I had a couple of hours to kill between yoga class and a baby shower a few weeks ago and I decided to stop in for a hot drink and a quick breakfast. I always expect disappointment when seeking food at coffee shops because of the lack of gluten free offerings, so I was really happy to find that they offer yogurt! They also had a huge selection of tea and coffee, as well as a decent food menu. I ended up ordering a pot of green tea with my yogurt and it was delivered in an adorable tea pot with a tea cup. I drank the whole thing and then decided to order a pot of rooibos tea. I was able to sit at a cozy table and relax while drinking, eating and reading a book for over an hour. While I was there, I witnessed the staff interacting with the customers in a really efficient, yet friendly and charming way. I had a really great experience and definitely plan to go back the next time the opportunity presents itself. This is a great spot and puts chain coffee places to shame.

I have been loyal and loving. I have been forgiving, even though they have one very rude barista. Recently, it’s been closed for no posted reason on days when they say they will be open. On a visit in the last few months, one worker thought it was appropriate to begin mopping the floor an hour before closing. The food and beverages, as far as I can tell, seem to be delicious… but if the hours are unreliable, that does not really matter. Come on guys — fix this!

Only had coffee here but was more than a bit disappointed. I like to justify paying more at local establishments because they tend to have better service and put more care into their product. While I didn’t find the atmosphere or service at Jojo’s sub-standard, the fact that I paid a premium price for only so-so coffee was(to put it kindly) not ideal. Both my co-worker and I, who stopped in for midday espresso drinks, noted how lukewarm our drinks were. In fact, from the time we walked out of the coffee shop and into our office, our drinks were borderline cold. Not that I expect my coffee to be scalding when it’s handed to me, but being able to hold a cup without needing a coffee sleeve right off the bat is not necessarily a good sign. Given that many of my fellow Unilocalers seem to like this place, I’m hoping I can be a Jojo’s convert the next time I step foot into this Pratt Street establishment.

Hartford has a dearth of coffeeshops, so Jojo’s is your best option downtown and looks like the only mom n pop store in the city. Cute, practical coffeeshop, with very friendly service. My favorite spot is the comfy couch by the window. Generally it’s a busy shop, but you’ll be able to find a seat. Wifi is reliable, so makes this a great place to camp out. As mentioned, super nice service here. The owners even let me stay a little past closing while waiting for a friend to pick me up. They have bubble tea with a variety of flavors, but the tapioca is clear and the milk tea isn’t very strong. I would recommend the french press or a latte. I haven’t had their sandwiches, but the veggie panini smelled amazing.

The coffee is great. The service is not. When you have one person to act as cashier, barista, and general helper, you’re going to get lines(check), slow service(check) and then rude service(check). In fact, when I tried to order a breakfast sandwich, I was told that she couldn’t do it because she was the only one. The people who ordered a bagel ahead of us, waited nearly 10 minutes for their bagel so, no thanks to just getting that.(And they’re day old in many instances). Fortunately, if its coffee that you want, it’s quite good and in various combinations. Too bad the service can’t match.

Rude, brash service at the register when asking about breakfast sandwichs with eggs. Lady pointed up near the roof like I was stupid and I almost just walked out yet hunger can make you tolerate such. Finally saw the breakfast menu with no help from her and ordered an egg, sausage & cheese sandwich. Was told«I only have English muffins or wheat». I asked if any bread was baked there and she said«It’s toasted here». Finally was told, not asked«It’s to go» and I just said sure to end her misery of having to help sell me something. Waited around a while and apparently the guy that was supposed to be in the kitchen showed up a half hour late. Finally got my order and it was excellent for the price of under $ 4. Hung around and ate for a while and noticed that they seem to treat the regulars well instead of being an ass like towards me
