Went here on a Unilocal recommendation and it did NOT disappoint! Total dump /hole in the wall. Very clean, don’t get me wrong. Dump in the best way. It’s like a convenience store with 4 tables in the middle. No one was speaking English and there was banda music on the radio. I asked the owner for a taco plate and to fix them the way he likes them. Two asada, one chicken with rice and beans. SOOOOOGOOOOOOD!!! I’ll be back!

Wanted to try something different from my normal routine restaurants, and I have found my GEM! I had the super(or supreme) nachos and was BLOWN away with the tortilla chips, meat and beans, I thought I was eating my Mother’s cooking. Definitely will go back and try more of their menu. Also bought chips, soda, and candy.

This is a small hole in the wall that is very easy to miss. I’ve had the camarones a la diabla a few times and it definitely keeps me coming back! The dish is very flavorful and has a great kick to it. The women who run this place really take their time making your food, it feels like when my mom makes me dinner. The location itself could be a little nicer/cleaner but overall the camarones a la diabla are worth the visit.

Went to day and best part was the freshness of the meat. I had the Asada taco combo and I was underwhelmed. Meat tasted more sautéed in a pan than grilled. It was just ok flavor wise. And the«salsa» was the most watery I have ever had in my life. No sign of tomatoes, onions, cilantro, etc. rice and beans were decent though parts of the rice were a little bit hard. Wouldn’t go out of my way to come here again but if I am not feeling picky and in the neighborhood might give it another go.

I hate Emily S! She wrote a review about Las Brisas and mentioned Valerie D. yet she didn’t give me a real shout out! A real shout out means referring to me as Robot Mikey, King of the Galaxy, Adored by All Womens! WTH. Damn You Emily S! You’re Dead To Me! Anyway, I went here to meet up with the Unilocaler I Hate The Most, Emily S. who was there with Valerie D. Menage a Trois? Yes Please! Friggin’ Emily made me drive in circles b/c she couldn’t figure a place to eat. First it was Vietnamese food, then Mexican. Woman make up your mind! So I got there and I was like, WTH. It’s a Mexican convenience store in the hood. You go in and you see a kitchen to the right with a bar, a makeshift table to the left, and a grocery store to the far left. But as all Angelenos know, great Mexican food comes from the hood. Just like how all great Chinese restaurants have a B or lower rating. Anyway, I sat down at the bar with Emily S. and Valerie D. who apparently already ordered. Damn them! They didn’t wait for me! They had a lot of stuff on the menu, but since it was a new place to me, I wanted to set a baseline to compare to other divey Mexican joints. My favorite is La Taquiza by USC, so that’s what I’m comparing it to. Since I only eat tacos al pastor at La Taquiza I ordered two of those but I also ordered 2 tacos chicarrones. My order sounded so yummy that both Emily S. and Valerie D. place an order for those tacos. Damn those imitators! Prior to our orders being delivered, Emily started putting little napkins all over the bar. Apparently, the place wasn’t clean enough for her. It’s either that she’s a germaphobe or thinks Mexicans are unclean(damn racist!). She cleans the top of her soda can to remove dirt and even wraps the outside of the can with napkins. WTH, she’s weird! Anyway, my tacos arrived and I must say I was impressed. The tacos came with two tortillas(which I’m usually against) but these tortillas were soft(but not fluffy). La Taquiza tacos are soft AND fluffy which is awesome. The pastor was juicy and delicious. The chicarrones tacos were crispy on the outside but soft as you keep biting through them. They were of course a little fatty/oily but that’s to be expected. Emily couldn’t finish off her taco so she gave it to me, so I really had 5 tacos for the price of 4. Awesome! However, I think 3 tacos chicarrones are a little too much b/c I felt a little greasy after consuming the 3rd taco. The tacos were $ 1.19 each before tax. Very, very good tacos and I’ll be sure to go back. Also, this taco review is a lot better than that taco reviewing Foodoofus.

Damn Skippy! You know those«hole in the wall» spots people always talk about? The one with bomb ass food!!! Well this place is the SPOT! Las Brisas doesn’t even show up in FREAKIN Google Maps! And I have Valerie D to thank for introducing me to this secret little spot! :) We were supposed to have Vietnamese Food this weekend at Thai Lai but they were closed! DAMNYOU!!! So Valerie remembered her spot, Las Brisas down the street. I’m looking it up on my phone and thinking to myself.. . This girl is probably turned around. The only Las Brisas I know of is all the way in Redondo Beach. On Artesia! Sure enough. she knew where she was going. This place is located in a small strip mall which has an Autozone and some kind of Laundromat. Las Brisas is a supermarket /meat market/small place that serves food. You order your food first. and pay AFTER you finish eating. Since we were there for breakfast, I ordered their Chilaquiles. It was pretty good. You have the option to top it with meat or eggs. I ordered eggs on top of mine. The eggs were a little too salty.. . but when you mix it with the rice and beans it balanced itself out. Valerie ordered the flautas and ceviche. Mikey ordered four tacos. Two of them were chicharron tacos! They looked so good that Valerie and I ordered one each for ourselves. Not bad. Their chicharron tacos beat any of these gourmet food truck tacos I’ve tried. Plus, there’s more meat! I am definitely coming back to this spot. Good prices, big portions, and delicious food! Warning to those who are going there: It’s not a fancy spot. There was only one picnic table in the middle of the supermarket for people to sit on. And four stools at the counter. That’s it. Also, if you use credit cards, they will charge you 25 cents.
