We’ve been looking for a new Mexican restaurant in the area ever since our old favorite closed down(RIP Tortilla’s). The Unilocal reviews were a mixed bag, so we figured we’d give Los Tacos Locos to see for ourselves. After taking our seats, we were given chips and salsa to start, along with two bottles of sauce to go with our meals. After squeezing the red sauce onto our plates, it was clear that most of the bottle was filled with oil, and one bite confirmed this. Both the chips and the sauces had an overwhelming taste of stale oil. Nothing more to say — we had a couple of chips and didn’t finish the sauce. For our main meal, we got vegetarian nachos and a vegetarian chimichanga. The nachos were made on the same chips, with the same taste of stale oil. The vegetables were barely cooked and difficult to eat. The beans had no flavor at all to them, and tasted like the cook didn’t use any salt, pepper, or any other spices typically found in Mexican food. There was barely any salsa on the nachos, except for a scant smattering of tomatoes sprinkled over top. The chimichanga was barely any better. The tortilla was soft and mushy — not crispy at all like a chimichanga should be. Inside was the same ingredients as the nachos, bland beans, uncooked vegetables, and nothing to add flavor at all. Overall, this wasn’t a great experience for us; needless to say, we won’t be returning. I generally don’t like criticizing restaurants and cooks for their hard work, but the fact that I created a Unilocal account just to review my negative experience at Los Tacos Locos should be pretty telling.

We went for the first time last evening and we will not be going back. First off they give you a basket of chips with what is suppose to be salsa. It is really just large chunks of tomatoes. When I asked the waitress for a side of quacamole she brought the dish, she brought without hesitating. But when we got the bill we were charged $ 6.50 for chips and quacamole! Seriously??? We we received our meals my chicken fajitas looked horrible. The chicken looked like they cooked it with something else and was not even cut into pieces. There was only enough pico for one fajita and no cheese. My husband’s meal was very greasy! The prices are low but I think you get what you pay for which isn’t much. When we walked in there was only one table taken which should of been our first indication that it was not going to be a good visit.

First time visit to Los Tacos Locos. Saturday evening at 6:30. Only one other table occupied, I must admit the 4 of us were concerned at first. I did read reviews on this site and saw quite a mix. One was irate that a refill of chips and pico de gallo cost extra. Seriously? Why is it that Mexican restaurants are obligated to supply this free? What do you get free in other restaurants? We found the menu to be priced fairly. The other common critique was that the food was bland. Now, I will add my 2 pesos. First off, I have pretty discerning tastes regarding food and would call myself a «foodie» I have traveled to both Mexico, and California for real Mexican, as well as Texas for what most people think of as Mexican, but is Tex-Mex.(I like both). I grow my own epazote, and culantro… yup… definitely a foodie. Now on to my review: Appetizer: We had chips with pico and guacamole. The chips were not overly greasy, and not conventional store bought. The pico had a pronounced cilantro and lime top note, but balanced. One of my dining partners thought too much cilantro. The rest of us loved it. I would have liked more garlic, and a tad more heat, but I can just imagine the negative reviews. I suspect they have to tame some things down to please the masses. The guacamole was very good. I like that it was balanced and not overpowered by anything. The taste of the avocado shined through. Main course: I had Alembres: «Your choice of meat with sauteed peppers and onions, mealted chihuahua cheese on top served on hot pan with sour cream flour tortillas and accompanied with rice and beans.»(pasted from menu) Alembres are pretty much the same as fajitas with cheese on top and rice, beans on plate. Now, I opted for the chicken, and carnitas, both of which were moist and flavorful. Lets face it, often the pork can be dry, and more often the chicken can be super dry. That was not at all the case here. The dish was served sizzling hot as expected. The peppers, onions created a nice moist sauce. I did ask for a side of their red sauce which was spectacular! The owner/chef, Monica came to our table to ask how we liked our meal. We raved and I asked about her rojo sauce, she warmly and freely named each ingredient(mostly guajillo peppers, seeds removed, not too hot) SABOR! Rice and beans were ok. I like yellow rice a little more aldente. The beans could have used a touch of cumin or something caramelized, or charred for depth. I would say they were perhaps on the bland side. Most will like it as is. One other guest also had Alembres but with beef and loved it too. Generous portion size. Third guest had sope«Thick homemade open-faced corn dough tortilla, topped with beans, lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream, queso fresco and your choice of meat.» Loved it. The 4th had enchiladas with ground beef«Three soft corn tortillas stuffed with your choice of meat, smothered with your choice of sauce, melted cheese and drizzled with sour cream. Served with mexican rice and beans.» Also loved it. * We have tried«El Limon» in Ambler(which had great reviews) and thought it to be OK at best. * We have tried«La Morena» in Hatboro, also good reviews. Was good, but not great in my opinion. * We have tried«Rey Azteca» in Warminster(descent reviews) and absolutely hated it. Talk about bland! I have to say now that our former favorite Mexican restaurant«Tortuga’s Cocina»(in Lambertville) closed(reopened, not as good) We have just found our new favorite local Mex restaurant! We loved it! Loved how Monica came to each table to inquire. Great job Monica! By the end of our meal, the place got more filled. Ok… I will add that we hated the shade of intense green the walls were painted… There! I had to say something negative to balance this love fest LOL! Did I mention we loved it? :-)

This place makes Taco Bell look like gourmet Tex Mex… all of the meat was super liquidy. I order 3 hard tacos(chicken, steak, veggie) By the time I finished the veggie taco, the other two shells were soaked through. My fiancée order the fajitas. His meat was also saturated in liquid. The tortillas had a weird consistency, like they were heated up in the microwave. We also order a side of guac and Pico de Gallo. The Pico de gallo tasted like I were biting into a lime. The chips had a slight stale taste to them.

