Stinks that they stopped the fresh deli sandwiches! The prepackaged one from somewhere in the Midwest was terrible. Used to be packed at lunch because they USED to make good sandwiches etc. As a side note, don’t use your debit card to buy diesel fuel. They actually put a $ 500 hold plus ring out your final fuel amount. It takes two weeks for the hold to come off. If they had fueling facilities for semis I can see this but how much fuel do they think a VW diesel takes anyway?

Not sure what has transpired over the past couple of months but this place has gone downhill drastically. Slow service is an understatement and has always been an issue, but the food was worth the wait and I learned not to stop there if I were in a hurry. The woman at register is rude and slow as molasses. She left the register unattended for at least two minutes. Eventually looking out she saw me standing there, but kept talking for another minute or so before making her way over to the register at a snail’s pace. The last, and likely the final time I came in the deli, the hours had changed and they no longer cook/serve food after 6pm. Again the unfriendly woman was sitting at the tables with the rest of the crew, looked at me and said, «We’re closed». It’s too bad. They’re in a prime location and the food used to be very reasonably priced and pretty darn good. They’ll be lucky if they survive the winter.

Find someplace else to go. The new owners that took over have changed the inside of the store, removed the deli and have no clue how to manage the property correctly. The two guys and older lady working the grill have no clue how to multitask? so your order will take 30 minutes just for a sub. This place USE to be great. now it’s nothing but a joke. Such a shame…

No. Just, no. It was great before they switched ownership. But now everyone is rude and indifferent and the food is handled poorly with complete disregard for safety. No. Just, no. Also, 45 minutes for a BLT is just too long. — EDIT: Make that 67 minutes. Also, the deli meats were out from refrigeration for over an hour. I’m GLAD I got a cooked item.

Food was ok, good value for the money. It wasn’t busy at all but this was the third time in a row that they took 25 minutes to make my food though(an egg sandwich shouldn’t take anywhere near that long). Had to skip breakfast entirely because that extra time they took to make my food was the time I allotted to eat before work. Three strikes and you’re out.

I’ve heard people talk about this place. Being one of the locations that I clean my truck and get gas, I figured I’d give it a shot. I walk in and it looks pretty clean. There was a few people waiting for their sandwiches to be made, so that’s a good sign. The menu is typical for a deli/sub shop. As soon as I walked up to the counter a woman(20s, taller, glasses and of somewhat generous proportion) asked me what I wanted. I had to tell her 6 times until she seemed to have it written down correctly. As I waited for my order to be completed, the place emptied out and then a new wave of customers came in. This woman seemed to be working and getting things in order. She stopped when a male patron walked in and talked to him for a bit. When she returned back behind the counter her partner was already handing people that came in after me their food. 25 minutes have passed since I ordered and I was starting to wonder if I didn’t hear her call my order up. But, 3 cold subs can’t take this long, right? Well, I went up and asked if my order was ready. She looked at me, looked around and said, «Did you want mayo with those?» She hadn’t even started them. It took another 15 minutes for her to make them. 40 minutes for three large deli subs with nothing but lettuce and tomato shouldn’t take that long for a two manned counter at a place that wasn’t busy. Not to mention I don’t have that much time to burn during the work day.

I’ve gotten subs here several times and brought them over friends houses for game day. Everybody always raves about them because they are huge and stuffed with a ton of meat. I usually get turkey & cheese or ham & cheese subs because they cook both right in their store and is tasty and fresh. I can’t comment on any of the hot subs because I haven’t tried them yet. Also noticed that they don’t offer Mass lottery anymore

