unilocal won’t allow that. My husband I are foodies with a penchant for quality meals and after the most magnificent first Saturday of the summer we decided to grab some burgers at the«new place in town». Upon sitting down we examined their tap list by sight(not included on any drink menu) and noticed they had blue moon, Sam Adams, Yonkers IPA, Heineken, Stella, captan Lawrence pale ale, and PBR. PBRREALLY! Not to mention on a Saturday night at 5pm they were out of the best beer they has on tap –cl pale ale After examining the menu I ordered the«angus burger» rare with bacon and cheese. I had high hopes for this burger as it was $ 16.00. I would hope that any burger which a chef charges $ 16.00 for the chef might actually take pride in. When the burger came out and it looked like a GMO crusted hockey puck. I understand restaurants may not always choose organic beef, but at LEAST make your own burger from real ground beef onion powder etc and not use frozen crud. Additional to the lack of quality of the obviously pre frozen half pound burger, it came with ONE slice of cheese –really ??? If I’m eating a half lb burger there BETTER be two slices of cheese –c’mon that’s just common sense. The fries didn’t help their cause either, I think they may have imported the coldest deadest fries from the nearest mcdonalds garbage can. Oh lest I not forget the bacon on my burger was so overcooked it crumbled just by looking at it. Ya we know your a new spot in town but how cheap can you get. The way to make an impact is to show that you care rather than skimping on the details that count. Upon biting into this monstrosity it ;(as I expected) tasted like a freezer burned gritty p.o.s. I couldn’t even take another bite and had to send it back. There was nothing they could have done to remedy this situation, if this is quality of meat they are putting out for $ 16.00 a burger I can only imagine the quality of their $ 20+ entrees. Just another reason to go to whole foods, spend $ 16.00 and feed me my husband and our best friends the best organic, hand made and pressed burgers in town. Don’t waste your time or money
