There is something about a Philly Cheesesteak from Penn Station that just makes me want to smack someone because it’s so good and I felt that same way after coming to Penn Station on Friday. The Philly Cheesesteak was on Monthly Special, so I went with that, which included fries and a drink. They were a little busy when I arrived, but I ordered pretty quickly and probably only waited about 10 minutes for my food. The Cheesesteak was cooked perfectly and was still hot when I got home. The fresh cut fries were awesome and crispy and also still hot when I got home. I had their fresh squeezed lemonade for my drink and it was so good. I’m not sure how folks drink the fake crap after having fresh squeezed lemonade. Penn Station is the place to go an awesome Philly Cheesesteak or any other hot sub.

Good food and friendly staff. The owner, however, needs to find a place for the off duty staff to hang out other than the bar seating in front of the register where customers wait for carry out food. This has been an issue more than once.

Men’s bathroom was disgusting. Ordered three sandwiches 7:00 pm on Feb. 6. Had to have all three corrected. This was my third time here, three strikes. Is making a sandwich that hard? The cleanliness of this place… where’s the health department. I would pass until they make some improvements

Food is decent. Service is fine, but last visit they would not take a coupon on my smartphone. When pressed, person in charge explained that the policy was the policy. That makes this customer a non-customer. Want a good cheese steak? Go to Jersey Mike’s instead…

Good Subs. i usually get the sub of the month and its a good deal. The fries are why I keep coming back. Also the cookies are very good!

Let me start by saying I used to love coming here. The subs and fries are delicious, however their customer service has continually gone down hill. This location seriously lacks quality assurance and they skimp on everything, yet charge higher prices. I have had issues here the last two times I’ve been here. 1. They skimped so much on the fries, we actually thought it was a mistake – we never had that issues before, they always had heaping portions. The subs felt like they were smaller /lacking insides as well. 2. The last time I was here they got my sub completely wrong, yet they marked it correctly. We took the order to go, so we didn’t know it was wrong until we got home. I don’t eat any of the things that were in the sandwich they gave me, so I didn’t eat at all. My husband took it back and got a refund, but had to «force» an apology. So basically don’t expect to be a customer they appreciate. I won’t be dining here again after this last incident.

This is a decent neighborhood sub place. It is convenient and they were doing a spirit night promotion for my kids school so we decided to check them out. First let me say we were greeted quickly and courteously by the young server manning the orders station. He answered our many questions patiently and took the time to explain that all of the ingredients are fresh and all orders are made fresh while you wait… and it can be a long wait. We waited about 10 minutes for our order and there was no one in front of us when we ordered. On to the menu… Basically, you can choose from a number of specials or the build your own«Dagwood» served hot or cold. Sadly there is only one kind of bread. White French style rolls. Could really use some variety there, a whole-grain option at least! But the bread WAS fresh and soft. Your side options are basically fries or chips. We chose fries. We ordered the«Italian» and the«Club» plus the kids meals which ended up being build your own«Dagwood» style. Let me just say, if you are used to ordering from Subway, these bread rolls are much narrower. Think garlic bread sticks from Olive Garden size. So the subs are not as large as you might think. We ordered 6 inch and probably should have gone for 12 inch. But they were TASTY. Nice thick cut bacon stood out on the club. But all of the ingredients were first rate. And the fries were delicious! After snitching a few from the kids(they come with the kids meals) ended up ordering more. However, for the amount of food you get and the size of the subs these are definitely on the pricey side. So my reasons for giving this place 3 stars instead of 4, basically is the small size of the sandwich given the prices and the slowness of service. It would also be nice to have a few more options for bread and fillings. If you don’t mind the price and the wait the food is fresh and tasty and definitely worth checking out should you happen to be in the area.

I always get the philly here and I love it. Just don’t get the mushrooms because they’re not sautéed. The fries are delicious! Board walk style(my favorite). No complaints here :)

this was my first visit here as I am so tired of subway and the icky bread. what does it take to get a good roll in this town? anyway the choices are ok so I settled on what we always get at subway turkey the employee suggested I let them grill the turkey I asked if it would dry it out he said no of course and it was not to bad. I got double meat, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions, mushrooms, with swiss cheese. I do think they could offer a few more choices of toppings and cheeses with out going out of business. they were supposed to throw in my bag the free tiny cookie they offer to I guess get you hooked but forgot, no biggie not much meat but all in all it was a good meal. I did go back a second time, after I read the other reviews I should have maybe passed them by but I am my own worst enemy sometimes, the bread was not really toasted at all which lead to a mushy doughy mess, we asked for double meat did not receive it asked for the turkey to be grilled did not receive it, the fries old and the size of chiclets so I assume we got the bottom of the basket of old orders they were greasy and burnt. Maybe if the owner or manager would hire someone over the age of 10 just kidding ok what 18? The bad reviews would stop. I know I will not return which is a shame they have a good product when executed correctly and in a great location and not to pricey. With out the consistency of a product you will eventually loose all your customers you can only fool us so many times. Trust me I really wanted this to work

Excellent subs and really friendly customer service! All the employees had a great positive attitude and are super funny! The fries are the bomb.

