Spent the weekend with my family in Long Beach Island, two out of the there places were EXCELLENT !!! The Plantation Restaurant was my favorite. The food was absolutely Amazing!!! The food selections were tough to choose from because everything sounded so delicious. The food came out pretty quickly and it was fresh and hot. The staff were very friendly and hospitable, felt very welcomed. Five star food, five star service.

Went for a Sunday evening off season dinner. We’ve been to the Plantation quite a few times over the years as we live just off the island on the mainland. Food was terrible this visit. Service and cocktails however were outstanding. The chicken wing appy had that old, gamey taste you get if the wings are not fresh. Scallop appy was bland, Filet mignon was dry with what tasted like A-1 underneath. Maybe we caught them on a bad night, don’t know but for the prices there should be no bad nights.

Food was delicious. Everything was phenomenal. Went during off season so there was no wait and service was great.

We went here for New Years Eve dinner. The food wasn’t very good and for $ 40 a plate I thought there would be more food on the plate. Domestic Beer was pricey $ 6.00 a pint. We will not return

This restaurant is worth the wait and the price. The dining room offers a relaxed ambiance complete with a roaring fire. We ordered the Brussel sprout ravioli for an appetizer. Normally I’m not a fan of this vegetable, but the blend of flavors was delicious! The lobster crab cakes on a bed of spinach salad topped with matchstick potatoes was superb! My husband’s salmon was perfectly prepared & very satisfactory. The mango cheesecake topped a great dining experience. Our server was so personable, he added to our experience.

We are Lbi year round residents. It been a few years since we been to the plantation for dinner. We usually dine out at least 2 to 3 times a week. I don’t think we will be visiting the plantation again any time soon. Quality and service wasn’t worth the price.

This place is a gem. We don’t get to visit during peak season because it’s always packed, but it’s wonderful off season and open all year round.

The mussels on the appetizer menu are so delicious. The broth is perfection. I can not remember the last time I had mussels that were so good. The servers were so sweet and polite, even when I made a special request on my dinner plate. She came back with a yes answer from the chef and communicated between each other to make sure I was happy. I would surely come back. Thank you for a delicious dinner and amazing service.

Stopped by twice on our trip in the early off season. First for lunch because nowhere else was open. We thought it would be too fancy for our beachwear but no problem. The bar was a perfect quick stop. Great drinks, friendly staff, and excellent food. Fish tacos and muscles with white sauce were amazing. We like it enough to make reservations for the following evening. Once again everyone was impressed. We all got different dishes and shared and all were excellent. Swordfish, yellow fin, salmon, and scallops were all amazing. Best meal of our trip.

My wife and I have been here a couple of times and we really enjoy the food, service and ambiance. The other night our server was Stephanie and she was fantastic! She was very knowledgeable about the menu and the specials. My wife had the seared tuna with mango salsa and jasmine rice cake and I had the rigatoni with sausage, broccoli rabe, charred tomato and ricotta. My dish was perfectly cooked and delicious! For an appetizer we had the scallops wrapped in bacon, which comes with a very tasty horseradish sauce… delicious! Overall, we are very happy with Plantation and will return! They accept all major credit cards and have parking.

We were just here to celebrate a friend’s upcoming marriage. There were 13 of us all together. The staff was friendly, the waiter was very good and the food was delicious. I ordered the scallops and they were succulent. Just the right amount of pan searing. Others orders the muscles, mahi mahi, rib eye, crab cakes and shrimp scampi. Every one of us was very pleased with our dishes. They even happily custom made a dish for one girl that didn’t eat meat but didn’t want the vegetarian dish on the menu. I would definitely come here again. Oh and the downstairs bar was quite hopping.

