A group of 7 showed up on a Saturday night at 10:20pm. I looked up on their website the time they close(which said 11pm) before even leaving the car since the way they designed this place you have to walk a mini marathon just to get in the front door. This server sees us walk in, look at his watch, and announce loudly, «are we still open?!» To the other employees. He comes to the front and says he has to check to see if the kitchen is still open. Really?! I work in the service industry and I understand certain aspects of working in a restaurant, but 40 minutes before close?! That’s a joke. He comes back after were awkwardly standing up front for 10 minutes and tells us the kitchen is already closed. You just missed out on the easiest tip you would have ever made, and none of us will be back. Hibachi is a specialty occasion type of restaurant and they’re a dime a dozen, we won’t be back. One thing people will forgive is subpar food, but subpar service along with an attitude? No thanks.

Great show and a lot of food. Perfect for a birthday dinner or a date. The fried rice is by far the best. The chicken was a bit dry but the wonderful selection of vegetables made up for this. Love the bean sprouts!

I came here for lunch and had a nice time. The sushi was fresh and the price point was fair. The décor looked nice as well and I enjoyed the service I received. I would definitely return.

Went there for a birthday party. With a group of ten, it’s a nice open hibachi restaurant. They gave us some free beers up front while we waited for all of our group to arrive. My complaint is with our waitress, named Lucy. Lucy was pretty rude about us wanting to split the checks and did a poor job of waitressing. She wouldn’t refill drinks and when we would have to flag her down and yell for drinks, straws, etc… Our hibachi dude was great and put on a good show with a entertaining personality. Even had some Steve Harvey jokes and did fun things with the food. Overall, it was a fun experience but Lucy sucked.

3 of us went to lunch. Ordered simple sushi. we got there at 1215 by 1255 our sushi was not even ready when I went to ask what was going on. One sushi cook there he was still making the sushi for the table behind us. Did not even start our order yet. Place is very nice onside. Never got a chance to eat. We all had to br back to work by 1

The place has been redone. The food is good, the chefs are fun and it’s clean. Very happy with Gasho and the hibachi experience.

We had a birthday dinner for my 9 year old son at Gasho last night. The restaurant has been renovated and is very nice. I was at this restaurant last year and its a huge difference in décor. Much needed improvements were made. The good: * Restaurant is clean and new. * Food was good with good size portions. * We had Jimmy/Pablo as our chef — hands down best hibachi grill experience for everyone at the table.(We are not hibachi newbies). Very entertaining — the kids loved it! The bad: * You are going to pay for the renovations. The price point is higher than comparable places in the area. We paid with tax and tip around $ 370 for 4 adults and 5 kids. * Other than the chefs personality/show the service was lacking. I know it’s a hibachi restaurant — compared to other hibachi places the service was lacking. I am a fan — If you have never been to Gasho I would give the new look a try. For me, from someone who lives within five minutes of this restaurant I will continue to give Izumi in Commack my business(15 minute ride). Provided their menu doesn’t change after their renovations(Due to re-open Dec 2015). The food is a little better and it’s a much better bang for the buck. That same meal at Izumi normally would be at least $ 60 — $ 80 less.

I have been coming here for 25 years it’s the best Japanese steakhouse on Long Island. It’s also under new management and the place has been renovated and it looks beautiful. Great food great atmosphere great price and the staff are top notch. They have also added a sushi bar now as well.

They did a nice job renovating. The Hibachi is also noticeably better, although the chicken is lacking. Soup is better than it used to be, very delicious! Atmosphere and live cooking was excellent, the chef we had the last two visits was hilarious, made it all loads of fun for our group. I’d advice against the sushi though. We ordered some with salmon and were not told they don’t do raw sushi… they brought it out with fried salmon, and it didn’t taste very good either. If you’re going for a traditional Hibachi meal, I would recommend it, especially for the filet Mignon and shrimp!

