The place needs a serious, serious deep cleaning. Torn table coverings, filthy window dressings, piles of dirt and dust on the ceiling fans. The plates are stained and need to be replaced. The door to the place is filthy which does not help a first impression. Watch an episode of Restaurant Impossible or Kitchen Nightmares and you’ll see that Ruggies has all the telltale signs of a dirty restaurant. It made me concerned about the cleanliness of the kitchen but I put my faith in the towns health department that it was recently inspected. Despite the dirty conditions, the food was actually quite good for a basic breakfast. The eggs were cooked well, coffee of good quality and the pancakes made from scratch Advice to ownership. Close down for a day in the middle of the week in the off season, hire a professional cleaning crew and a painter and clean up the place. Consider changing the flatware as well.

The following represents mine and my families experience. Hopefully your experience is different. Food — 2 star Service — 1 stars Ambiance/environment — 1 stars Food. On the plus side the eggs were good and the french toast and pancakes were cook. On the needs improvement side: The corn beef hash was the worst ever. Tasted like it either had something with vinegar in it or cooked with ketchup. It was truly disgusting for both me and my son. The bacon was limp with little meat, basically low quality. The coffee was luke warm and weak. Service. We were the 2nd group in the place so they cant say they were busy. Service was slow and unattentive. She once asked how things were but she was already walking away before she finished asking so it was clear she didnt really care if we liked it or not. Environment. The biggest complaint are the 10 fans blasting full speed above and all around you. Your food probably has 2 minutes before its gets cold from all the drafts. We asked why they had so many fans on and they said because later on it will be brutally hot. Maybe so but why do you need them on so early and why blast the tables with hot food? We would not come back here.

Stopped in at Ruggie’s for a late breakfast/lunch. Simple, friendly décor and CLEAN. Our party of 5 ordered from both sides of menu breakfast/lunch– we were all very happy with our dishes. My Husband and I had an omelette, although I made up my own egg white omelette with spinach, tomatoes and American cheese– it was perfect! Two sons ordered lunch– meatball Parm sub and roast beef au jus. they forgot to add the cheese to his roast beef au jus, as he’d requested, but quickly corrected it. A sausage breakfast sandwich for another son– each son was very happy with their choices. We will happily return.

We dropped in here for a quick casual lunch. We were able to snag one of the tables n the window for great people watching on a lovely summer afternoon. My boyfriend had the yummy«Nickolas» sandwich –grilled fresh turkey, cheese bacon. Ordered off menu a simple grilled cheddar & bacon sandwich. Quick, simple and delicious. Very friendly staff especially the owner who stopped by from a chat. Many people were still ordering breakfast which this little place really excels at.

We went here back in May and loved it. Had an early lunch… tuna sandwich, my son had eggs, my husband? But, it was all Delish. And, our waitress was friendly and chatty!

Just okay. 3 egg white omelet with veggies appeared to be less than a 2 egg omelet. Nothing special. My boyfriend had the cinnamon raisin French toast which also was just okay. Stingy on coffee refills. Man next to us had ordered over hard eggs and had very runny eggs on his plate. Waitress asked why he hadn’t eaten much of the eggs and he told her why. All she said was sorry and handed him the bill. Won’t be going back the next time we are up at the Cape.

Tons of options for both breakfast and lunch, all amazing. Got the peanut butter and chocolate waffles and they were decadent and delicious. Bacon was crispy and tasty. My buddy got the chicken and waffles. The chicken was fried up real nice and the waffles were light and fluffy. Highly recommend it!

Good burgers and sandwiches. Party of 12 and everyone was happy with their meals. Gravy fries were boring.

I hesitate to write this review because if I end up getting a lot more people to eat here I’ll never be able to get a seat again. Oh well. I stop here at least a couple of times each fall while I’m on vacation riding my bike through the Harwich, South Harwich, Chatham area. Each time I stop, I’m dying to get there because the place is great. There’s no pretense, the food is super and the staff and customers are fabulously laid back. I’ve seen a couple bad reviews here, and all I can say is that I’ve been here a dozen times or more, always wearing bike clothes, helmet and about 15 miles of sweat and have never had a bad breakfast or treated with anything other than friendly courtesy. Not doubting anybody here, because *anyplace* can have an off day. But it just hasn’t been my experience.

This is a small but excellent little café in historic Harwich. If you blink you will miss it as you drive down the road. It is open year round which is unusual. In the summer it can be crowded and there are only a couple of large tables. The menu is surprising large for such a tiny place. They have great waffles, good eggs, and coffee to die for! I had a ham, cheddar, and tomato omelette with home fries. Well prepared and fast. There were lots of families with small children there and the wait staff was friendly and engaged. This is my new favorite place for breakfast. It is right off the Cape Cod rail trail if you want to bike there for breakfast or lunch. There is something on the menu for everyone at Ruggie’s.

I came here for breakfast two days ago and the food was amazing. You are offered coffee as soon as you sit down. Our waitress was very accommodating and she even moved us away from the super cold fan in the back of the restaurant to the more comfortable front. However our food did not come out all at once, they forgot my dad’s order. Service needs better communication but over all awesome experience.

Went to Ruggies today with my mom and 2 kids. Staff was very unfriendly almost to the point of rude. Service was not good either. I never got a refill of coffee or water once. Now to the food… DISGUSTING. seriously the corned beef hash was the grossest thing I ever ate. It was sour and looked like a patty of vomit. Eggs were runny when I ordered them over medium and hash brown potatoes were not even slightly seasoned. I would NEVER go back there. I have no idea why anyone would.

Delicious, delicious, delicious! The service was friendly, efficient and the food was fantastic! I had the breakfast nachos with eggs, my husband had the Pride of Harwich and it was lean and yummy. The kids pancakes were lovely & light. Perfect stop on our bike ride!

Awesome place to stop while doing the bike trail nearby. French toast was awesome and the food wasn’t greasy which is always a plus. Loved the breakfast potatoes and my eggs were cooked perfectly. Only complaint: our waiter was a little dismissive but not rude. I would go back

We couldn’t face the thought of another day at the beach(I know, poor me. The weather has been too beautiful.), and decided to go exploring a bit when we happened upon Ruggie’s. I’m so glad we did! The place is not much to look at, but the menu is creative and the food is delicious. My daughter had tiramisu pancakes(chocolate chip cinnamon pancakes with whipped cream), and said she wants to go back and order them again. Everything we ordered was delightful. This place looks like a hole in the wall, but is truly worth a visit!

You can’t go wrong with Ruggie’s. Their breakfast menu is creative, there are a ton of options to choose from, and their prices will in no way break the bank. On a recent visit, I ordered a Caribbean waffle, which featured warm pineapple and mango with shredded coconut and a «citrus reduction.» It was fantastic– very fresh, and easily one of the best breakfasts out I’ve had in a long time. Ruggie’s dining room is sunny and cheerful, and the service was very friendly. There are lots of lower-Cape breakfast joints to choose from, but Ruggie’s is far and away the best I’ve found– I highly recommend!