Plantation is a rarity on LBI, a sit down restaurant with a higher class ambiance then your typical beach restaurant. Seeing where it is on the Island, it sort of makes sense. I’ve come here a few times over the years, most recently two weeks ago for my birthday. The food is really good most of the time however there’s one issue which really puts a dent in the experience. Read on… So the food is good. Expensive… but good. I had the lobster crab cakes and they were delicious. There wasn’t a huge portion but when you get that type of dish, there never is. My folks got the steak and that is delicious as well. This is the type of place where Medium means Medium. They don’t overcook the steak which is a pet peeve of mine when dining out. Here’s the issue… Plantation gets LOUD. It gets real loud in the upstairs back room especially. We had folks next to us screaming and playing cards(don’t ask) and it was ruining everyone’s time at the tables around us. The room has low ceilings which have a cutout with a skylight and the sound reverberates. It’s loud even when people aren’t screaming and making fools of themselves. In my fair opinion, some acoustic paneling to deaden the sound would be nice. Another option would be background music which tends to keep people quiet. The food here is great but the noise is annoying at times, along with people who treat a fine dining establishment like a college dorm.

A perfectly poured cocktail and delicious muscles were the right recipe to start Saturday evening on the island. Thanks to the animated, knowledge, and great facial scruffed waiter, Joseph, who made the recommendation for the appetizer. I hope everyone who dines at Plantation gets to enjoy his service. Another big thank you to the beautiful bartender, Mckenzie, who poured the most refreshing Hendricks and tonic LBI offers. Keep stuffing those olives!

Can’t say enough about the food and service here. The scallop app and clam flatbread were amazing, and the corn coconut soup made my toes curl. Enjoyed the scallops so much that I decided on the full scallop dinner… gave me the sweats I loved them so much. Now onto the waiter, Joseph literally sets the bar as far as hospitality goes. He was so attentive(but not too much), complimentary, and knowledgeable on the menu. He truly enhanced the entire dining experience. Thank you Joseph for making our meal and night so memorable.

This is a cumulative rating. The place is really nice, and the bar is different, as most places are BYOB. The menu execution is awfully inconsistent. Of the 4 entrees we had 2 were awful, 1 was just ok, 1 was great. If you are going, I would stick with the black bean soup(4 stars) or the empanadas(2 stars). Entrees — the shrimp scampi(4 stars). Stay away from Mahi — awful, and the Lobster, Crab cakes — terrible. I would hope that they can improve, because the place is really, really nice. But, you have to pass sooooo many good places to get to this subpar stop to make it worth it.

This place tries to be a fancy restaurant but it’s food is like frozen TV dinners from your local grocer’s freezer. The food is way over priced for what you get. Cuban sandwich I ordered were nothing special, since I had the best Cuban sandwiches on the planet in Miami and Seattle go figure. Do not come here it’s all old fogies gross things.

Sadly I must agree with some of the other reviews. Handsome restaurant. Good cocktail. The food I ordered was not housemade. Thats lazy. I felt like I was at a diner. Costco type turkey meatloaf. Instant mashed potatoes. Boiled unseasoned broccoli rabe. Sigh. Its a shame. I expected much more from The Plantation. :( I feel bad writing this. Im not a complainer But I am a chef. I know they can do better!

The Tall Man and I were on a stroll through Harvey Cedars and really were in need of a drink and snack mid-day. The Plantation seemed like a good choice, and classy it was. Even though we were underdressed in our swim suits and cover ups(not really prepared for a night out), the hostess was nice and courteous and invited us to sit at the bar. The bartenders and the food really do make this place run. While our experience was limited to drinks and appetizers, we struck up a fun little conversation with the bartender and had a good time. I got the mojito, which was a well-needed refresher for a hot day. We also got the scallops appetizer, and although the portion size was small, the flavors were a delicious combination. We didn’t end up heading back for dinner, but maybe on our next trip we will. Prices are in the 20’s range, though, so make it a special occasion.

My boyfriend and I dined here this past Sunday and were impressed with everything we ordered. We both had the«22oz Cedars Wreck» for a drink and they were great but seemed a little overpriced at $ 15 each. We had the bacon wrapped sea scallops for an appetizer which came with 3 scallops for $ 14, we were hoping for at least 4 so we could share them evenly. Our entrees were the pan seared salmon and the flash seared local tuna. Both cooked perfectly and beautifully presented. For dessert we tried the sandy coconut and the crème brûlée. Overall we immensely enjoyed our meal and I give it 4 out of 5 because I feel the prices of some items such as drinks were a bit overpriced.