OK. The new Gasho is not good. 8:30 reservation turned into 9pm seating which turned into a 20 minute wait for drinks(soda), which turned into a one hour wait only to be told more time to wait. Only to be given improperly cooked shrimp appetizer as to appease someone… but I dont eat seafood. Walked out with 9 others… mgr acted is if we weren’t patient enough. Lost our business for good. Didn’t you ever hear that the customer is always right? If I could rate without stars I would.

We have been going here for what seems like decades. Unfortunately it has gone steadily down hill. With all the Japanese Hibachi restaurants on Long Island I think it’s only a matter of time untill this restaurant disappears

What happened to this place. In years past I had enjoyed a nice entertaining meal at Gasho. This place has gone completely down hill. Friday night 6:30 pm place was empty. It was so cold inside the restaurant the bar tender had on a winter coat, hat and scarf. The sushi appetizers were horrible and appeared to have been sitting around for a while. The hibachi dinner was adequate but not very entertaining. With so many other choice for great hibachi take your business elsewhere.

This place is in need of a makeover, the parking lot is full of potholes, but still a decent restaurant. Best place for a hibachi style meal in the area. High novelty factor due to food being cooked right infront of you.

Girlfriend and I chose Gasho, because Nishiki in Selden took forever to seat us. Upon our arrival was very confused with the awkward parking lot and entrance. The décor was very outdated and establishment was freezing cold. Waitresses wore puffer vests and North Face Jackets. Ordered a Saparo Beer at the bar for $ 7.90 which is damn pricey! Anyway, once we walked in, the staff was VERY friendly! The hostess sat us instantly and we placed drink order all within 5mins. The cook arrived and was very animated! He had the whole table participate and kept us laughing. I looked around and noticed that not all chefs were as amusing, and that we lucked out. So be weary who you get! The appetizers were decent, and entrées were amazing. As an app, we ordered a California roll, which was mediocre; chicken teriyaki, which was basically Tyson wings drenched in teriyaki sauce(tasted good tho); and shrimp tempura, which was delicious ! For entrees, I ordered shrimp&salmon, and the girl had shrimp&steak. The meals were perfect! Portions were HUGE! Chef provided us with a big bowl of hibachi rice, veggies, noodles, and green tea. I had a nice slab of salmon, and the girl had a big piece of steak as well. And for shrimp, the chef prepared roughly 12 – 15 pieces of nice sized shrimp. Overall we had a great experience. Perfect way to spend a date with a chick you been with, but def not a first date type spot.

Decided to try this place. Had the chicken and shrimp combo and the hibachi rice. The rice is made with soy sauce, peas and corn. It is greasy. In fact the chef really loves to splash oil on EVERYTHING including directly on the food. The mai tai drink was watered down. The soup was good abd you do get alot of veggies. Go to Bennihana.

I went here with a friend because it was highly recommended by a few coworkers. It was the worst hibachi experience I ever had. The cook was dull didn’t bother to put on a bit of a performance but just cook in silence. The food was awful and tasteless. I will never eat here again.

Hibachi is usually pretty standard across the board once you had it numerous times, with some falling below the standard and some slightly above. This was below the standard. From the awkward entrance to the as many mentioned outdated décor, this place was far from memorable. I was not the the biggest fan of our hibachi chef, as he just yelled a lot with out doing much of any tricks at all, and at some point just felt like I wished we just ordered non HIbachi food(no onion volcano, no egg thrown in the hat, no show really at all) Though I did find him funny, when he sang all of my favorite 90’s songs. The service from the waitresses was spotty and could use a bit of oomph as well. The food, was pretty standard on all fronts, with the shrimp being my favorite of all the meats served. Can’t really see myself being back here, with all the cheaper and better food options out there in this world.

It was ok, I’ve had better. Rather unremarkable. They forgot to give us complimentary green tea which I didn’t mind because I hate green tea, but my boyfriend was annoyed I’m sure. The filet mignon hibachi had a strange after taste, but the shrimp was very very flavorful. The chef was funny, singing ridiculous 90’s music on the top of his lungs while preparing the food.