This place has great lemonade, and their cheesy breadsticks are pretty good as well. I am always looking for new sandwich places to checkout and this one is good. They are always quick and friendly.

Very tastey, blows subway ingredients out of the water! Was very delicious. Went on a week day at Lucy and got order in and ate and got out very quickly.

Went back one last time, out of desperation for a cheesestak locally. I shouldn’t have bothered. Ordered a cheesesteak with mayo, but no banana pepper, pizza sauce, or mustard, which are standard. This sandwich automatically comes with onion and mushroom. Delivered. With steak, heaps of banana pepper, a scant smattering of cheese. No veg at all. No mayo at all. Sent it back. No fries arrived. As I’d paid for fries, I asked. «Oh, we’ll give them with the other person’s meal». But the other person doesn’t WANT the fries. Can you put them separate. «Sure» Nope. Other person got fires mostly heaped on his sandwich. Unamused. It ruined his sandwich, though he tried to eat it despite the pools of fry oil. They redid my sub. SAME order. It came out with steak, pizza sauce, spicy mayo. No onion. No mushroom. The manager was schmoozing a guy at the counter and ignored me standing in front of him for several minutes. By this point, my companion and I were done. We threw our sandwiches away, walked out, won’t be back, and we’ll tell everyone we know to go elsewhere. Well played, Penn Station. Not.

As most of the reviewers of Penn Station, I have given them a chance, actually multiple chances, yet each time I have the same experience. It’s like I am stuck in that movie Groundhogs Day! It’s a bit extreme, I know, for a fast food spot, but it’s pretty pricy food for the service that you receive. Each time I have ordered the same thing. A club with no cheese. That is all. No cheese. Not complicated, just leave it off! Especially it being a warm sub, it’s not like you can pick off the cheese as easily as if it were a cold sub. Besides, you shouldn’t have to pick something off your food that you didn’t order in the first place. But each time I have ordered my food I receive it either with cheese or they realize before they hand it to me and have to remake. Either way it’s annoying to have to wait double the time for them to make my food how I ordered it. It is clearly listed on the receipt, the person taking the order enters it on the computer, why isn’t this confluent. So the most recent trip I order the usual with some fries. They made it with cheese and have to remake it. I finally get my sandwich after an eternity but it was sans fries. I asked the guy that who brought my sandwich and he said«they’re dropping now» then just walks away. Okay, fine. I wait a few mins, take a bite of sandwich, wait a few more mins, take another bite, no fries yet, nothing. I have to walk up and ask again, shocker, they forgot. He gave me the fries with a «sorry». Please. Come on Penn Station, get it together already! Whoever owns this place needs to get some mature adult manager/supervisor in there stat. The kids running the place are sabotaging it, just FYI.

I like their version of the chicken philly, and the enormous bucket of fries you get is pretty dang good. Not quite as crispy as Five Guys, but similar. This location was EXTREMELY slow, though.

The food was pretty good. The service could use improvement. Went here for lunch on a Saturday. There was nobody in line. I had never been there before and had no clue what to order, so I was standing just inside the door reading the menu on the wall. The guy behind the counter started rattling off questions if I was dining in or taking out and asking what I wanted to order multiple times. I told him dining in and that I needed a minute to read the menu, but he kept asking like 3 times what I wanted to order like he was in some big hurry. I felt rushed and didn’t even finish reading the menu, just ordered the first thing I saw on the menu that sounded good. After placing your order with the first guy, you move down the counter to the end of their assembly line to pay for your order and receive your food. From the guy who took the order to the lady at the cash register to the other employees picking up empty trays and stuff around the restaurant, none of them seemed very happy to be there. Complete lack of enthusiasm. I enjoyed my sandwich and fries, but not at all impressed by the service.

Checked out Penn Station East Coast Subs this evening for the first time ever. They opened earlier this week — Wednesday I believe. Ordered the 12″ Philly Cheesesteak — with mayo, lettuce tomato, onions, banana peppers and small fries and a soda — Root Beer. Got the order to go. While I was waiting, I noted the seating area was in need of a cleaning — several of the tables were dirty and the beverage service area was in need of a wipe down. I live 3 minutes from Penn Station — so it did not take long to get home to eat. Fries were cold. The sub was rather average. You can get a much better Cheesesteak Sub at Pizzarama or Tony’s Pizza(both located in Haymarket). Not sure why I’d want to come back here again when there are better local sub options.

Ok, I have absolutely no idea why I allowed my kid to get me to go back. We both ordered the chicken Teriyaki special, and it was so salty there was no way eat it, nether of us did. the chicken was completely dried out, and the portion really did not seem fair for the price. the fries were overcooked shriveled, and burn. They have had time to work out kinks, establish some quality control, ad master the recipes. clearly they have no desire to do so. A waste of time and money, never again.