I’ve been going here since the place opened. It’s gone waaay downhill! All of their cold deli subs are good. However, when it comes to anything hot– that’s a different story. The people at night are really nice, but don’t have a clue as to how to time anything. The fries are HORRIBLE! They buy the cheapest, thinnest, shoestring fries on the market. By the time I get home(I live ½ mile away) they’re stone cold and as hard as diamonds. I think I chipped a tooth on them last night! PLEASEBUYTHICKERFRIES! The thinner they are, the easier they are to screw up. If you cook them for 10 seconds too long, they come out like sticks. The steak and cheeses used to be great. Now they cook them to death. ½ of the sub is LOADED with cheese, and the other is dry. The last 2 times I’ve been there, they forgot all the sauces– marinara for the mozzarella sticks, and the buffalo on the side I asked for. Best bet for hot food there is the chicken fingers. I work late. So unfortunately I’ll be back there thinking«maybe this time it’ll be good.» There’s nothing else open in the area except for Burger Thing, McD’s, and Wendy’s. Again… I feel bad for bagging on the staff because they are really cool, but they either don’t know how to cook, or they just don’t care. GETBETTERFRIES!!!

I work overnights and food tends to be scarce. A coworker raved about a sandwich she got at Haffner’s and several of us couldn’t wait to go. Twice now we have attempted to patronize this«24 hour» establishment, but alas, they were not open. If the store hours are subject to the whims of the employees, they should not advertise that they are open 24 hours.

First time here today. Will probably be my last. Was in plaistow down the road at my gfs work and we wanted a quick lunch. She couldn’t leave so we called to place an order. Called 5x every time it was busy. When she did get thru they put us on hold. Ok so it’s the lunch rush I get it. 30 minute wait. So I get there to pick up our order total chaos! People behind the counter saw me but as soon as I tried to speak up about getting our order I was ignored. Literally waited 15 more minutes trying to get someone’s attention. Then I get my food no bag or anything. Food was decent but terrible setup in the store

Haffners is a gas station, usually carrying the cheapest gas(or used to), but something happened with this location, just before entering Plaistow. A large building popped up out of nowhere one day, housing a new convenience store and deli! I’ve had sandwiches here twice and they’re huge and delicious and made to order. They have all kinds of deli sandwiches, salads, burgers and by the pound deli meat. Who goes to the gas station to get deliciously baked turkey breast for 4.99? That would be me!

Stopped in for a grab –n-go sandwich for breakfast and found out that this place is open and raring to go at 10:00am. A big deli– that uses Ditz & Watson meats and really good prices. We got a large pastrami made to order and it was devine. Fresh & good. The woman that made it was super nice and friendly. The place has a few tables inside to eat. I will definatley return here for more.

I got a cold veggie wrap and it was pretty good. I came at prime time lunch, so it did take about 10 minutes to get my food– so I wouldn’t recommend coming here on a lunch break unless you get a long lunch. The sandwich was good, but I kinda burped all day after, not sure what that’s all about and maybe it’s TMI, but it was bizarre. Overall I’d come here again for a veggie wrap or to try something else, but I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to come here. The prices were decent. I want to mention the guy behind the counter was very kind and also the woman who rang me up too.

I stopped by the new Jack Haffner’s Market & Deli, which is open 24 hours and located next to Haffner’s Car Wash and Kick Stop(gas station). This convenience store has the atmosphere of a lodge which is spacious and very clean with high ceilings and shiny hardwood floors. They carry the typical convenience store items such as cold drinks, beer, snacks, candy, dry goods, coffee, and newspapers. There’s also have a full service deli counter & grill which offers made-to-order sandwiches & subs, chargrilled black angus burgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders, wings, fries, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, jalepeno poppers, breakfast sandwiches, baked goods pizza slices, grab & go sandwiches, cold salads, and chilled desserts. I ordered the $ 5.99 Deli Sandwich Combo which included any sandwich or sub, fries, salad, and a can of soda from the cooler. I got a large turkey sub was HUGE which was overstuffed with deli turkey(Butterball) slices with lettuce(Romaine), onions, American cheese, and mayo in a thick soft chewy roll. The light golden fries were served very hot, with light and crispy texture. The redskin potato salad(from Boston Salads) side was really good, which had firm redskin potatoes with a creamy and tangy flavor. The food overall was very tasty and the combos offered here are a great deal! Next time I stop in, I’ll have to try out one of their Black Angus burgers!