My wife, son and I had a great time at this little gem the other night. I got a chicken dish with mole sauce which was very flavorful and well cooked. The tortilla soup was loaded with fresh vegetables(the owner told us they were local, which is cool) and had a little kick to it. Very tasty. To cap it off, we had the churros for dessert. They were awesome. They get their ice cream from Tanner’s. If you’re from Bucks co. or the surrounding area you know that is some of the best ice cream around. Service was good, prices fair, and the owner was very friendly and sweet to our child. We will definitely return!

Well exceeded my expectations! I went in expecting small town, adequate Mexican food, but what I got was so much more! The chips and salsa tasted very fresh and were perfect for snacking while I waited for my food. Service was attentive, but not overbearing — which was nice as I was dining alone. My veggie burrito looked so pretty when they brought it out! It was full of all the delicious things promised by the menu. And it wasn’t heavy and greasy like some Mexican food I’ve had. As I was about to leave, I had a quick conversation with Monica, the owner. She is absolutely lovely and told me how they make everything fresh every day. You can tell she really takes pride in her work. Definitely coming back!

So happy that I found this gem! Whenever you are in the Hatboro/Horsham area this is a MUSTSTOP. From the daily made Pico de Gallo, the Salsa Verde, and Chimichanga you can’t leave here hungry! Look out for Taco Tuesday!!! 3 Tacos for $ 6.99, insane. And homemade desserts Monica and her husband Andre are pillars of the community.

I purchased a groupon for here and glad I purchased it. I want to say how much I loved the food, the soup, service and décor on the money. Met the owner and her husband, such sweet people and down to earth. I let her know how impressed I was on the flavor and freshness of the food. I would def recommend going here. EXECELLENT!

By far the worst Mexican food I have ever had. We were a party of 4. The meals came out 10 minutes apart. The fist 2 meals for my wife and I were chicken fajitas and they were cold. The chicken was bland and portions were small. Hardly any veggies. The next 2 meals were chimichangas and they just did not taste good either. My friends did not care for them. I normally do not complain about price, but this place gives you a dessert size bowl of chips with some pico for the table. It was tiny. A refill was $ 4.50. Absolutely insane. Needless to say we won’t be back.

Thanks to Groupon I learned about Los Tacos Locos. I stopped in for lunch, there was plenty of seating, and service was fast. I didn’t really even look the menu because I was hungry and knew I wanted tacos. I ordered 2 tacos: chicken, steak, and chorizo, all with lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, and cilantro. This was a hearty plate of food and filled me up(but not too much!). The grilled chicken was probably the best, the steak was a smidge tough, and the chorizo tasty and spicy. I don’t think the tacos needed quite as much toppings, but it’s nothing to complain about. I’ll go back. Also… use the bathroom before you dine because the bathroom is the smallest, really t.h.e. smallest I’ve ever seen in a commercial property. If you’re over 5’5 you probably won’t fit!

Had a Groupon, took my mom for lunch. She had steak fajitas and was very happy with the taste of the steak. I had chicken burrito with queso sauce. It was really tasty. I’d never had a burrito drizzled in queso like that before. Knife & fork eating. The owner was very friendly.

Freshly made home style Mexican. The nachos grande is very good with all fresh ingredients. Love the chimichanga… great presentation! Would have given it 4 stars but ordered chorizo and pulled pork chimichanga and the pulled pork was left out. The friendly owner brought some on a separate plate. My advice to the negative reviewers: If you want it hot and spicy ask for some hot sauce and they will bring it to you. I’m not a fan of hot but my husband is, so I prefer it optional.

Ate here a few weeks ago with my parents and forgot to post the review– I had a beef tongue taco for the first time– VERY good, and the chicken Chimichanga with a home made mole sauce was to die for. The place was not very crowded and the owner of the shop came over and talked to us a bit. She then gave us a complimentary piece of Mexican cake made from milk– it was great. We had BYOB and they were very accommodating. All in all I would say this was a great dining experience. I look forward to my next meal there–

It’s really great when you can eat 3 flour tacos, one grilled chicken, one steak and the other barbacoa and be left feeling satisfied. No heaviness. Tacos were vibrant and earthy. Have to ask for a squeeze of lime on next visit. Otherwise, everything was fresh and clean tasting. I hope that makes sense. Yeah, I managed a slice of Tres Leches… nom, nom!

Thumbs down. Food is bland. Asked waitress for hot sauce and her answer was she does not eat hot sauce and one served was mild. Water is also not free. I am not recommending this place. Atmosphere is dark and not at all inviting.

Ordered take out. Food tasted pretty good and fresh for the most part. However, one of our sides were forgotten. Two out of three of us liked our food well enough. Maybe they’re better when you dine in? Food was a little bland. I want to try the empanadas though! The ice cream with the churros was off the chain.

This place is a GEM! The owner is such a sweetheart, very caring and very driven to succeed. Hubby and I would often go to El Limon in Conshy but instead of the drive one night, we found our lazy selves giving this place a try. BEST decision ever! The authenticity of the recipes and the impeccable freshness of the ingredients really sets this menu apart from all other Mexican restaurants and taquerias you will find anywhere. You can literally taste the labor and hand-picked awesomeness. The guac is absolutely delicious– bold flavors in a heavenly blend of lime squeeze. We will be back here again and again and again. Little Hatboro will not do this place justice. Once word gets out about Los Tacos Locos, the parking situation on the street is going to get rough!
